Fantasie » Kara Underwired Full Cup Bra (2092) » 32K 32:15
Issue resolved
Thanks all!
I've gotten a Fantasie Cally on its way to me now (should arrive any day, yay!).
I will be going to try Ewa Michalak too, 75K or 70KK or sisters. Not sure about the first size I'll try yet, but I'll figure it out!
I am not going to order a sports bra yet, I first want to find out my true bra size before going on to sports bras.
Oh, and I'm going to learn how to alter bands down for the Elomi bras and stuff.
Original problem
Ok so this full cup bra seems to agree with me in the cups. Yay! There is some wrinkling on the back of the cup, but strangely enough it does not feel like there is empty fabric there.
The wing is too high on me, or maybe it's the extra boning there but it's poking me in the armpits. It is higher than all my other bras, so it may be that, but it still shouldn't poke! This is a follow-up/parallel fit request to this one http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/dhp94/ (my CK bra), because this fullcup one fits so very differently.

helpfulDoes the centergore lie flat? If yes, the bra looks quite good. Maybe the wires are a touch too wide, but it is still ok.
As for the poking: When I started to wear the right size I also had issues with the wires poking me on Panache Tango II Balc. which goes up really high under the arms.
Turns out I had migrated tissue there, once that got better the Tango stopped poking. So maybe don't give up on this bra yet.
You could also check out the other Fullcups by Fantasie. I know they go only up to JJ, but the cups run larger and the wires are softer and shorter. Just be warned they run loose in the band, so after awhile the shape is not so good and you have a "stay at home" bra. I would especially recommend the Cally, bc the material of the cup is very soft. You can find it for cheap on ebay.

Sorry if I was not clear. Yes, the Kara is available up to K. But the other Fantasie Fullcups (Cally, Belle) are only available up to JJ. Belle and Cally run large though. Cally and Belle are both older than Kara. The Kara was replaced with the Florence, but this bra is an epic fail, see my review of it.
-
Ah, yes, that explains that.
I just bought the blue Cally on ebay you pointed out in 32JJ, crossing my fingers it'll be a decent fit!
Is it a bit lower in the wings, maybe? Compared to the Kara. I hope so, it would mean less poking, I think :) -
It is not that much lower, but softer. I do not have the Kara anymore, sold it ages ago bc it was just too small in 40GG and poked me. So I cannot directly compare. But I still have the Belle and the Cally in 40GG and wear them from time to time.
-
Soft sounds good, very good... It should arrive within a week, I'm exited already!
I think it's not the hight in itself I can't stand of the Kara, it's the poking. I can't wait to take it off after a day. Never had that so bad with any of my bras, ever!
-
I just had another thought: you could IMO try the Elomi Energise. It is a sportsbra, so the 34J runs tight, it also runs large in the cup.
-
A SPORTS bra?!?? *drools* I've not had one of those since... since... forever!!
-
I think t_maia gave sou great pointers, just wanted to add that I see a bit of quadboob on your left breast, this bra may become too small really quickly :/
-
Yes, it really is on the verge of fitting/not fitting. The quadboob disappears when I exhale, then re-appears when I inhale, haha.
I have hopes for the Cally t_maia told me of (now on its way to me), and early next year I am going to try Ewa Michalak, hopefully they'll have restocked and I can order a dropdown size, if not I'll have to cross my fingers and hope the custom size fits. -
If you are serious about a sportsbra, check out the Royce Impact Free in addition to the Elomi Energise. I personally prefer the Elomi Energise, bc it gives better support, but the Royce Impact Free is available up to K-cup and allows a lot of volume on top. I usually wear 40HH in Panache, the Royce Impact Free fit me in 40G bc it is so roomy on top.

I sure would like to work out, and without a sportsbra that is more difficult to do because of the amount of movement ;)
I love these suggestions, and will be trying them out in the new year I'm sure of it :D -
t_maia. I also own the Royce sportsbra (in 32K), but I think it runs pretty normal for a sports bra, i.e., a bit smaller in both cup and back than most bras. I only use it for low impact sports and as a lounging bra. For high impact work-outs like jogging it really isn't suited. But it's a very comfortable bra. But you are right: it certainly has a larger top section and a smaller bottom section than most bras, which for me is a positive thing;) I now also got their Charlotte bra, the perfect lounge/sleep bra, which runs about a cupsize and band size larger compared to their sports bra.
@Petalmoon, Freya active now has extended their size range to a K cup. But I fear this still will be too small for you, since it - like most sports bras - runs rather small.
-
Well, maybe I can order one of those sports bras in combination with other bras and/or clothing, so the shipping costs will at least be useful if the sportsbra is no good for me.

helpfulI would venture to say that the wires are a bit wide for you, and that you need more depth in the cup than what this bra has for you (though it does not look awful).
Based on your CK pics and this one, it looks like you might want to either try a 34K altered down to a 32KK (before you order from EM - because of the inability to return custom sizes). I would definitely suggest something with narrower wires (like some Freya styles, and Panache - although not all styles have a lot of depth in them). But if you do have a lot of migrated tissue, wider wires can help to pull all your tissue in.
Elomi bras run generous in the cup, so if you want to try one of their bras, that might be a good idea for you.

Yes, I agree on the more depth. You may also be right about the wires being wide, I do not know, I'm confused by all the possibly migrated tissue on my sides.
I have an Elomi Caitlyn, but the wires are super-wide on that one and I've always felt they were much too wide for me. Much wider than this bra at least, although it does not feel like empty fabric on the sides ever. I can not (yet) distinquish if wires are too narrow or wide for me, not there under my armpits where I have difficulty separating migrated tissue and normal tissue.Altering sounds like the way to go for me, it seems. Yes, the inability to return custom sizes is definitely what's holding me back from ordering EM, I'd love to try some other styles.
I do like the Caitlyn I have, but it's in 34 so it's too wide for me even with the gore pinched. I may alter that one down as one of the first ones though, after some practice on bras I've now classified as frankenbras (never ever going to wear them again, too worn out/quadboobing/big band all together so perfect subjects for learning to alter bands ^^

That sounds good! No, the center gore does not lie flat. Currently I have not a single bra where the gore lies flat.
I suspect there's plenty of migrated tissue for me too, thank you for the encouragement to keep wearing this bra.
How do you mean they only go up to JJ? This one is K, how can that be? Or was it the last one made in K, because the Kara was discontinued. Yay for softer&shorter wires! I've been trying the bending trick with this one, but it's not super comfy.
Cally sounds good, I'll check it out!
