Bra fitting help » Need a different size?

Issue resolved
I ended up with a Panache Porcelain Plunge in a 32FF. The band is a little looser than I would have expected, but the center gore seems to fit like it should and I don't feel like I'm falling out.
Original problem
First, I'm confused about the fit of the center gore. I'm not sure if this one is okay or not. It lies flat at the bottom, but angles out as it comes between the breasts. So I don't know if this means the cups are too separate, too close, too small, or just normal for a plunge style.
Second, the edge of the cups lifts away just a little, indicating to me that they are too big. But on the right breast, the cup barely covers the nipple, and I'm thinking I'm going to fall out if I'm moving around throughout the day. Again, I'm not sure if this means the cups are too small, too big, or just normal for a plunge.
The band fits very snug on the loosest hook, but is not painful at all.
Any suggestions? Is this just a normal fit for a plunge, or do I need a different size or style?

helpfulI'm going to be the third suggestion on the 32G size. If you compare this bra to the measurements of the other bras that do not fit you they all have the same cup depth measurement of 9 inches. I think that may be a big part of your problem, in addition to the fact that it looks like you have very soft breast tissue. Your breasts are being pushed to the sides because the cup is not deep enough to hold your tissue. That is why you have some of the spread look in the cleavage line and under your arm. That lack of cup depth could also be keeping your tissue from filling the top of the cup properly, again because you are being flattened to the sides.
It seems like you are fairly new and still sorting your size out. A molded plunge bra is often the most difficult to get a proper fit with. Once you have established your size in a soft balconette style you may find it easier to find that perfect molded cup. Getting a fit in that balconette style will ensure the gore keeps you separated, the wire under the arm keeps you pulled forward into the cup, and will allow the top of the cup to fill properly. Once you get there you can find that perfect molded fit.Updated on May 9, 2012 Flag this

helpfulLet me know if this is just the peculiarities of the photo... but it looks as though the edges of the cups are curling outward. You also look like you're coming out of the cup on the sides and even between the cups.
You mentioned the edges lifting away... if that's what I'm seeing as "curling", it actually means that the cups are too small and your breast tissue is warping the cup. Try a 32FF and maybe even a 32G?
If you add a profile angle (directly from the side), it will be easier to tell just what's going on with the bra.
The band looks snug, but if it isn't painful, it's fine. Plus, bands stretch with wear and that bra is obviously new.

Ah, so you're saying the area near my underarm is part breast overflow? I kept thinking the chafing I've gotten there from even smaller bras was because the cup was coming up too high, but what you are saying would be the opposite. I'll get a better fit by going up a cup size or more.
I think we are probably talking about the same thing with the curling/lifting of the edges of the bra. I've been thinking since I posted about trying to go up a cup size. Now I'll have to decide one or two sizes. It's definitely between the cups that I've noticed the most "spillage", but I thought the curling was me not filling the cup, so I got confused. It all fits if it is a cup distortion due to being too small. Thanks for the advice.
I tried to take a profile view shot myself, but it didn't turn out very well. To be the most useful, is it best to raise the arm out of the way?

Raising the arm is good for some things (like band), but it definitely distorts the fit in the cup. Just make sure the arm isn't in front of the cup. :)
You might also consider a different style bra. Out of curiosity, what is your overbust measurement? (It's not the best gauge, but sometimes it's helpful information.)
-
I've had some issues measuring my overbust. I've come up with anywhere from 38 to 40 inches.
-
Whoops - you asked for overbust. My full bust is 38-40, my overbust is about 36.

Hmm... yeah, I'll stick with my advice: try a 32FF and a 32G. Also try other styles though, because it might be an issue of BOTH size and style.

helpfulI would agree with the previous suggestion on trying a 32FF or 32G, possibly order both so you can compare them, and then return the one that doesn't fit as well.
Casey does come up a bit higher on the outside, and some will find that uncomfortable. The Parfait Jeanie sits a bit lower under the arm, and might be more comfortable if you feel the side is up too high. Jeanie also has slightly more of a plunge than Casey, in my opinion. You'll find when you bump up to a 32FF or 32G, the straps will be wider, and there will be 3 hooks. At least that's what happens with the 30 bands.
There won't be a huge difference going from the 32F to 32FF, but it might be just enough to be what you need, though I have a feeling the 32G will be a better fit for you. With the larger cup size, your breast should be able to settle better in the cup and provide a better fit overall.
Good luck!

Thanks. I think soft tissue is part of my problem. I kind of thought I had it figured out a year or so ago, but I think I was still wrong - I was in 34DDs that seemed to fit, but I don't think I was scooping, especially at the sides, and wires still poked. Now all the 34 bands are too loose - partially from stretching, but also from slight weight loss. So I'm starting over at a 32 band.
I have sent this bra back, and on the advice of the fitters at Breakout Bras, I went with a Panache Porcelain Plunge and Tango, both in 32FF. I'm thinking I should have tried the 32G also. But I'm really glad I got the Tango too, based on your advice. It might give me a better idea of the actual cup fit that I can translate to the molded. They should get here tomorrow, so we shall see.
