Bra fitting help » Is this too small? I don't know what size I am anymore :(
Freya » Deco Moulded Plunge Bra (4234) » 28DD 28:5
Issue resolved
Ordered a deeper cup ewa michalak bra, and am going to go up a cup size in future!
Original problem
Me: 27" underbust, 33" over.
Used to wear 32D, measured myself, 28DD/E. I only wear plunges, generally, balcony bras seem to dig into my sternum painfully.I have been wearing 28E and been pretty happy, bought this 28DD because I was told it runs big in the cups.
I also have the 28 version of this,

and they both seem to fit... okay. The band feels a big big, I fasten it on the tightest hook, and especially on the 28E I have the straps quite short.I recently got a 28E curvy kate too

I know they run big in band small in cups, should I try a 28F, I'm worried that will be too big, or just steer of CK bras? Can anyone please recommend me a bra, or a size to try or make any suggestions? I would be very grateful!

helpfulHey amy! It looks like the 28DD is kind of pinching your boob at the bottom since it's really narrow from picture two. Did you get any quadboobing with this when you scooped? The 28E looks better, it offers more coverage.
The band does run large on the Freya Deco, maybe you should get a rixie clip or try to alter down? Once the band is smaller, I think you will see that the 28E is the better fit.
I just bought the Curvy Kate tempt me too You should definitely try the 28F if you're quadboobing. (That's the size I got, and we're about the same size I think.. It runs very small.)

also, it looks like amy__rebecca's boob is escaping at the sides of the cups in the 28DD... the 28E does look better.
-
As a side note for trying the tempt me, it's very shallow in the cup, so I second the 28F, maybe even a 28FF just in case? (I'm normally between 28FF and 28G, and I needed a 28GG in this bra.)

helpfulMy first suggestion would be to ask if you have the wires pulled all the way under your breasts. I do know that the Freya Deco doesn't sit where it's supposed to on me and so there's extra room at the bottom. But if that's not the case for you, your breasts might have a bit more room if you did that.
If that does nothing, I'd say a 28F. Even in the picture of the 28E, it looks like there's breast not sitting in the cup. Do you swoop and scoop?
There's also the problem with not deep enough cups. The Freya deco cups are wider and shallower. You might benefit from a deeper cup.

Yeah I pulled the wires to the edges of the cups, other wise the gore doesn't sit flat.
I do scoop them in, I think they sit pretty well in the deco, they are not quite round though, a bit squeezed together in the middle :/ do you have a suggestion for a deep cup bra? I wouldn't even know where to start, I don't really know the difference to be honest. Thankyou for your advice :)
-
If the gore doesn't lay flat that could be caused by a too wide gore or just a too small cup/too large band.
The rounded could be due to your breast type. I know that I personally have soft tissue and my breasts(at a much larger size than your own) reach no where near that wonderful cleavage you're going on. Well, besides the Freya I have tried all Showgirl Collection from CK and they all have cups that are more shallow. I think you might benefit from other Freya styles or even Ewa Michalak which are known for deep cups and narrow wires.
I wish I could be of more help, but I have only tried a few bras and are mainly familiar with problems that come with sizes near my own.
-
Thankyou for the suggestions :) I'm bidding on an Ewa Michalak on ebay, I've gone for the 28F I suppose someone on here will be able to make use of it if it's too big!

Ewa Michalak bras always go fast, ALWAYS. They are a very in demand brand and if we can get them without the steep price of shipping from Poland, many are willing to give an arm and leg. Be sure to check out Bratabase listing to see if you can get lucky.
Have you tried sheer cups? I know I'm not a fan of them, but if you have he right type of breasts, you can look pretty amazing. I know many bloggers who swear by non-moulded bras
-
I got one for £17 including shipping, wouldn't normally pay that much for a not brand new bra, but I don't think that's too bad?
I'm not a fan of them either, they make my boobs funny shaped, like sort of squash them down, and I'm too conscious of my nipples showing through my top in a sheer bra :o
-
I feel the same. EM have good quality bras, even if one has worn it a lot, another could greatly benefit from it still. I understand why they are so expensive after finally trying them. They are worth it.
I felt the same. I have a Freya Carys bra that I was totally against as it wasn't molded, but I like the comfort of it. It's not my favorite shape or uplift and the cups cover too much for a lot of my lower cut shirts, but it's comfortable and it fits. I had thought the same, that they made my breasts funny shaped, but after trying this(and with a great approval from my fiance) I realized that it's not that bad.
-
I'm excited to get mine :)
I have a freya Jolie plunge, I didn't realise it was un moulded when I bought it, I just got excited because it was on sale! I never wear it though, it doesn't give enough lift, and I have high up boobs anyway so I need high up bras. Also one is slightly bigger than the other and when I wear something completely unpadded, I feel like it's more visible :(
Fiance's approval made me smile :) I like my boyfriend to help me pick bras, but he always picks a too-small one where my cleavage goes up to my chin :p
-
Good luck with it!
I understand. The Carys I have does make it obvious that one breast is larger, but every woman has that problem. It's not even considered a problem, it's a common occurrence.
Silly man. ALWAYS go with your size, though. It's why I shop online, no local store carries anywhere near my size.
-
Yeah I'm not concerned about it, I just don't want it to be obvious.
No I don't have any local stores that stock small bands, the nearest is bravissimo, but its still quite far and too expensive for me for everyday bras :( this site and brastop can be absolute lifesavers!
-
I live in the states and the nearest place is in the more expensive and high end city that is about a 40 minute drive from where I live and they stop at bands 30 and cup sizes HH, I think it was. I had visited once and they only carry sheer cups in my size and very few collection. I've decided to stick to brastop and this site and was lucky to come upon a few Ewas that fit me perfectly.
-
It sucks. I ask if they have 28 bands in the shops in my city and they always want to measure me and sell me a 32.
I hope something happens soon because it feels like there's so many of us that want smaller bands and bigger cups and nothing is being done about it :(
-
I'm always measured at a 34/36 band wth my 28/29" underbust. I don't even have the choice with my size of breasts.
Bralessinbrasil did a wonderful survey and collection of data that shows for brands to cater to the majority of women they should be stocking bands 28-38 and cups GG+ I think it was.
-
Interesting!
I'm really hoping 26 bands become available (without the whole ewa special order) someday too, I think a lot of women are 24/26 but just don't have the choice, like gg+ cup sizes just not having the option either :(

Have you heard of the Bra Band Project? http://www.flickr.com/photos/76304212@N06/
There are MANY women who are sub-30. And I believe if I had been in a proper fitting bra my whole life, I never would have surpassed a 30 band. It's a common misconception that 32 is a 'tiny' frame when in reality a 24 is and yet women still have large breasts.
Like this woman is a 24G and she's perfectly 'womanly' and in no way a child or small: http://www.flickr.com/photos/76304212@N06/6871833264/in/set-72157629283396906/

Yeah, I have a picture on there somewhere :)
-
Not so much quad boobing as flattening... It pushed it all out of the top and sides, if that makes sense. Rixie clip looks like a brilliant idea, thank you :)
