Bra fitting help » What do you think of this bra ?

Issue resolved
Thank you for all your suggestions and comments.
I will keep this bra until I find someting better for me. I will wear it just when my others bras are drying, and have no other choice, or with a racerback top.
Maybe later I will try a Ewa Michalak PL in 70D, or a bravissimo balconnette.
Original problem
I keep this one because I can change the straps (too short) with other longer straps from an old bra.
I know, my biggest brest is in a too small cup, but the smallest seems to fit. It is confortable to wear in the middle, or tightest hook, and the cups are confortable too.My questions are :
-does this bra looks horribly too small ? What do you think of the shape ?
-I tried the same bra in 75C (my bigest breast fits the cup very well with the pad, my smallest was lost even with the pad, I didn't feel supported), and in 70C (smaller than the 75B in the cups, the band was great). Do you think a 70D could be good for me ?

helpfulBonjour,
You should always fit the larger breast and pad (if necessary) the smaller. If the smaller fits, it might be damaging the larger side.
So, i think that you could do with a smaller back size - a new bra should always fit best on the loose hooks. i think you might need a 30 band in general, but perhaps 70 (32) in Ewa
The cup of this bra do not look deep enough for your bust- i think that the wires might not be wide enough for your breast shape (your breasts seem quite wide-set)

helpfulI agree with the others - that it looks like the wires are sitting on your tissue from the side.
I'm not familiar with the fit of the EM bras, but if you're ribcage is 28"-ish, I definitely think you need a smaller band and a bigger cup.

helpfulThank you everybody.
You lost me about the wide of the wires. At the end of the day, without the bra, where should sit the underwires red marks ? Just outside the breast root ? or a few centimeters outside the breast root ?
None of my bras have underwires who lives marks ON my breast. I will post an other photo and you could see exactly where the wires sits on my body. (edit : I have just posted the photo, it show my biggest breast)Isn't it more a problem of the cups being too short/small ?
I think the underwire is just sitting on scooped fat, not scooped breast tissue. But maybe I am wrong ?Updated on November 13, 2012 Flag this

I'm curious to hear what others say, but I'll throw in my two cents. :)
First, when I said it looked like the underwire sat on your tissue, I was referring to photo 4, where you're facing the left. At the top of the underwire, it looks like you have some fullness above the wire, and that the tip of the wire just slightly indents. This indicates that the wire isn't behind the tissue, but of course, it could just be the photo.
I wore a cup that was too small for several months, thinking that it fit fine because the marks looked perfect when I took it off (they were right in the crease). In retrospect, I think the only time an underwire is going to do that is if you have a bra custom made for you. I was working with a fitter, and noted that the bra looked like it fit, but that I was a little sore on the sides when I took it off. She pointed out that unless the tissue is fully contained within the cup (i.e. the underwire goes behind it), it's too small, even if the marks look like we expect they should. I realized once I went to a larger cup/small band in the bra that I could feel where tissue that I didn't even realize was a part of my breast filled in the cup on the sides.
Now, I think feel is a lot of it, and if this bra feels good and supportive, then you should keep it. But one other thing you might check - make sure you're wearing it high enough up on your body (i.e. that the cups are pulled up properly beneath your breasts). This was a mistake I was making which didn't help my confusion about how a properly fitted cup should look or not - some of the underwire marks not being where I expected them had more to do with the cups riding too low on my chest.
BTW, the yellow Lucy Cleo size 30H is the one I had a fitter check:
http://www.bratabase.com/bra/dhiod/
To my eye now, it looks like a pretty decent fit, but at first, I thought it was much too big, in part because when I take that bra off, the marks are further away from the crease than I expect they should be. But when it's on, I visibly fill in the cups on the sides, and much further back than what I think of as breast tissue. I actually have this same bra a cup size smaller/band size bigger. The wire marks look "better" when I take that bra off (i.e. they are where it looks like my breast tissue is to me), but it isn't as supportive nor as flattering as the yellow one (the cups hang lower due to the larger band, I "bounce", etc).
Good luck, I hope this was useful (and understandable - I've not had coffee yet), and I'm curious to see what others say about wire marks.
EDIT: Oh, my - I apologize for the novel. Off to definitely have some coffee.

The crease may be narrow, but you have a fairly wide root. I am fairly sure that the tissue the wire is poking is migrated breast tissue.
You may not need much wider wires - but you deffinitely need higher ones. And those will usualy be wider as well :)
So coverage is the key word here.
Now, if you say you had to alter the gore on curvy kate - so I persume the gore was too wide? I wouldn't have guessed that from this pictures. Maybe bravissimo is realy worth the shot.
Have you seen La passionatta by chantelle? the passio cherie and the lovely t-shirt bra might work for you.BTW Eliza, what happened to your bravissimo order?
-
Painter: Seeing your pictures of you in the Lucy 30H I would have said it was too small even from looking at it here. But I am probably the most pedantic here when it comes to cover. I think your fitter was very right!
@Vlatka: It got cancelled. You think I should reorder? I just ordered a 34J -JJ PL Garden to alter. Now that I'm aware of having worn my bras too low, maybe I should order this one? http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sensational-sets/mademoiselle-bra/black-blush/ln110bbl/?show=16&sort=1&level=2
-
Painter - It is a great fit as far as lucy goes :)
@Eliza - I think you should try bravissimo - they have some good coverage bras too if you've given up on halfcups :) but I hope you haven't - the tease me is stll the best fit Ive seen on you so far :) -
Vlatka: You cannot say to others they shouldn't wear wires on breast tissue and then like my look in the Tease Me. It doesn't add up :D
But as a general rule I agree I fit into halfcups yes. Only I do not like wearing too small bras :D
I'll write a post about ribs curved outward and how different bone structure gives different breast shapes in the future.
-
@Viatka - I think the key phrase is definitely "fits for a Lucy". It seems to be that all of the women I know over a certain cup size need a narrower gore than those below - I don't understand why companies don't take this into consideration.
@Eliza, I actually just ordered this a cup size larger to see how it fits. I suspect I'm going to find that I'm between cup sizes - this is generally fairly comfortable and supportive, though. but it's a little snug in the top of the cups, due to the lack of stretchy lace. The gore is also too wide, but that seems to be standard in everything I try!
-
My gores are also too wide. But they're fairly easy to alter :)
-
Painter - If you alter the gore, you will get the extra room on top so you might not need the cup up. Thank you for pointing the gore thing out, I was thinking just that - how many g+ boobs are actually far set? I have a friend that has about the same boob volume as me, but in a 34 band. Her boobs are really far set - the only ones Ive ever seen in such a size. However, when she tries on my bra, she doesnt mind the narrow gore - she actually wellcomes it as it gives her a bit of a plunge effect and puts her boobs closer. She seems to think far set boobs are something that a bra should correct. I dont agree, but I really think a narrow gore will work for most g+ women.
@Eliza - i havent noticed the wire in tissue first time I saw the pics. I went back to see, now I know what you mean. A slightly sider and higher wires would be perfect - mabe if you went for that H cup after all :)
I hope you work up the courage to put up hp nina pics, I am really curious how that one looks on you. Hey, its all for bra science! :) -
eliza and @Viatka, the gore on the black Lucy I have is actually 1/4" wider than on the yellow one, which is wide enough! I took it in a bit, and plan to take it in further. I actually wonder if this is part of the reason the Lucy is considered to run small (in addition to the less stretchy lace, that is) - the wider gore serves to flattens you out a bit.
-
Painter: Interesting to see how the new one will fit :)
@Vlatka: Believe me; even if I have a hard time believing it myself my boobs are bigger than even that size. Go back and look at pics of me in the 34J Andorra. Notice how low the bra is.
And there is a photo here on me in HP Nina. I forgot to tell you. I didn't scope I just wanted to give you a perfect cleavage shot :D But the bra is too small if I scope sadly.
-
You are right - the andorra is too low. But it also seems too big on you? What does it do when you pull it up higher?
Btw nina looks awsome! Have you kept it? Are you getting a larger one? It looks better fit even than the tease me :)

helpfulWire on breast tissue. This wont do, i think ewa will have too narrow wires even in cupsize up. Have you tried curvy kate showgirl range? If you could make those straps work, I think you would get a better fit in the cups in tease me
Update - I see you've met curvy kate and glad to see I was right my french is bad but I would say the CK is much better fit on you than the toffik. I am supprised you have listed ewa to fit you and not cko.O now, as for the ewa - I saw you in the nude 70D it is stilll sitting on your breast tissue, that is bad and dangerous. Can cause cancer - dangerous. Do you scoop into the cups? Seems like you need more coverage on the sides. You might be better off in HP syle

Vlatka
The link between bra fit and cancer has never been proven: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=fact-or-fiction-underwire-bras-cause-cancer
-
Yes, but would you like to risk it? :)
-
About cancer risk I agree with RG. But I don't really understand how people don't make the connection with migrated breast tissue it must be harder performing a proper breast exam.
-
You're right, the curvy Kate is my best bra (I wear it all the time), but only with a center gore alteration and an extender. I can't mark it as a good fit.
I tried an HP (in 3 sizes), but the straps were really too short, I was unwearable.
For the Ewa M nude 70D, I know something is wrong with this bra (I think too deep but not wide enough ?). I didn't re-order a 70D or a CH style because of this issues.Yes, I scoop in the cups. But they are too short (and too small in one side).
-
"I think too deep but not wide enough" - that would be accurate from what I see. So PL's and CH's would be na no go. How did the HP fit in the cup? do you have any pictures of it on? If it's better, im sure Ewa would make you one with longer straps.
Anyway I would say the best fit on you will be shallow lightly padded halfcups with wider and higher wires. Bravissimo has those, I think they would be great on you - but I don't know about the straps :/Or you can always try going strapless ;) I know a lot of smaller boobed ladies that wear strapless as an everyday bra :)

Galactica and everyone
Since or bodies are all unique, why do we expect bras to fit perfectly off the shelf? Perhaps we are missing something here. You had to modify a bra to fit, as did I, and so many others. Is this a bad thing? I have to alter sleeves on EVERY long sleeve top I buy. I've also altered waistbands and other aspects of clothing. Why not bras?
-
Vlatka, I have added pictures of a CH in 75C on the tightest hook. I don't like it, and I will send it back soon.
I will look bravissimo bras.
-
What dont you like on koktajil? What are the fit issues with ch? It looks better than the pls, no?
-
The band is too big, there is ni coton lining inside the cups (just a "plastic" fabric), straps are far too small, the lace isn't pratical with most of my clothes, the blue fabric looks really cheap and plastic. The cups are not bad, in the good size, but I prefer more lift (here my breasts looks just padded).
I keep the PL because it is black, convertible straps, not visible under colthes, this size, because I can get a little support (not the case with the bigger cup size), and I really need an other bra (I just have 2 bras for now, and one for sport). I think when I will find a better bra than this one, I will sell it in the listing. -
@Vlatka, I disagree that the PL cuts are a nogo. In the smaller cupsizes the PL actually has the widest wires of all the EM cuts, it is only in the larger cupsizes that the PL wires get narrower.
@Galactica, I think your initial thought of trying this bra in 70D was right. I think you should keep the 75B, but since it is not perfect, the 70D might be a good bet.
-
I think this is interesting because it comes down to whether we see breast fat as breasts or not. I see it as breasts. But it really seems to be a matter of taste. It also sometime seems people means different things with the word "breast tissue".
