Bra fitting help » Cups too small I think
Playtex » Secrets Seamless Shaping Underwire (4419) » 36DD 36:5
Issue resolved
Great suggestions everyone. Thanks!
Original problem
Cups are too small. Left is spilling out at the side and the right one is trying to. Playtex doesn't make a 34G, that I know of. Band looks too tight in the photo but it does ride up. And straps are too wide set for my narrow shoulders (or band is too wise). I was professionally fitted into this size in a Wacoal (same issues) and I think it probably fit the first few weeks but now that I am gathering migrated breast tissue it's too small.

helpfulGetting professional fitted by a store or in a brand that doesn't really have a big size range doesn't guarantee in any way that you got the correct size sadly. More so, I would say most people actually get put in the wrong size. The fact that you while measuring 32.5 inches got put into a 36-band, while a 32-band would have been the obvious choice, and in a bra that fits really really bad definitly tells me that you really shouldn't trust the fitting at all.
In the picture you are wearing the bra on the tightest setting in the back and you are still saying that it rides up. As you should be wearing a new bra on the loosest setting, this means that even a 34-back will be too big, so you most likely need a 32 back.
A 36DD equals a US 34F/UK 34E and a US 32G/UK 32F in cup volume. However the cups you are wearing are way too small. The wires are no were close to your ribcage though they really should lie flat there. My estimation is that you need to go up atleast three cup sizes, possibly more.
That would put you in the US 34I/UK 34G or a US 32J/UK 32GG. That also makes sense while looking at your breast perimeter measurement.
The sizes above might sound crazy to you, but it really isn't that bad. Bra sizes go from a 24-band to a 50-band and from AAA cups to Brittish LL-cups/American Q-cups.
This is a picture showing Brittish GG and G-cups in different band sizes. Look for 70- and 75-bands, they will show the size I estimate you too be and also how the bra really should fit. http://bfcidade.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/nagie_biusty_male.jpg
You will need to start looking for different brands. The Eveden-brands (Freya, Fantasie, Fauve), the Panache brands (Panache, Masquerade, Cleo), Curvy Kate/Flirtelle, Bravissimos own brand and Ewa Michalak are all really good brands. Check out their webpages for a stockist close to you or look online or in the listing section here.
You will need to try many bras before finding your size in each individual style and what brands that actually does work for you. It will be some work, but it will definitly be worth it in the end.
Good luck!

helpfulSince your ribcage is 32.5, a 32 might be a bit too small when you first buy it. But I think a 32 is better than a 34... so get a 32 and, if it's too tight, use an extender until it stretches out a bit.
I agree that the cups are too small... I can't believe a fitter would put you in that bra! The previous commenter is probably right about it being two cup sizes too small. Try out a 34GG and a 32H and see how they fit.
But I also think the style of bra isn't right for your shape. A balconnet style might suite you better. Cleo makes some really flattering sheer balconnets. (Cleo also runs small in both cup and band...)

My mistake. I was professionally fitted into the similarly-fitting Wacoal. But your advice fits, and much appreciated.

I've had fitters insist on a 75 when I asked for a 65. One tried to prove me wrong by measuring me. She looked at the tape and went "60??? *shrug* Fine, I guess you could have a 65, but we've never had anything like that available". Another one gave me a balconette that was a two cup sizes too small. "Oh, it looks fine". I told her my boobs fall out when I bend over. "It's designed that way".
Only trust fitters that have been "certified" by bra bloggers :)

I've been laughing over your comments all day. Wonderful! Just don't ever bend over, right?!

RG, I hope you find the right range of sizes and even moreso many well fitting bras! Hopefully there may be a boutique nearby you can call ahead and see what size ranges they carry before making the trip out. They always say make about 30 minutes for the shopping expedition but I would say at least 1-2 hours or better yet clear your afternoon and try every store you can within reasonable range!
@cherrybastard, holy heck that made me LOL! I have endured "fitters" tell me that my size is my size in basically every bra and not want to bring me anything a cup size up nor down nor a different band.. Only trust bra bloggers? I would attest to that statement! ;)

Ugh, I hate it when I go to try on a bra, ask for a specific size, and am told "no, I'll get you a different size". And then the other size doesn't fit...

helpfulI would like to suggest that you try the Freya Arabella/Lyla, Freya Zara/Tara or the Freya Antoinette/Clarissa/Lucy cut or the Cleo by Panache Lucy in 34F, 34FF or 32FF, 32G (UK).
I think you do not need to go up that much in cupsize. One bandsize down and two cups up should do the trick. I think the shape of the bra is less than ideal, which is part of the problem. This bra doesn't have a lot of volume near the centergore, which makes the quadboob worse.
The wires are a good fit on you, which makes me think you need narrow wires when you go up in cupsize - thus the suggestion to try Freya. But your breast shape might be better suited to the Cleo Lucy.

Thanks. Are all those sizes UK? And how the heck do you keep from having those thick seams from showing? that's my main frustration.

helpfulBased on your measurements, I would say you should definitely try a 32 band. If that's too tight on the loosest hook, try a 34.
I would say the current cups are at least two sizes too small, so that would put you at a 36FF, which will have the same volume as a 34GG and a 32HH.

I think the fitter put me int eh closest approximation they had 9which is apparently all too common) but also didn't have me gather breast tissue into the cup. Since I've been reading up n fitting a bra correctly, I've been doing that and I think the bra fits differently now. I will certainly try a 32. About 3 years ago, when I weighed about 10 pounds less, I was "professionally" fitted into a 38B!
