Bra fitting help » Cups too big or wire too wide?
Curvy Kate » Emily Balcony Bra (CK5001) » 32H 32:11
Issue resolved
32H is too big, sizing down to 32GG was the perfect solution.
Original problem
I own the same bra in 32GG but the cups are too small, during the day I get quadraboob. So I tried a 32H but... is it too big? Or is it a case of too wide wires? I really can't understand if this bra fits or not!
UPDATE
Ok, my fault I've been wearing my 32GG Emily the whole day and it fits okay, no spilling, great support. I think I thought it was too small because when I bought it I didn't know how to put on a bra correctly, I shortened the straps too much and didn't adjust my breasts into the cups the right way. Also, my boobs were in their PMS phase and swollen. So yeah, a 32H is definitely too big.

helpfulI would actually say that this bra both is too big and too small in the cups for you.
You're nipples sit higher than the deepest part of the bra, which suggests that the cup is too small, or, atleast that the bottom part of the cup is too small. At the same time it looks like the wire is borderlining on being too wide, though I still think that part is wearable.
What bothers me more is the wrinkles in the top part of the cup and how close the armhole of the bra is to your arm, at the same time as you have wrinkles at the bottom part of the cup close to the wire. This indicates that you need to shorten the straps, while you don't seem to be able to do it cause your arm gets in the way. This could make the top part of the cup seem too big, even though it might not actually be. The wires doesn't seem to lie completly flat either, also indicating too small cup in the form of too shallow.
You would probably need bottom depth of a 32HH, the wire of a 32GG and the upper cup of a 32GG to make this bra perfect for you I would say, which simple leads to the conclusion that this model (and those with the same cut) probably isn't the best style for you.

Bravissimo bras might work really well on you I think. Depending on how deep you actually are (hard to judge in a bra which isn't a perfect fit) the balconettes or the plunges will be better. Personally I find the balconettes more bottom heavy/depth focused, while the plunges are more neutral, but probably a lot better than this bra on you, but still in the unpadded versions quite similar in the sort of bra.
I also think that Fantasie might be good.
If you're looking at Ewa Michalak I would recommend CH rather than HP, and in CHP you will most definitly want to size down in compared to CH.
I'm also thinking that the deeper Cleo bras might be good, those with the cut of Chloe and Alexa.
Just some ideas though, hard to say directly.

helpfulIt definitely looks too big. If you get significant quad boob in one size smaller it may be more of an issue with the style than the size. The wire is way too big in these pictures. I wonder if the reason you get quad boob is because you have soft tissue that isn't well supported by a poorly fitting bra. Especially in a bra with a soft, loose upper cup edge like this, quad boob shouldn't happen unless the cup is much much too small. How do you think the wires fit at the base? My guess is that the cups are too big, so you tighten the straps to take out slack, but the tissue isn't really supported or contained, so it flows down and to the middle, giving the impression of quad boob. It may also be an issue with the style just not being right for you. Pic 1 shows extra room at the bottom and side of the cup, and pic 4 shows the center gore still isn't sitting flush. You're not getting great support, and I think the cups being a little too large is making them catch the breast from above instead of lifting it from below.

I think I used the wrong term (sorry, English isn't my first language :P), in the 32GG my booobs spill out but the top of the cups doesn't cut into breast tissue.

Ignoring the rest of the cup, how does the wire fit? Does it follow the breast crease all the way around or does it get wider on the sides? If the wire itself doesn't fit, there's no way the cup will fit and the rest of the conversation becomes moot. You can make a cup too big or too small depending on how you adjust the straps or the breast tissue, but you can't make it fit right if the wire is the wrong size or shape for you.

It gets wider on the sides. Not too much, though.
-
If that's the ase you could try a smaller size. It doesn't guarantee that it will fit, only that this one doesn't. The best bra fitting advice I ever got was fit the band, then fit the wire, then fit the cup.

helpfulI would say that this style just doesn't work for you. I read somewhere recently (though I can't remember exactly where--Venusian Glow maybe?) about wire widths. If this one seems too wide, you could try a more middle-of-the-road width by trying Fauve or Fantasie bras (using the 32GG as a starting size). If it's just this one bra in this brand though, I'd just find a different Curvy Kate style and go from there.

helpfulHi, just a quick question: What happens when you pull the fabric from the bottom with your hands? Does the wrinkling then disappear? To me it simply looks as if you had not adjusted yourself into the bra, or - more correctly - forgotten to adjust the fabric of the bra when you did put your boobs in it.
But I am just an amateur

I tried to do that but the wrinkling is back almost immediately.

Ah thanks

I think Nesoa is right and this bra is both too big and too small :-)

Wow, perfect analysis! :-) At this point, though, I'm wondering what styles could work for me!
