Bra fitting help » Underwires too Wide?

Issue resolved
The wires are to wide for my body. I need a different cup shape, like half cups to accommodate my shallow breasts and the wires need to be closer together.
Thank you everyone!
Original problem
I am new to trying to find a bra that fits and after wearing incorrect 32B's I have no idea if this bra fits correctly.
The underwires seem to be wide, but they are really comfy on the sides and if I went a cup size smaller, I over spilled the cups in front and on the side (underarm fat). So I am wondering if this is the correct fit and/or placement for the underwire for me, or not. If it helps I am a fairly small frame, petite and slim build, so although my root is wide, do I maybe need narrower-wired bras to accommodate my frame?
Any help is appreciated!

helpfulhey peanut, we seem to have similar measurements and shape
(you could check out my fitting bras, they are all of y period where I was wearing 30D/DD with breast circumference of 84cm.)
I know the Change bras a bit and I'd say that this cup is just too big - the wires come all to your back, and still it's not the right cut for you, so you've got some spillage.
I'd recommend trying on Halfcup styles in 30D/DD, you might check out a blogpost series I wrote recently about fitting bras for smaller busts.
I read you tried Freya bras - did you for any chance try some of the padded halfcup styles?
As for where to get those bras in Canada, I think butterfly collection has a pretty good selection: http://www.butterflycollection.ca/
Here's the guide I wrote for smaller busts:

helpfulYou're spilling out of this cup too, there's definite sideboobage, noticeable on the 1st and 4th images and you can also see that the wire is resting on too much tissue on the 2nd image, it should be more snugly against the rib cage.
As HLAleo says it looks like the band is way too tight but I think it's sideboob and the band fits fine, it's even a bit on the larger side of what you need. You need to swoop and scoop! You may think there's no point but it makes a difference.
The underwires are wide for you, it's not a catastrophe but not a perfect fit by a long shot.
Try Change's other styles, they have 8 different ones IIRC. It looks like this bra style is doing the opposite of what a plunge should do, it's pushing your breasts even more to the side instead of giving a more centered nudge.

Your strap is already in the armpit and it's not helping, you probably experience that with a bunch of bras but it's actually often a sign that things are too wide for you.
I'm actually in a Change bra right now and when I touch the side underwire area it's absolutely clear there's no tissue escaping to the side. There should just be skin, a hint of muscle and the absolutely tiniest bit of fat between your underwire and ribcage. I really can't believe you'd have this amount of side fat on a 28 band. It's possible this bra style just doesn't want to help you scoop. Maybe you need to scoop from further than you think. Maybe you could get a band shortener to get a tighter fit out of 28 bands, that'll help to scoop better: http://www.curvywordy.com/2012/09/rixie-clip-bra-band-tightener.html
I'm actually really surprised that the 28 bands are so stretchy. My Change 34s and 32s feel noticeably tighter than other brands, I'd almost call the 34s 33 band.
As for brand suggestions for narrower wires Eliza seems to have it covered :)

helpfulI think you have the band pulled way too tight. It's pulling the cups to the sides and flattening them and your boobs. How you went from a 32B to this size is kind of odd... I would say you need a narrow center gore, and either a larger band or one that isn't as flimsy. This one looks like it's pulling incredibly bad, so much that it's making the cups look like they fit. You don't have a whole lot of volume, combined with the flattened cups I would recommend a better brand in 28E at the most based on your measurements.

When I have the band on the loosest setting I am able to pull the band about 3 inches away from my body, definitely not snug at all. But I do agree that now that I look again that they look wider and flatter. I have told that Change Lingerie cups run small, so maybe that has something to do with it? Thanks for your comment!
-
I have heard they run very small in the cup. I guess their H’s are similar to F’s. The band is pinching in at the elastic edge, the cups are being pulled to the back and the bottom of them are distorted, that's why I said the band looks too small. But this can be the case with cheaper materials too. You may want to try a bra with higher underwires and side wings for a better "tack".

helpfulJust a note here: Cup width 20.3 cm??? Really?! I don't even get that much width in my 34J bras. I think you should recheck if that's really right measured, otherwise you must have gotten a really strange bra
Measuring is not very easy I know. For cup width measure wire top to wire top straight across Don't pull the wires when doing it
Those wires should rather be about 12-13cm or so I think

Do you measure wire to wire up and over the fullest part of the cup, or straight across?
-
wire to wire straight across is cup width. wire to wire over the cup fullest part is cup depth. both are different measurements. In your case both are the same.
-
Well that is my bad then. I remeasured and I got 6 inches or about 15 cm. So would it be correct for me to assume that if this cup is too wide, I need one that is about 5-5.5 inches wire to wire?
-
I must admit I'm not sure about what you require. I have a hard time understanding if you have boobs more looking like this: http://blog.butterflycollection.ca/2012/09/the-women-who-need-to-add-inches-to.html (Scarlet Johansen I mean) or boobs more looking like this http://www.venusianglow.com/2012/09/small-breasts-with-broad-base.html
Which description do you think fits you the best? :)
-
I am going to say I have shallow breast with a broad base, I would say that I am a combination of 1 and 3 of the broad base you provided. I would also say that the edge of my breast (like wear the curvature ends) is right in line with the front of my armpit.
-
Then you just gave yourself the answer :)
The blog post gives a lot of suggestion of bras to try. I might add http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/dhnwz/ this bra, the Tempt me by Curvy Kate.
I'd go for 28E-F as a starting point. Are you a European as well? (since Change is Danish)

Thanks for your help, I will keep hunting then! :) And I am Canadian, Change just happens to be the only lingerie store (unless I want to drive 8 hours)that carries 28 bands in my area.
So one more question, when I find the right style and size that fits me properly, that little bit of armpit bulge shouldn't be there right?
-
I have the same armpit bulge thing happening and I know everyone says that it should be sitting in the cup, but it's easier said than done. Personally I have found that everything I have tried to get that bulge into the bra just doesn't work. No matter what I do to try and contain it, it escapes the moment I move my arms. I've just learned to live with it.
-
I think elfin is kind of right here. It depends on what kind of shape one has and what kind of bras one find. One would need so much coverage to get it in.
I get mine on top of my boobs in a big enough bra. But as I am now a 34J/JJ finding a bra that contain that tissue isn't as hard as finding a bra in 28F that contains that tissue. ;/
If you live in Canada I would consider ordering from butterfly collection. http://butterflycollection.ca They also do online fittings over skype.
One thing you could do to try to get the tissue on top in the cups might be to tighten the straps in a bra a lot. For some that distorts the cup shape. But since you are shallow the flattening of the cups probably will just work with your shape.
Now I'm no fitter in any kind of sense so all I'm saying is more of a guess work. But I have somewhat shallow boobs as well and I tighten the straps a lot to get the shape I want. Some would advise me not to, but others will advise me to do just that. For me it works :)
-
Straps should only be tight enough to fit 2 fingers underneath comfortably. If you can't manage that then they're too tight. You do not tighten them so much to change the cup shape. If you have to resort to that then you require a smaller cup.
-
That is still side boobage?!? Even with swooping and scooping it doesn't go in the bra. So would I be write in understanding that my strap will basically come up my armpit in order to get everything in?
I would definitely say that the band is on the larger side, but this is the only 28 they had that didn't stretch miles on the loosest hook and I thought it would be better than the 32's I was wearing.
I can't go back to Change because they are too far away, but if I was to order do I want to brands that are known to have narrower wires or wider wires, or average in your opinion?
