Purchased 30J and will wear with extender
Original problem
I am be between sizes and I can't work out which is correct! The band on a 30J is often unbearably tight, I have this one in a 32HH and need it on the tightest hook from day one. I'd love this model to fit since they are easy to get hold of in lots of colours, should I try it in a 30J even it means possibly using an extender?

helpfulI'd say it's safer to err on the side of "too tight" and maybe use an extender, because the band is not going to get shorter. If you're already on the tightest hook with the 32, a 30 would probably be better.
If it does stretch out too much even for the tightest hook if you keep the bra, you can alter the band to be tighter (http://boosaurusbras.blogspot.com/2012/04/bra-alteration-tightening-30gg-deco.html) and/or shorter (http://hourglassy.com/2011/08/leahs-second-column-shrinking-a-bra-band/).

helpfulI'd second Kopfhoerer's suggestion to get the tighter band and wear with an extender. I've sometimes fallen between band sizes on certain bras, and that's what I do. As Kopfhoerer points out, the tighter band will stretch out enough to be comfortable w/o the extender with a month or two of wear. The looser band is not going to get any smaller, and if you already need to fasten it on the tightest hook, it will be useless in a few months.

Thanks, I've ordered the 30J to try it

My 30J has now arrived (thanks to the Brastop sale) and I as I expected the band is super tight, almost cutting me in two! However with an extender the bra fits quite well. Since falling between sizes seems to be a common problem for me I should probably invest in more extenders!

I've been wearing 32 and 34 bands since my teens but have recently been finding that underwired bras cause so much pain to my ribs I stopped wearing them. A tighter band seems to help so I am now trying to find the elusive bra that I can wear for more than a couple of hours without pain!
I'll definitely play around with sizing on this and see if a 30J is better
