Bra fitting help » How many cup sized up would I need to fit in this bra?
Curvy Kate » Princess Balcony Bra (CK6001) » 30J 30:13
Issue resolved
I got a lot of great advice from people, and have decided that these Curvy Kate bras are just not going to work for me, sadly. I am trying a Cleo Alexa in 30J and a Bravissimo Dotty Spot (Black) in 30JJ to compare myself to some similarly-sized ladies, as apparently this one runs a bit small and those run a bit large, and hopefully by the end of all this I will have a much better idea of what I need! Very grateful for all the advice and support frmo the community.
Original problem
So, this is obviously too small. The question is, how much? There is some wrinkling at the bottom of the cup because it just doesn't have the volume I need down there. Also, the straps are too wide, perhaps because the cups are a little widely spaces for my frame. So I don't think I would buy this particular bra in another size anyway, but I like other Curvy Kate bras. I'm posting this mostly to get an estimate on how many cup sizes up I would need, but also in hopes of comparing and contrasting it to the Kris Line bra I posted a Fitting Help entry for. I appreciate so much all the help I'm getting on this site! I can't wait to order new bras and then helpfully review them here. Thank you so much in advance!

helpfulOh dear. How about giving up on CK bras? They just don't work for full on top which I now am certain you are
Anyway, from the look of it it's AT LEAST 3 cups too small and they only go up to a K so it's a no go for you. That said, I'm really suprised that this is 30J o.O Maybe it's a misslabled item?
I ask because I got this look in 32G and 32GG princess
http://s16.postimage.org/njodkiwp1/image.jpgI've given up on CK alltogether. It's not a shape I like anyway even though they do look supercute on the hanger.

Oops I just saw the nipples. They sit way lower than Vlatkas so that will make you maybe be better of copying brasIHate or Gervaise. :O
-
And are you really sure about being full on bottom? It doesn't even look one bit like that? But I know looks can be deceiving :-)
-
@Vlatka - CK unpadded bras don't work for heavy on the bottom boobs either... I would recommend to every bigger busted girl here, looking for advice - try Cleo Alexa!
-
Seeing the measurements This is definitely the 30J btw XD But hey your perimeter is 40 and This bra is 31 :) And you look as if you have firm boobs so you probably need all that cup depth :)
-
Heh, I'm not sure of ANYTHING. I'm still figuring everything out. I'm probably closer to round, I think - I just know if there isn't space at the bottom of the cup, I can't get into it properly.
I think you're both right about Curvy Kate, sad as that makes me, although I was hoping the padded styles would maybe work better... Am giving up for now.
It's possible this is mislabeled, which would explain my confusion about comparative sizing with Kris somewhat.
I am trying to figure out how to search for a specific user, but haven't gotten it yet. Looking forward to checking out the ladies you both have recommended. Thanks so much!

Oops, missed several comments while typing! I do have pretty firm boobs, so depth is definitely good. :) Just ordered an Alexa in 30J due to multiple recommendations - it won't be here for a bit (has to cross the pond en route, alas), but I can't wait to post an update about it when it arrives!

http://brasihate.blogspot.com but remember a lot of us thinks she uses too small cups :)
-
the padded CK sadly run even much smaller than their unpadded :( Only padding that will work is Ewa and maybe comexim even though I'm still figuring ot their sizing.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing from you on alexa :)

http://www.bratabase.com/profile/3fo/ Here's Gervaise btw :)

Comexim will be too small I think. I know somebody who used to wear around a 32H UK, Comexim was a good fit on her until she went up in cupsize to a 32HH and sized out of their range. I'll have to check though. My recommendation with Comexim would be to stick with your usual bandsize and count upwards from D to get at your cupsize.
@cellosubmarine - my suggestion would be to try the Curvy Kate Emily in 30K or 32K. The Emily runs larger. I also think you need deeper cups, so trying a Freya/Fantasie bra in 30K or 32K would be a good idea. If you can find it (ebay, figleaves) the Fantasie Kara Fullcup works really well. The wires on most Freya/Fantasie bras are not stable enough past 32H, the Kara is the big exception. Also the band of the Kara is on the tight side unlike other Fantasie bras.
Failing that, try the Bravissimo Alana in cupsizes KK and L. The Panache Melody sadly runs small in the cup and gives an odd fit.

helpfulI would suggest a 30KK; I don't know that two cup sizes - especially in Curvy Kate - would be enough coverage. Unfortunately, Curvy Kate doesn't make a 30KK. If you really love the bra, you could get a 32K and (if the cup fits), you could alter the band so that it fits you in a 30.
Have you tried Ewa Michalak? She will custom sew bras, and it looks like they would suit your shape. ((Meaning, cups have more depth and the placement of the wires would be better for your seemingly centered breasts - as opposed to wide, which they don't look to be). Curvy Kate is a brand that works better for wider breasts which you have not!
EDIT: Some have found that the Princess bra, in general, can run anywhere from 1 cup - 2 cups too small, as compared to the other oddities in size for Curvy Kate bras. The Angel, I would say, is more in line with "curvy kate sizing" - which is always 1-2 cup sizes smaller than other brands like Panache.

Hi, The bra is riding up on the back, so the band size would better be 28, the cups size (i am just guessing) L. So, the cupsize should be at least 4 sizes bigger.
Ayca, http://www.slimwear.nl -
It actually *doesn't* look like her band is riding up, though it is hard to tell in the picture whether it is level with the floor or not.
Her ribcage measurement is 29", so she may be comfortable in a 28 or 30 band. However, again, she would need to have something specially made, especially if she went down to a 28.
-
Thank you both. The band does ride up a bit (or did, back when I could actually wear it), but I had pulled it down in the picture. Urgh. Bras = so difficult! Thanks again!

Vlatka Princess runs smaller in the cup than for example Emily and Romance and Princess is known for cutting in while Romance and Emily works better for full on top.
I'd say you're right about CK however. This is not the shape cellosubmarine will benefit from.
I think the two of you look like clones, only I'd say you two differ in about two cup sizes. So I stick with suggesting 30K and copying Vlatka in what bras to wear XD
