Issue resolved
Got the 28J in the mail, and it's perfect! The band is a bit tight, but that's the way I love it. The cups fit nicely and are the correct volume of my breasts. Thank you for everyone's help.
Original problem
The band was too loose, I was forced to put it on the middle hook to have the tight feeling. Also, the cups come too far up over my breasts, but they shape perfectly. I can still return this, but I don't know what size to go to. Do I go down a cup size but keep the band? Any help would be appreciated.

helpfulShowgirl is known to run loose in the band and most people do go down a band size in the Showgirl bras. As the non-padded Curvy Kate bras seem to fit you in the band in a 30-band a 28-band should work for you.
The best way to test it though is to put the bra on the tightest setting, if it's okay then you most likely need to go down a band size. Personally I would (if I could) always choose a slightly tight band than one that is too loose. As someone else said, you can always use an extender to start with. They are not optimal, but as a bra stretches you will need to have the option of a tighter setting. A 30-back will not last long for you.
When it comes to cups, in a 28-band a J-cup is the largest, so a 28J should give you a cup size down, plus some extra as the band most likely will stretch the cups a bit. Based on your pictures I think that a 28J is the right choice. the cups on the 30J is too big, but you still get a good shape and cleavage and they don't gape to an extreme amount. Usually you do get a slight drowning sensation from just one cup size too big when you're at the larger cup sizes.
So, my recommendation is to go for a 28J.

helpfulI would suggest going down a band size to 28. If that is too tight, you can always wear an extender until the band has stretched enough.
As for the cups, you might go down an additional cup size or even two, to get the full "cake on a platter" effect this bra is so famous for. So overall, I suggest trying a 28J or 28HH.
On the other hand, the issue with the cups could also be due to the possibility that the cups just aren't the right style for your breasts. If you can return for free though, it probably doesn't hurt to try a different size and see if it would fit.

helpfulThe Curvy Kate Showgirl bras are notorious for being big in the band, and you're not fastening on the loosest hook, soo you need to go down to 28. J is the largest cup size in Showgirl, and J on a 28 wll be a cup size smaller than J on a 30, I think 28J will be much better on you and give you more of the upfront display that this style is designed for. You might have to go down to 28HH, but my feeling is that the cup would be too small. If neither of these work, I'm thinking that it's maybe a shape issue and that this bra isn't going to work for you, but from the photos and your description I would go for 28J initially.

helpfulWhy don't you try hooking the bra on the tightest hook?
Anyway, from the front view looks like the cups might be a tad too big, it looks like your boobs are full on bottom so the top outer foam of the cups is left empty (where the straps are attached).
Have you tried this in a 28 band? And also going down one or two cups.
