Bra fitting help » empty fabric in the cups - why?

Issue resolved
I just finally solved my issues with Jasmine!
Here's what I did: I made the straps shorter and took in the center gore.
Ok the center gore thing I had already done, but the straps thing? Why did I not come to that solution earlier? I don't know, I just never imagined that the shoulder straps are responsible for my issues with this bra.
The empty fabric on bottom is gone now and I finally know that I don't need a smaller size in this bra! 30JJ is just right
Original problem
I really really love this bra and I want to make it work but some issues just won't sort themself out.
Today when I put this bra on, did proper scooping & swooping. It looked & fitted like it should.
Then 2 hours later I didn't felt good anymore in it. I always end up with empty fabric o the sides & on the bottom of the cups.
Also I feel like the weight of my boobs do drag the bra down in the front.
Otherwise weirdly it feels like the band rides up?!I don't know what's wrong with it!
Too big? Too small?
Do I need a bigger band?
Bigger cup?Or is this bra just wrong for me and I should just break up with it and never look at it again?

helpfulOrange in a glass syndrom?
I get the same thing in this bra and most bras. The Jasmine does it less than others, as does the Cleo Meg (Meg doesn't work for me, though, because it's better for full on top and I'm definitely bottom heavy and I end up with major gaping in the top section). You say you have a wide root, but it looks narrow in those pictures. If your finger is where the root ends, the wires are too wide for you. They are for me as well. Better than other Panache, but still too wide. Because of the way the straps pull, though, the wide wires seem to work okay for me because the straps keep the breast forward and out of the part of the cup under the arm.
Ewa Michalak worked for me with the narrow wires... but I see you have 2 and they didn't fit. Several Cleos you have seem to fit, so that might be a better style for you.
Ewa Stalowka does not have the empty fabric in the cups for me, but I have to tighten it SO TIGHT to keep it from riding down and then having the empty fabric at the bottom. I attribute it to my heavy breasts that really WANT to sag.
I'm a total newbie at fitting bras, but I thought I'd give you my experience with this bra, as it seems we have some of the same issues.
braologie posted about cups not having enough structure a while ago and I think this might be the issue with the Jasmine vs. the Stalowka. The padded cup of the Stalowka inherently has more structure than the Jasmine. If you lay them both down on the table, the cup of the Stalowka retains its shape while the Jasmine just lays flat. Hmmmmmmm.

braologie here I made a comparison of what I guess would be my size i PL Stalowka & 30JJ Jasmine: http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dhivl/

mtblankus honestly sometimes I don't know if my root is wide or narrow ... ok sounds weird, but I mean it that way: I have no comparison what is "normal" "wide" "narrow" on a person with my measurements, frame , body shape etc.
Since I can get a decent fit in Panache Tango & Ariza, I thought I have a rather wide root. Also braboratory measuements said I have a wide root and deep boobs.
I think my problems with Jasmines are probably not about the size but about the construction :(
Sadly I didn't had succes with any Ewa michalak bra I tried. I couldn't get a decent fit. The bras felt not supportive & I could not get the gore to lie flat. I'm just incompatible with Plunge bras.
Btw. you look awesome in Stalowka :)

helpfulIf the boobs drag the bra down, where is the band to go but up?
This means that either the whole bra is to weak for your boobs or that the band has streched out a bit so you need to move to the second hook - I had that case with my jasmine. As for the wires, they are just too wide, but a simple alteration would make all the issues better - alter the gore

Oh let's see if Jasmine gets the same improvement as Superbra Ariza?
I doubt it, but I'm interested of seeing the results! :)
I'm contemplating the difference between Jasmine Tango Ii Balconette 30JJ http://www.bratabase.com/browse/panache/tango-ii-balconette-3251/30JJ/
The wires in Tango are wider but the cup is smaller/more pointed, which leads me towards the cups in Jasmine just being too big. But that doesn't sound right either because 30J Jasmine gave quadboob where Tango 30JJ doesn't. But Tango 30JJ has incup quadboob which is what makes it so supportive and take away the top quadboob and that in all makes it fit better than Jasmine.
So I would say rather the cups are too wide than the wires too wide? Or the Tango wires are also to wide but they still fit better than Jasmine because the cup is less roomy? Uh do I make any sense? :D
-
The other explanation feels true - jasmine allows bolume in top whereas tango seems to push it down.
And I do think alering the gore would help as I tried it myself, it brings cups closer together.
And I think if alisa altered the gore on 30j it wouldn't give quadboob. -
Vee Ah I see! It's that why there are no pics of you in 30JJ Jasmine here? :) Because you have that one as well right?
So Jasmine runs bigger than Tango in the cup in reality?
I'm thinking something like since everything lifted and concentrated in Ariza and Tango it won't give quadboob but instead lift everything up while Jasmine just cannot hold it. So far at least.

Vee ,Branarchist ,
Honestly I think the bra is too weak...
I doesn't seem to be a size issue here (I don't think 30K would be better) but I have to say that the 30J felt more supportive than this one. But it was borderline too small :(I have altered the gore of Jasmine yesterday (quickly for testing) and it did get a bit better but I don't get the Ariza effect.
After 2 hours of wearing the altered bra, I ended up with empty fabric on bottom again. Not as severe as before but still...
I think now that the problem is: the cups of jasmine allow a lot of volume on top. My center heavy boobs just like to go wherever they want in a bra if they can (like falling out of the middle in a plunge bra)
now in Jasmine my boobs just go to the midde & fill out the top sections leaving the bottom of the cups empty.I had asked myself why I get along with bras that are not constructed for full-on-top boobs and I think I found the answer:
Bravissmo balconettes - thight top section - kept my boobs in place & secure.
tango with it's shallow cups does the same, by pushing my boobs towards my body.
I had a lot of jiggling in Cleo bras & Jasmine. I get boobs of steel in Ariza & Tango (Beau & Alana too)I don't think the Tango pushes my boobs down (or just a bit) but it pushes my boobs closer to the body.
It's like compresion vs. projection.
I think I don't get along with bras that give a lot of projection. What do you think? -
Like I said, I think jasmine would work for you in 30J with altered gore.
I also feel like I get no support if my boobs aren't held as close as possible to my body, that's why I wrote this
http://www.bratabase.com/profile/3bw/adventures/963/This is why I think your explanation is right, but I will be more sure once I try ariza myself :)
-
Vee so you think that wearing a bra slightly too small (but with altered gore) gives more support than wearing it in the right size...? Could be true, remember when I was raving about the support Ariza (the 32J) gave me? That I could wear it as a strapless? Proves the too small bra theory.
-
Yes, it's the BIHAL way of fitting, and it makes sense for full on top boobs that would need 30H on bottom and 30K on top.
And one gets boobs of steel/no jiggle only when the boobs are somewhat compressed. If there's room, there's jiggle. -
I'm probably a mix between 30J (bottom) & 30K (top) which makes me a 30JJ but it does not work in all bras.
Tango is shallow that's why I can wear the 30JJ and even need a 30K. -
alisa Sounds we are the same in the top department. Top is compressive since soft and also really wants to float around :)
I think in Andorra 32H worn high I have the same effect as you in Ariza? Round, pushed up, centered. I've never seen my boobs looking better than in that experiment.
I would say in general green +close to the body makes boobs look the best.
@Vee I'm still totally psyched about you trying Ariza. I am so extremely curious. I wonder whether the difference between the firmness between the two of you might give you quadboob. Soft boobs is more compressable.
Oh you should try that crazy measuring idea I had with measuring as tight as possible on the boobs. That one still confuses me :)
-
Branarchist , Oh yes I remember you in 32H Andorra :) I think the same effect happens to me in Ariza. I got lots of compliments on my Ariza adventure so therefore it was not just me imagine that my boobs look good. (I couldn't believe it, when I first tried the bra on)
And I have another theory: maybe I had all those fit issues with Ewa Michalak bras because I was wearing too big cups?
Maybe the bras fit better if slightly too small in the cups? -
alisa Of course you will get compliments becausee it looks awesome :)
And yes, I think Vee said something like that about Ewa bras also, that they did fit her better in smaller sizes? Or maybe it was just that they only gave her the green shape in those sizes, I don't remember exactly.
I think "too projected" should get into the bra fitting vocabulary because I think that says very very much. For example; we might spill when our bras are projected but not when they are closer to our bodies.
I actually think I have the blue shape inside my 34J Andorra, though it doesn't look that way since my boobs just happens to be so shallow.
-
Vee , Branarchist ,
I still couldn't made up my mind if I want to try this bra in a smaller cup-size... it's quite crazy, I wear 34J in Ariza which is 2 cup sizes bigger than Jasmine in 30J / 32HH?!
How could I fit into a 32HH Jasmine??? I'm thinking 32J would be better, but that's just the same as 30JJ only with a bigger band... -
alisa It sounds you and I are starting to have more and more of the same problems. Can you measure the bottom sections height in your bras? Because I figure something like what gives you support in bras might correspond somewhat with what makes bras fit me at all. It might be you are better off with low cut bottom sections. Jasmine is high cut just like your Bravissimo bras were. Maybe Tango Ii Balconette and Superbra Ariza spreads the bottom tissue more evenly while Jasmine projects it forward? I would probably need a 32H/HH to make Jasmine fit me.
Maybe I will fit into your other bras as well as I fit into Andorra.
-
Branarchist , Yes but I cannot make up my mind on how we compare exactly... once we thought, you and I have a totally different shape & now we are more and more alike?
However I'll do that measuring, maybe it get's me a clue why I have the empty fabric issues with Jasmine but not with the Tango or Ariza.
I'm so desperate to make that Jasmine fit and I miss the Andorra very much, it was so comfy! :(Superweird & crazy thought: could it be that I need shallow cups to get a good fit?! o.O Tango, which is known as being shallow, is a decent fit, Ariza that is less shallow than Tango but still is also a good fit and remember, when I fit into a 30J Andorra wasn't it quite good?
Jasmine which has deep cups & does offer projection is more or less a fail... also Ewa Michalak bras are a so far not working... I know this may sound crazy... what do you think? -
Why don't you try altering the gore on this one and see what happens? If it frees enough space on top, then you could safely go down one cup. Don't forget how stretchy that lace is! :)
-
Oh and I just saw the other posts... I'm not sure how to compare to you two either. I think alisa has a wider root than me and my boobs are maybe more dense? maybe alisas root is getting larger and branarchists boobs deeper from migration? I'll know more about alisa when I get ariza, maybe if you Branarchist try the exact same bra as us two, we'd know more?

Vee, I have already altered the gore on Jasmine, the band feels now suddenly too tight (that's why I'm considering a 32 band.)
I don't know about more space on top... maybe I just have to try it... to bad there are no Jasmines in these sizes on sale :( -
And what happens if you add an extender?
-
Ok, I'll do that and take some pictures later.
-
Vee Yes I figured I should buy a pink 30JJ Tango Ii Balconette for science :D
Maybe alisa should buy a 34J - Panache » Andorra Full Cup (5675) and alter the gore and see if it would work :D For science :D If it doesn't fit she could just send it to me anyway :D
I think I might have become softer from weightloss due to illness mostly and yes I think alisa is getting a wider root. And yes I do believe the difference between you too is that you're more dense.
Maybe something like full on top and full on bottom still needs shallow bottom sections because otherwise the top tissue pushes the whole boobs downwards? Or something?
Because from what I can see Tango has a shallow bottom section *and* top section, just like the Andorra. While Jasmine probably is closer to Freya bras in fit with both allowing full on top and bottom? I really have to buy both the Tango and Ariza to know.
It looks as if Fern has the highest bottom section after Jasmine so it will be interesting to see how this will turn out :D
Also my boobs are mostly made up by bones :D
-
Vee , Branarchist I sent you some pictures.
I found out that I only need 1 extra hook to make the band comfy again. So does sizing up in the band really make sense or not.
Oh and I did compare the bottom section height of some of my bras: Panache Tango and Jasmine are quite similar and Fern is +0.5cm. They are all 16.5-18cm. So I don't know if it makes a difference.
But I got another theory... since the bottom section of Jasmine is too big for me (hence the empty fabric) I need a smaller size to give me enough support (and don't allow my boobs to escape towards the middle / spill out of the top like they do, when not pushed close to my body.

helpfulIf you feel the boobs dragging down the front, it will drag up the back, this is one of the reasons for the ride up you are having. This is all because the weight of the breast, maybe find something with better cup support.
Empty fabric on the side and bottom, can you fix that by wearing the bra higher? You might be able to fill the bottom but then the cups might be too small for you at the top.
thanks for listening.

I came to the conclusion that the construction of the Jasmine is probably just a bit too weak to keep my boobs in place.
I'm curious if you make bras in my size and which one you recommend.
-
When I contacted them about a bra for me, and sent pictures of me in the (smaller cupped than Jasmine) Fantasie Kara in 32K, they sadly told me they don't make bras in that size :(
Maybe in the future!
-
if you can find pictures of the two bras then we can further comment on the cups.
