Bra fitting help » Center of the bra not tightly against the chest
Marlies Dekkers » Space Odyssey Wired Padded Balcony D+ » 70F 32:6
Personally I think this bra is nearly perfect fit to me - although I have put up a bit weight after I bought them and I feel that the band could be just a tad looser right now.
However, the cups are full and the bra is sturdy and comfortable - and definitely stays in place when moving, no blobs and bulges (except on my fatty back, yuck, I would like the band be wider). In spite of that I was pointed that the mid of the bra does not lay completely flat against the sternum.
My breasts are placed low and they are shallow, too much lift or projection makes me feel uncomfortable - too narrow wires will go on top of the breast tissue - and that is definitely not comfortable. The problem with the shallowness is that the comfortable wires will go rather far to the sides (my ribcage is not huge) - and personally I suspect that this is a reason why it is difficult for me to get a perfect fit. Sure the wires bend to the shape of the ribcage - but they are formed only in one dimension - thus when they overlap the steep curve of ribcage they definitely do give some unwanted lift to the middle of the bra.
I can't get any tighter band - and the narrower wires are not a solution. What would you suggest?

helpfulOkay, now here's some reading
The basics - what makes a good fit
http://www.herroom.com/bra-fitting-advice,907,30.htmlHow to put on a bra propperly
http://brasandbodyimage.wordpress.com/2012/09/05/putting-your-bra-on-properly/Now, as for the fit of this bra
THE GORE
From what I see in these pictures is that the center panel doesn't lay flush against your sternum.
This can mean two things - the cups are too small or the panell is too wide for your close set boobs.
Now, On you I think it's both actually. Tthe panel (or the center gore as we call it) isn't even between your boobs, the wire is resting more on your left, bigger boob.
Try pressing the panel with your fingers and acommodating it right between your boobs - what happens? Do you get bulging on top? If yes, the cups are too small.THE WIRES
The're seems to bi a bit of empty fabric near the wires at the bottom of the cups. Now this can mean two things.
1. that you are in fact wearing your bra too low
http://blog.butterflycollection.ca/2012/11/are-you-wearing-your-bra-too-low.html
2. that this is an orange in the glass effect
http://xlhourglass.blogspot.com/2012/12/figuring-out-ewa-michalak.htmlSo the wires should be right in the crease of the boob. You might need wider wires in a bra. That actually makes sense for a shallow breast shape!
The band
What you percieve as back fat I actually think it might be migrated breast tissue
http://bustyresources.wikia.com/wiki/Migrated_breast_tissueIf I am right, you will be needing bigger cups, wider wires and more coverage so you can scoop your boobs in the cups and the back fat will dissapear.
I know you talked about prefered shape and I do think you can get that in a lot of bras but I would suggest starting out with panache andorra. I think it will provide the shape you desire and the width and coverage you need.

I know letting go of your old bras and sizes can be hard and scary. But te new size will be better, I promise!
Your posture will improve, your clothes will fit better, you will feel more secure and supported and you'r boobs will look and stay younger for years :)
Once you get your boobs in a right cup, I think you will be wearing 32's or even 30 bands.
Those are just numbers and letters - they don't mean anything, a well fitting bra on the other hand - means everything!
And there are a lot of us here pushing K cup limits, so you are by no means a *freak* for needing bigger cups :)
Just stay positive, we are all here to help :) -
Pris: Needing wires further back is not exactly the shape of ones dreams I know. But some of us are still shaped like that. I am. I need wires at my shoulder blades even because on some of us the root just grows in that direction. We can then choose what to do with that. We can crop the root off or we can have bigger cups with wires ending further back. It kind of depends what look one wants to achieve. Most of the time I think we are dealing with breast fat that ends on the back, but glandular can be in it due to having worn too small cups before. If it doesn't hurt you then it probably is just breast fat and you can mould it pretty much to your own liking :) For me having my boobs in one piece is more comfortable :)
I think Vee and I agree about most here, we simply differ in our perspectives rather than opinions I think. And our opinions on minimizers differs, which is no wonder since we have so different shapes :) But apart from that I think we are trying to explain mostly the same things from different perspectives :)

helpfulHi sweetie. When I see you I see some kind of combination between me and MilkAndHoney. Like you said you do look shallow. I do think the shape is right. I do think you could get away with wearing minimizers like Triumph Ladyform and you would still have the same resault. I also think you could wear halfcups with the same resault. I don't think you would look more projected in those either.
But it looks as if you scoped and swooped your boobs would be bigger. I think that's why the band feels so tight.
This is what I see, and I may - or I may not - be right because pictures can deceive:
I think either the bra is too small or that you do have boobs touching in the middle that goes to your sides.( It's not exactly the same as separated boobs but without a bra it looks like it. )I also think your boobs starts out higher on your chest but ends lower down and that they might go further out on your sides, almost tapering to your back.
Also when looking at your perimeter compared to cup depth it's a little too big difference for your boobs to get room which also makes the center gore lift from your sternum because your boobs pushes it outwards.
So I think you could try scoping and swooping to see what you end up with and you can also when scoped and swooped keep your arms down to hold the tissue in the cups when standing up.
I think you could either try sizing up on the same band size or you could try going up in band size and try 34F or 34FF bras. And you could definitely try the same bra in those sizes.
Though I do think Curve Kate showgirl range like Tease Me would fit you perfectly I would advise against them if you want to keep a discrete look to your boobs.
Depending on where you live I would suggest also trying Parfait by Affinitas or Change. I also think you could try a Panache Andorra 34F or FF or the unpadded balconies from Curvy Kate. Or Panache in general. A lot of other bras comes to mind. Like Masquerade bras. And definitely Bravissimo halfcups.
Can you make a list of bras you've tried and what you thought about them? And if you have the time to do it measure like the link I gave you in the bra adventure. Or like this if you want a less extensive version http://www.bratabase.com/profile/353/adventures/302/ of measurements.
But if you feel comfortable in the bra you are now wearing then there's no rules saying you're not allowed to wear it. The only rule is comfort. It's your body and your decision.

Hey, what do you mean by: " you do have boobs touching in the middle that goes to your sides.( It's not exactly the same as separated boobs but without a bra it looks like it. )"?
I definitely agree about taking a band size up - and maybe even without going down a cup with this model. Most of my bras are with 34 band anyway.
I will eventually add more bras I've tried and used - a slight challenge is that I tend to cut the tags away, so listing them needs some investigating. And I definitely will take the measurements mentioned!
Thanks a lot!

Pris: I am actually agreeing a lot in what Vee says. What I mean is that boobs can be splayed. That means they touch in the center but still goes to the sides with nipples pointing outwards. So it is easy to mistake splayed for separated. I did just that.
However if boobs touches in the middle when they are separated, then the cups are very often too small for the boobs.
I look forward to see your measurements :)

helpfulFirstly I think with your rib cage measurement, going up into a 34 back won't help- it'll just ride up all over the place and create more back fat (I know from personal experience). I know that atm this band feels too tight- but that will be solved by sorting your cup size out- once your not being smooshed into too small a cup, you will feel like there is just so much more room in the bra for things like breathing
From your pictures I'd say you need to go up 1 or 2 cup sizes to get a good fit- if you do that bulge under your arm will go coz it will be in the cups- rather than being smooshed out of them.
I'd also say if you are worried about back fat- try and get hold of a wider band (like a 3-hook band rather than 2) - they tend to give a smoother outline under clothes.

helpfulI agree with all of these suggestions. 32 band is pretty good. But all bras are so different. You can find a better fitting bra. If my breast perimeter was 11 I would try to start with bras that have a cup depth of 9.5-11. That might help with the cups not being too small and then after scooping the gore would tack better. and some bras you're going to be able to wear a 30 band and some bras you're going to be able to wear 32. And bra band extenders help if a band feels too tight sometimes. Also if you bend over and put your fingers under your band with your index finger you can coax migrated breast tissue in your back, back to your breasts. You just slide from the back to the front underneath the band w/ index fingers. It's kind of like scooping only you bend over and slide fingers and tissue to the front under the band. Good luck in your quest!

Dang - I definitely have a cup size issue. I shortened the straps for just about couple of cm - and was extra careful scooping all breast tissue into the bra (that blog post about putting the bra on was pure gold!). Result - the center panel even further from the ribcage and breasts squished together underneath. No way I can push the center panel down without any cup spillage. Oh - and the band does not feel too tight at all, visibly less back fat :(.
The breasts do fill the cups nicely from the bottom - but there definitely is a cup size issue.
Actually it looks like my breasts are naturally quite separated and also point slightly outwards - so I doubt that the narrower center panel will solve this. The shape of the cup of this bra just moves the tissue towards the center when there is not enough room. The cup shape still feels well fitting and comfortable to my breast shape - it just needs to be bigger :(.
There's not much room for wider wires either - maybe just a bit - they will soon start from backside, haha!
