Bra fitting help » Trying to find the perfect everyday bra for my shape....Andorra?
Panache » Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675) » 34HH 34:12
Issue resolved
Going to sell the bra -- it is too large in the band.
Original problem
I found this bra on ebay pretty cheap, so I ordered it, even though I *think* I've figured out my size to be possibly 32J or 32JJ. The 34HH is a sister size, so I figured it would be a good way to test before ordering a ton of other sizes that I might have to return/exchange (I have to do all of my bra shopping online.)
I'm looking for a good everyday day bra, and my perfect bra would have:
*Enough coverage and support so I don't have any jiggling when I move
*No quadraboob showing through my shirts
*Enough coverage so I don't have to readjust my boobs at all during the day
*Nice shape that is not necessarily minimizing (I actually prefer NOT to minimize -- don't like the flattened look)
*Pretty enough that my fiance will not accuse me of wearing a granny braI'm still trying to figure out my shape, and I think I have close-set, bottom-heavy boobs with a wide root (please tell me if you see otherwise.) I also have narrow shoulders and constantly have issues with straps being too far to the edge.
The Andorra, even though the band is too large (I am wearing it on the tightest hook and can pull it several inches away from my body), it seems pretty comfortable. I am not bothered by the wideness of the wires, but am in fact pleased that all of my breast tissue is encased. The straps seem to be at an acceptable distance apart. However, there's a tiny bit of the cup at the bottom that I'm not quite filling, and I have quadraboob at the top. I can adjust myself a certain way (basically un-doing my scooping) and it will lay flat, but I don't want that. The quadraboob shows up under shirts as well, and I don't feel very supported at the top (the lace is very thin), and I feel lots of jiggle when I walk. Also, my shape under shirts seems to be very flattened, which I do not like.
(Btw, in the side view picture where I show the band, it appears as though I have no quadraboob, but believe me, it's there! You just can't see it from that angle, so I tried to add other angles.) I'm also not sure if I have "true" quadraboob or just a result of soft breast tissue (or both?)
Other than that, it's very comfortable! I just don't know what I should do. Should I just go ahead and try it in 32J or 32JJ, or should I move on to a different bra?

helpfulThis is exactly how andorra looks on me - a bit of east west thing going on, I think this is mostly because the cups are basicly too shallow. Andorra stops at J, and the 32J wouldnt look much different on you, if not worse - the tighter band might pull the cups flat and thus give you even more quadboob.
I think you should give up andorra and try the panache Jasmine in 32j. It has deeper cups than andorra, almost a cupsize deeper, it gives firmer support and nice coverage, the shape it gives is more round and more centered.straps are more comfortable but youll probably have the same too separate issue there. :/ the other bra that could work on you is the bravissimo boudoir beau in a 32Jj. now this bra gives lovely shape and coverage, and it will give you boobs of steel ) a bit less round and centered than jasmine though, but still a very nice shape. you can see how it looked on me ina a cupsize too small 30HH. you will have strap issues with that one too. However, I think jasmine is your best bet if you are not willing to compromise on shape. If you dont mind easet-west and flattened, you should try fantasie fullcups - the straps on those have center pull and full coverage. I dont know what size to reccomend though, as Im not up for that compromise
Ps. Whats your tightest ribcage measurement? You seem smaller than 80 to me and this band seems 2 sizes too big o.O
So maybe 30jj jasmine and 30k boudoir beauUpdated on November 26, 2012 Flag this

@Vlatka: Thank you for your comments! I actually wondered the same thing about going down a band size making the shape more flattened and more quadraboob, so I'm glad you mentioned it as well.
Good news, I DO have a Panache Jasmine on order in 32J! *happy dance* The bad news is that it will take 2-3 weeks to arrive (which is what makes all of this the more frustrating!) Eliza, alisa, and raspberryleaf sold me on the Jasmine in my last fit request, and now with your blessing, I am DEFINITELY looking forward to it. :)
I read your review on the Boudoir Beau, and I think I will try it soon as well. I love your description of "boobs of steel." That's exactly what I am looking for in an everyday/work bra! :) I guess I'll pass on Fantasie for now (not a fan of east/west and flattened.)
Ribcage measurement....well, I measured myself again and pulled the tape as tight as I could, and I got 30 inches (76 cm.) Is this what I SHOULD have entered? When I filled out my measurements, I was so confused on how tight I should pull the tape, so I just averaged the tightest and loosest measurements I got (tightest 30, loosest 33....which is why I wore 34 bands forever.) Am I supposed to have the tightest measurement listed then? I don't even know if I measured my perimeter correctly, either. I am not sure I ended the measurement at the correct spot. :/
@Eliza: I was hoping you'd chime in here! :) Yes, this is more on track than the Rhea. As I mentioned above, it takes 2-3 weeks for me to receive anything I've ordered from the UK or US (which is silly because I'm in Canada), so I receive some things after I've had conversations with you guys and it was after the fact. Hopefully Butterfly Collection will add more to their inventory; it would be so nice to only have to wait a couple of days to receive bras in the mail!
I agree, this pink color is fantastic! I found it on ebay and squealed a little bit when I saw it. Figleaves has a berry color in just a few sizes left, but I'm not sure if it's the same color as this one.

You should enter the moderately tight measurement - so 78 is about right. You are inbetween bandsizes - you can choose with what you feel most comfortable 30's or 32's. Or go buy what bands run loose or tight. 32J jasmine should be fine as the band on that one is firm, as is the one on boudoir beau.
Im looking gorward to your jasmine as well now :)) btw. Alisa said the bravissimo alana gives boobs of steel too, but it is bit more pointy. -
Ok, I adjusted my ribcage measurement to 31 inches, so maybe I will get more accurate recommendations on here now. I guess it's finally time to drill it in my brain that I will most likely never need a 34 or 36 band (old habits are hard to break lol.)
I almost forgot about the Alana! I tried it on in a horribly incorrect size (34GG), but I could tell it had great potential. When I am able to order from Bravissimo, I will order an Alana and a Boudoir Beau. What sizes would you recommend for those? I recently purchased some bra extenders, so I am now prepared if the band is a little too tight for my liking at first. :)

BumbleBean: I've found it now. Not in my size though. I wonder if it's a color that will come up in the future or something. I couldn't be a discontinued style because then it would have had more pictures I think. It's not the berry. I might need to twitter @lovepanache to find out :D
Anyhow back to you: I think you've measured your rib cage properly. You're in between band sizes so you could choose. Measuring for band size is hard because there is two different bra fitting schools. The Polish (and later Germand and Busenfreudinnen) and the "war on plus four". The Polish would have fitted you into 36 or 34bands as they go by the cm measurements and says that's your actual band size. Which is exactly what war on plus for opposes. The two ways of bra fitting has their own pluses and minuses and some day or another I do think someone will make a bra adventure about it to help people understand why the advises differ so much :D
Don't be too confused about this, it's just good to know they are out there :)
Personally I prefer the tighter bands and my rib cage is on its tightest 78-79. alisa that has a 76 cm rib cage goes for 30 band.
I do hope 32J Jasmine will fit you but if not I'd say Nicole might be on spot with 30K. When to you think you'll receive it? :)
-
Hmm, that's interesting about the hot pink Andorra! I wonder what the story is, then. It's really, really pretty, and I'm sad that it's not a good fit for me!
I've actually never even tried on a 30 band, and my absolute tighest measurement is 30 in (forgive me, I'm American and feel more comfortable with inches instead of cm....you'd think living in Canada for 9 months would make me more used to it haha.) I thought I preferred a looser band, but I'm starting to realize now that tighter really is more supportive.
The Jasmine was shipped yesterday, so at the very earliest, I will receive it at the end of next week, if not the week after. It's a 2-3 week turnaround, usually. :(
-
I just tweeted @lovepanache. We'll see what they answer :)
You don't need to apologize using inches. When using the inches method it's actually quite convenient. So I measure 31 at my tightest. For my height (5'3"/161.5cm) that's about as wide as a rib cage will ever be without padding :D I'd never look at a 36 band again. I don't like the 34 bands either very much. For slouching they are ok though :D
It will be interesting when the Jasmine arrives at least :)
-
Wait until you get the jasmine and we will know more what size you need in bravissimos. Boudoir should be in the same size as the jasmine, and alana a cup up from those.
-
I'm 5'4", so we are very similar. :)
Ok, I will not buy anything else until the Jasmine arrives.
Thank you guys for your help!!!
-
Interesting! I thought you were taller. And I agree with Vlatka: wait for the Jasmine and take the other bras later.
Now @Vlatka could you see if the bottom section of Boudoir Beau comes up much higher than on Andorra? I want something like Andorra but with a low cut bottom section and narrower wires and from what I can see Cleo wouldn't do.
-
Most things have already been said, I agree with Vlatka & Eliza: wait for Jasmine to arrive then figure out your size in Bravissimo from then:)
Btw. I had no idea the Andorra came in hot pink! I love pink!
I looked exactly like you in my Andorra when I was growing out of it. From the side it still looked like an ok fit, but it wasn't. You can make it look as it fits easily because of the stretchy lace.
For the Alana: I found the shape less pointy than I expected due to reviews on bravissimo's site. I think I have an picture uploaded wearing Alana under a T-shirt and if not I can just take one.
-
I measured the vertical seam - on andorra it's 13.5 cm, beau 16cm, jasmine 16.5cm, alexa and lucy 17cm. Im pretty amazed at the difference o.O
-
@Vlatka: :D
Thank's so much! <3
It's interesting isn't it. People don't even see it. My 34J Andorra measure 14.3 sort of. So that would mean I would go for a 30J in those bras to get the same bottom fit. Maybe it would work. Actually the only bra I've tried in 30J is Tease Me and Emily and they are too small :D
-
I dont know how you got 30J as a result :) my beau is 30 HH so I would guess you'd need to go down to 30gg to get that vertical seam measurement?
And this we know will be too small. Now, this are my two cents - why not give cleo a shot? Its there and it's cheap - the worse thing it can happen is that it doesnt work and you learn something new about your boobs in the process :) marcie worked on xl hourglassy quite well :) -
Btw im looking at your 80gg hp nina.. Remind me why you let that one go? :)
-
The HP Nina is still here as is the 36G. It killed me when I used it last weekend however :D I am still leaning against buying the 38GG available on their site but I would certainly need to alter that one down.
The wires kills me in that one however. I had sores from them.
I think CHP will work better for me in the larger sizes actually.
Oh I thought your Beau was 30J. I'd be even more damned now.
I've tried some bras in 32HH and some in 32J. Antoinette was too big in 32J and the shape ohmy. Pollyanna 32J/32HH had the wires on the wrong spot. Had it been a 30J it might have fitted better. My scoped tissue sneaked outside those cups.
I am more tempted towards Jasmine than Cleo. But for one reason. If I will need a bigger cup size it's there. I am sick and tired of upsizing in Andorra :D
-
Where does it hurt you? Have you bent them? Weird, everyone raves about how comfortable ewa is o.O
I agree, jasmine would probably work better :) try it :) -
@Vlatka: Wires hurts because they are pushing my armpits in the front of my body - sitting on boobs :D So they are too narrow, I need about 18 cm I still think. I actually do think I have breast tissue in my armpits. Like not just fat but glandular tissue since the cutting in from Andorra 32J did hurt me pretty badly in the end of the summer. I even thought I had gotten an infection or something. The pain went away when I sized up to the 34J. It was about 2 months after I realized it must have been the 32J since it was the same time I used that bra. By that time I thought it was the wires, but it probably was just the d-mn fabric cutting in because if it simply being too small. The 34J Andorra is starting to do that as well now sometimes.
@Bumblebean: Panache answered. The pink was a US special and is no longer available. *sigh*
Yup will try the Jasmine. And add center pull straps to it to add to the fun :D I just have to figure out the size.
-
Aw, too bad! Well, check on ebay occasionally....that's where I found this one! :)
-
Yup I will.
-
I got my Jasmine today!!! Wow, that was the fastest shipping from the UK I've ever experienced (just a little over a week!) I THINK I am really impressed, and I THINK the 32J fits! I will add measurements and pics tomorrow to see what you guys think.
Even though many advised against it, I also got an Ariza in a 32J as well, and I think I like it! Many said it wasn't good for full on bottom boobs, but I actually kind of like it. I'll post it tomorrow as well.

helpfulI think it's important to keep in mind that the band on the Andorra runs true to size, but the cups are typically a full cup size smaller (For example, I wear a 40HH in Panache Tango, Sienna, etc., but need a 40J in the Andorra).
I've found that it takes a bit of "settling" to sit in the Andorra comfortably, or I will have double boob. If you put your hand in the cup and grasp the lower front panel and pull up (without making your boob fall out of the bottom), this usually helps. But that's just me.
I think whatever you try next, it should be a 30K. Hope that helps!

Hey, I know you -- I've read your blog! :)
Thanks for the advice as well. I can actually make the bra appear to fit better if I adjust a certain way, but it seems like I'm just defeating the purpose of the scooping (it feels like I'm putting 'everything' back where it was before, if that makes any sense.) I wasn't aware that the Andorra did not run true to size in the cup, so I appreciate you telling me that.
So, you think the next size I should try is a 30K? I probably will do that. I've never tried a band smaller than 32 or a cup larger than HH (I have a 32J Jasmine on order, though), so I am hopefully getting closer to finally figuring out what size to wear.
-
Thanks for reading my blog! :-)
Just going off your ribcage measurement, I think you could realistically do a 32J or 30JJ/K depending on brand and comfort. With your size breasts, I think a 30 is going to be more supportive and last longer, but ultimately, it's going to be up to you to decide what is comfortable and doable.
If you were to try Curvy Kate (I don't know if you have or not), I would definitely suggest the 30K as the bands are stretchier and the cups run small entirely across the brand.

helpfulI agree with Vlatka on you needing deeper cups. I just wanted to add to her suggestions.
For Fantasie, check out the Fantasie Kara Fullcup. I personally think it is a great bra, bc it is uncomplicated, works on many women and unlike other Freya/Fantasie bras the band is on the tight side with stable wires up to 38K.
The Fantasie Kara is currently still available in rapsberry (a deep pink) in your approx. sizerange on ebay.
I can also highly recommend the Bravissimo Melrose/LinearRose/Fleur bra.

Thank you so much! I was hoping you'd comment on here. :)

Yup, like we said before; Jasmine will work better (since you're fuller on the bottom than the top). The bottom is cut higher on the Jasmine and hence suits bottom heavy breasts more.
The lower cut the bottom section the worse for full on bottom I'd say.
While both Andorra and Jasmine seems to be seen as "this will work for everyone" I don't think that's true anymore. I definitely think low cut bottom sections are suited to very few and that's why there are so few bras out there cut that way.
I could go on and on and on about this subject since the only one I know that simply cannot wear high cut bottom sections seems to be myself XD
With that said; you look tons better in the Andorra than the Rhea so you're certainly heading in the right direction :)
But the color of this Andorra; hot pink?! Is it really this hot pink color?! Because if that's so I got to have that Andorra version!!! I'm pink to the bones XD
