Issue resolved
I didn't actually fix this issue, I'm just shopping for narrower strap placements in future purchases. I hope this issue can help someone else with similar troubles though, since there was some great advice! Thanks!
Original problem
OK, this bra is too small in the cups now,as you can probably see, but I happened to have pictures of it that showed my issues with bra straps in general.
I want non-full coverage bras, the better at boosting the girls up and keeping them straight ahead, the better. But I insist that they need to have straps that don't rub on my arms like this. I'm tired of rub burns by the end of the day. I like the shape I get with balcony-type bras, the less coverage on the cup, the better for my short frame.
Also, I've tried on a few bras and I seem to be OK in a 34G, but would going down a band size (or two) get the straps where I want them? (33" is the underbust measurement I go by, but if I exhale and pull it really tight I can get it clear down to 31.5", though I'd probably say 32 or 32.5" would be better.)
Thank you so much for your help!

helpfulI have this problem as well and I understand how frustrating it is. A full cup style usually has the strap placed more over the centre of the cup and might be the solution for you. I believe the styles t_maia recommended on your bra adventure here http://www.bratabase.com/profile/4a9/adventures/210/ are both full cup styles.
Other than that I can only second Nesoa's advice for altering the placement of the strap, unfortunately it is the only option that has worked for me.

Once again we are similar. I can wear very close circle-shaped necklines with a full coverage bra but that's about it. However the PL style from Ewa Michalak would allow you to wear low cut v-necks, and the Cleo styles are atleast not as much full coverage as others might be. Both Fantasie and Freya might still have plunge bras as well, that could be better.

helpfulI have more or less the same issues as you describe, if I where to go down two cup sizes the straps would be better, but then I would also have a way too small cup. Now, Krisline is actually quite good on me, but I've only tried the half-padded ones and it might be different from size to size.
The only suggestion I sadly can make is to either try to find a brand that works better on you, or to start altering the armholes and strap position. With narrower shoulders sadly few bras for fuller cup sizes have the adjustments needed and it honestly hurts when having the straps this of.
On me Ewa Michalaks PL bras are quite good and better than most bras. I also find padded bras in general for some reason more comfortable there, probably because of the padding helping with the rubbing. In your size I also actually find Cleo quite okay, and also Freya, which might mean that Fantasie could be okay. I would avoid Panache though, for some reason I find them wider at the straps...
Also, if you can and if the rest of you suit the shape, look for those with a looser top edge, that way you might be able to size down one cup size (I can do that in Cleo) which could help a bit.

Glad I'm not alone in this, but I still wish there was a simpler solution than bra surgery. I've heard a lot about the Ewa Michalaks bras, but haven't tried one yet, mostly because I'm still trying to find my size and ideal style.

If you are going to try Ewa Michlaak go for a PL bra, and avoid the CH and HP, they have the straps wider apart...
But yes, I wish so to. The odd thing is that in many brands sister sizes 5 band sizes apart have the exact same distance between the straps, which is just odd, it shouldn't be like that... :(

helpfulThank goodness someone has finally asked this question! I think the only thing to do i try on, try on , try on. Or, as others have said, sew the straps on in a different place.
I have this issue, and frankly it gets uncomfortable enough that i sometimes wish to wear my smaller sized, ill-fitting bras just so i don't get the rub from the straps! (then i see the 'armpit fat' read: boob and resign myself to having sore straps!)
i find that my strapless freya Deco is best, because there are two strap positions available, and one is fairly narrow, so that helps, but all of my curvy kate / flirtelle bras have this problem!
Sorry i'm not much help, but i have been wondering the same thing for a while, and am happy to see it's not just me!

I had seriously begun to wonder if I was the only one this happened to, because I've asked about it several times on various formats with no help. :-( I guess though, I am skilled with a sewing machine, so I guess I'll just have to resign myself to resewing all my [expensive enough you'd think they could do something about this problem] bras.

I know, i don't understand why manufacturers think that we all have these massively wide shoulders! i have fairly wide shoulders, actually (i'm 5'9"), but i don't want to have to wear my bra straps balanced on the outer reaches of my shoulders... I think that Curvy Kate / Flirtelle are especially poor choices for wide strap seperation - it's a shame because they are so pretty!
-
I know, right? Like we must be football players? Have you tried the Curvy Kate Tempt Me? The straps on it are tolerable. I don't know what your "shape" is (odd that they ask for that but don't show it on profiles since it would be easier for others to help), but it might be worth a try.

I too have the same problem and am too affraid of doing "bra surgery" to my nice bras. The only temporary fix I have found is to use a bra strap connector. They are made to convert a normal bra to a razor back but it helps to pull the straps in away from your shoulders. I am sure they are probably streching out all of my bra straps but it at least works for now.

@ hard2fit: no, i've not tried Tempt Me; i have heard all sorts of horror stories about the bottom of the cups not being very deep and being really wide :S
I have close together boobs, which means that the gore from CK bras (2cms approx) pushes my boobs apart in an uncomfortable way..
i want to try EM bras, but he sizing seems very confusing to me! Currently my best fitting bra is a 28H CK emily - which i can wear with or without an extender and the fit is the same (weird or what!?) but then i have a 30GG CK angel which is too small in the cups - the straps are wide on both! -
@ lovelyTaTas: i find that if i do that, then the strap cuts into my flesh and rubs my collar bones ... i think maybe we should all have bras made individually by tailors! i too, am worried about altering my bras in case they get worse!

helpfulDid you try a smaller band size? It may help.
If it doesn't you just need to try various brands and models. Also, multiways can be some kind of solution.

helpfulProbably a "side problem". See
http://www.bratabase.com/troubleshoot/dhpem/Alternatively it can also be a case of a band that is a tiny bit too tight and a cup that is slightly too big. Essentially the band pulls at the fabric of the cup and jams it into the armpit. So sometimes going up in bandsize and down in cupsize can fix it. To try whether this is the case, insert an extension.
Sometimes it is also a combination of the two. In this case you need to switch styles and size.

I am going to order one of her suggestions, because I don't mind having one or two full cup bras, but unless I'm wearing a turtleneck, they show--I'm simply too short on top or my boobs are up too high or something, because even a standard v-neck tee has peek-a-boo with a full coverage one.
I guess I'll be altering, yay. :-( It does make me feel better that I'm not alone or a freak or something though.
