Bra fitting help » Should I go down a cup or mod the bra?
Freya Swim » Swing Sweetheart Padded Bikini Top (3423) » 30G 30:9
Issue resolved
Living with it, and tightening the band.
Original problem
My bottom-heavy breasts tend to look best with balconette styles because the high gore separates the breasts and the less coverage up top means I don't get the gaping that occurs with a full-cup bra.
I currently wear 28G Freya Lyla/Eleanor with the gores modded to be narrower and thus the cups a little bigger. I think I'm actually more of a 28GG, especially since the Freya Mirage Balcony Bikini in 28G gave me quadraboob. Hence the 30G purchase of this bikini (which doesn't go to 28).
I can't tell if the cups here are too big, or if my breasts just cause the gaping. The band is a little on the loose side; will modding it tighter help? (My breasts are not escaping out underneath, but maybe holding the band more tightly against my chest will help the cup fabric stay in place.)
The wires surround my breast tissue with a very small margin of error, so maybe they're a smidge too wide. Or, maybe I'm just used to wearing slightly too-narrow wires. (Panache and Curvy Kate are too wide for me for sure.)
Also, this is a bikini. I'll be wearing it in the water. Should I size down in the cup to accommodate relaxed fabric? I do like the coverage that the G gives me, and worry that a FF would be too...baring. On the other hand, I'd like to have the option of wearing this all day.

helpfulI don't think that you need to go up a cup size in this top. Keep in mind that most swimsuits stretch over time, and going up a cup size would then make it too large when the eventual stretching occurs. Pulling the band a bit tighter in the back should be able to get rid of the gaping in the cup.

I meant down in the cup, sorry! Swimsuits tend to stretch fast because of pool chlorine, so I'd recommend rinsing every time you get out of the pool and trying not to wring it much when drying. Depending on wear and use, it'd probably stretch as fast as a bra.

helpfulThe fit is so close that going down a cup might be too small or may end up showing more cleavage than wanted. I think your ideas might be just what this bra needs to fit you perfectly.
Could the small gap on the right cup be fixed by tightening the strap?
Definitely try holding the band tighter that should pull the cups a bit more to the side also getting rid of the gaping.

Unfortunately, I tightened the straps all the way and it just shifted the gaping around. (I'll upload another picture that shows the position of the gaping.)

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm contemplating going down in the cup, not up. :) How quickly do swimsuits stretch out? Faster than bras?
