Bra fitting help » Curvy Kate Daily Boost: Cups too far apart and big- worth another try?
Curvy Kate » Daily Boost Balcony Bra (CK1801) » 28K 28:15
Issue resolved
Though I found that band extenders would fix a lot of the issues I had with this bra, the straps were just too far apart to be comfortable so I returned it.
Original problem
There's some crazy stuff going on with this fit. I get quadraboobing in the front, but don't fill up the cups on the side and the bottom. The band is also too tight and the straps too far apart.
My question is, is it worth trying in another size? I got it shipped from Figleaves and I live in the USA so it'll be expensive if I have to send it back and forth, but it would be worth it to find a good T-shirt bra.
I don't know if trying it in a 30J would fix the problems I'm having here! Any input?

helpfulI have no personal experience with the Daily Boost but I have read few positive reviews about it, it seems like the bra has a few fit "quirks" and a lot of women seem to have trouble getting the correct fit.
That said I just think Curvy Kate might not be the right brand for you. Their bras tend to have wider shallow cups and I think this might be what is causing your problem. The cup is too shallow for you to fit into the bottom, causing overspill at the top and there is empty space at the side due to the cups being too wide.
I also noticed that the bras you have entered as a good fit are all Freyas, this also suggests that the problem is just the shape isn't right for you since Freya bras tend to have narrower deeper cups than Curvy Kate. Sounds like Freya and perhaps Cleo are your friend

Generally speaking the Curvy Kate and Panache bras tend to have wider shallower cups than Freya - I am the opposite shape to you and need wide shallow cups. There are some exceptions to every rule of course and every now and then I find a freya that fits such as the Antoinette or the Arabella.
Fantasie is a sister brand of Freya and may suit you also. The Panache Cleo line tends to have cups that are narrower and deeper than usual for Panache - putting them perhaps between Freya and the regular Panache bras, so they might work also. I have also heard that Lepel and Flirtelle may run deeper in the cups however, I have no experience with these brands so it's hard to say much about them.

Im si happy someone else said "give up curvy kate", they might sue me if I said it one more time :)
Joking on the side, I really do believe that CK generaly doesnt work for small underbust-deep breasts combo. If it fits, it gives that dreaded upsidedown 7 look nobody wants.
I think you might be borderline sized out in cleo - they only go up to J but it's worth a shot, I think Juna would look very different on you. Freya Lacy can pass as a T-shirt bra.
Other than that, I think Ewa Michalak is your best shot. -
If you are looking for Freya-styled T-shirt bras, look at some of Fantasie's molded bras like the Ava, Rebecca, or the Smoothing T-shirt bra. They have been great for me, though I would say they run a little bigger than most of the unpadded Freyas I've tried.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, everyone! I'll definitely take a look at all those bras. :D So much stuff to try on!

Also second Vlatka's suggestion of Ewa Michalak, I forgot all about them.

helpfulA friend of mine who sells bras in a speciality DD+ store called the Daily Boost "the bra from hell" bc it is so hard to get a good fit. Unlike other CK bras it does not allow a lot of volume on top, it is very closed. This causes the cup to run several cupsizes small.
My suggestion would be to try the Curvy Kate Smoothie instead, this is modelled on the Freya Deco and runs large in the cup. It is available in 28-30J, 32HH, 34H etc.
BroodsBigBras wears a 36K and managed to squeeze herself into the 36GG CK Smoothie. http://broodsbigbrasblog.com/2012/09/05/things-havent-been-running-so-smoothie-ly/ So I am hopeful that one size or another will work for you in the Smoothie.

Yes! I had forgotten about the smoothie :)

Oo, the Smoothie is super pretty- I don't think it comes in anything but black, though, unfortunately ;_; I'm really looking for a bra I can wear that won't show through my shirts!
It looks like Curvy Kate just has a really different sizing system than what I'm used to. Sigh. The search for a bra continues.

I've seen the Smoothie in a light rose pink and a pinkish cherry red. It is often said that one cannot see red bras under white shirts, so maybe look at that?

helpfulThis bra is actually looks very too small on you. It's giving you cleavage to the level of quadraboob. This is a bra based on the same shape as Princess, which means that it's not a cleavage bra, even though it might look like one.
The extra space you have close to your arms is because the bra is too wide, just like you said, and, because it's too small actually. The extra depth you have that don't fit into the bra is being bunched up, which leaves empty space. At the same time the too wide cups means that your arms push the cups forward, which also gives the empty space.
In reality you would probably need a cup size up or even two, but, then it would be even wider, which partly would make the fit even worse. So, this is probably just not a good style for you... In general it seems to be tricky fit for those with a deep shape, and in larger cup sizes as the bra is quite shallow and turns wide quickly, and you seem to be in both cathegorys.

After trying it on again, I realized you're right about it being too small. I think I need a much bigger band size (I never thought I'd be saying that!) If I hold the bra up to my root without fastening it in back, it actually fits a lot better- I think the tight band is just drawing the whole bra too far out. The cups are still a bit too wide (and the straps too far apart- I guess those go hand in hand) but it could work...
I dunno, I'm on the fence about sending this one back for a different size, trying it with an extender, or just scrapping the idea of the Daily Boost working at all!

helpfulMight it be that you are not wearing the band in the right place?
You have noted that the band stretches to less than your underbust measurement. In the third picture, it looks as though you could pull the bra up so that it is sitting at your breast root, and that would give you more room in the bottom and the top of the cup.
I think perhaps the band it too tight to allow you to position it correctly? i am not certain, but with the numbers you have given and the fit in the third photo, i think it might be worth using an extender, and pulling the bra upwards. In this way you should reduce the amount of space you have at the bottom, and given more room up top!

Yes and yes! I tried moving the band up after I read the comments on this, but it's just too small to be comfortable at that point on my ribcage.
The extender idea is a good one- I think that might actually help a lot. The cups fit a lot better if they're not being pulled around to my back. Have to go out and find an extender, though! I'll hold off on sending it back to Figleaves until I figure this out.
Thanks so much for the help!

helpfulFrom my experience, the Daily Boost runs about a band size small, and about 1-2 cup sizes small as well.
I would like to note that you *are* wearing your bra too low, and it really doesn't look like the wires are sitting directly underneath your boobs. Pull up your band and see if that helps.
Also, this is a bra that you have to let settle. Wear it for a day and see if you settle into the bottom of the cups. If not, then not the bra for you!

Thanks so much for the help!
I gave it another try and shimmied the band up. (It doesn't want to stay there, I think because it's too tight and I'm a little narrower an inch or so down from where the band should be. It did look a little better, but I still had all the same problems with it. I think my boobs are just too close-set for this bra :(
I'd try wearing it for a day as per your suggestion, but it's really too uncomfortable- it leaves red marks if I wear it for just a few minutes! I guess it's just not for me.

Thanks for the help! I think you may be right. The shape just doesn't seem like it's right for my body. And it's been ages since I've found a not-Freya bra that fit me (and was in my price range- tried on a $100 bra at Intimacy that was perfect, but no.)I'd stick with Freya, but I really need more T-shirt bras and the closest Freya has in my size is the Deco in 30GG- not quite right, and also a bit wide-set for my boobs.
I took the liberty of checking what bras you marked as fitting and it looks like you've found quite a few brands! How do you find the other Curvy Kate models and the Panache bras compare to Freya?
