Bra fitting help » In cup quadboob & wires short on side
Bravissimo » Boudoir Beau (PA07) » 30HH 30:12
Issue resolved
I'll look around for a 30J Boudoir Beau on sale.
Original problem
Hi, ladies! This is my first fit request, so please bear with me. I posted a bra adventure the other day asking about the wires pressing into my sternum. I looked at the center gore and noticed that some of the stitches were missing from one of the wire casings (I bought it lightly used). I sewed some stitches there, and now the wires don't dig in anymore. (mini yay!) I have large/somewhat puffy areolas, and my husband noticed the in cup quadboob before I did. It shows on the side profile. It's worse in person, and I had difficulty taking a picture of it. The wires are short on the sides and throughout the day I have to rescoop my tissue from my underarms. They also feel like they're digging into the sides of my breasts a bit. I scooped and swooped some more and did notice some quadboob outside of the cup, but I'm not sure if this is enough quadboob to size up to a 30J for... My current size in Panache/Cleo is 30HH and I've heard that Bravissimo bras run slightly small in the cups. Measurements wise, this bra is small in both cup depth and wire length than say my 30H Cleo Alexa (my best fit atm, despite the band- I should've bought a 28HH). The band on this bra is a good fit for me. I can pull it away about an inch and it stays in place. I kinda feel like I'm babbling here, so I'm going to stop talking. lol
Thank you in advance for any advice!Edit: I scooped a lot more, and now have quadboob and the band feels looser

helpfulI think that a 30J could be really good in this one on you. Even without the additional quadraboob after scooping you mention the cups are too small. The breast point sits too low and the edge of the cup presses on the breast tissue and creates an odd angle where there should be a continual siluette where the cup ends at the top. So, I definitly think this bra is small enough in the cup to make it worth to size up a cup size.
What probably will happen though is that you will have more pressure from the wires. The wires of Bravissimo bras are very firm and they do tend to press hard again the ribcage at he top of the center piece. What you do then is just to bend the wires outwards there. They will then still lie against your ribcage but it will reduce the pressure. All you want is for the center gore to lie flat, it doesn't need to actually stab you. (I've had blue bruises after wires before bending them when the cup actually has been fine.
The band is hard to say anything about. A larger cup, which now will fit, will most likely make the band feel a bit more loose along the top of the band. The bottom should be fine. On the other hand, this one was bought used so it might have been stretched. Sadly Bravissimo doesn't do any bras in a 28JJ or 28K, so a 30-band will be your only option. Does the band actually ride up when you move or does it only feel loose?
When it comes to Bravissimo in general I would not recommend the rest of the full-cup balconette (like Alana , and other similar to it. You will most likely need another cup size up from the Boudoir Beau as this bra is much looser in the top edge than the other fuller cups. You might however like Linear Rose Bra and the other bras with the same cut, Fleur Bra and Pretty As A Pin Up Bra . None of these come in a 28-band but I think all of them run quite tight in the band.
You might also like some of the plunge bras. They are all much more open along the top of the cup than the balconettes, and, in my experience you can probably wear the same size as in Buodoir Beau in them. Some run loose in the band though, so check that first.

What about Tango II and Ariza, or even Fern? I'm hoping to get a few bras off eBay to try out.

Oh yeah, the band doesn't ride up in this bra, it's just loose

I think that a 28J in Alexa probably is your best bet... My guess is that your will be a 28J or a 30J in most unpadded Cleos dependong on how the fit. In Zia Balconnet you will probably need a 30J, in Meg Balconnet a 28J will probably be okay. A 28 in Marcie might also be worth trying.
Personally I wouldn't suggest the Tango Ii Balconette , I don't think it will work with your shape as it is waaaaaaay wider and shallower than the unpadded Cleos like Alexa. In larger band sizes it seems to work better in the largest cups, but around hours it most isn't worth it. However when it fits the support is amazing. I seem to be about a cup size smaller than you and while 28HH in Alexa/Chloe/Zia/marcie/Natasha works for me, I'd need a 28JJ or 28K in the Tango II Balconette to get enough projection and then the wires end up at my back and the cups have too much space under the arm. It's just way off in proportions in this part of the size range.
Superbra Ariza might however be worth trying, it is also quite deep and narrow and generous in the cup. Most colours seem to start at a 30-band but I think a 30 will be fine on you, it is on me in most colours and my ribcage is 27". They run tight in the band. I would suggest a 30J there though.
Fern might be good and might be horrible. It's hard to say. In general it seems to work better for your size than the Tango II Balconette so I would definitly suggest trying that one over the Tango.
I think that the Jasmine might still work for you in that size. It might be too big in the back, but that would all Jasmines be as it starts at a 30-band. In cup size I would put you in a 30HH or a 30J in it, probably more of a 30HH. So, don't give up on that one.
You might also want to check out Paloma and Carmel , both of the shorter wires and narrower deeper cups new bras.

Thank you so much! I'm freaking out less now lol. I'm crossing my fingers that the Jasmine fits cup wise. I think I'll try Ariza because it's available on eBay. For Marcie did you mean 28J?

asheand55 , I had the same issues with my Boudoir Beau , tissue did escape on the side because the wires were too low.
If you really love the bra (despite the issues) I would suggest trying a 30J.
In Alana and it's clones (most bravissimo balconettes) you need probably 2 cup sizes up. They do all have a quite tight upper cup section which tends to cut in. But honestly... if you can make Panache & Cleo bras work for you, I would stick to them.
Bravissimo Fleur does have very narrow wires ( 32K wires are as narrow as Panaches in 30J!) but also the top section does run super tight and does push (especially full-on-top boobs flat. So you either have to size up & and tighten the straps all the way to get rid of wrinking in the cups like I had to with 32K - Bravissimo » Fleur Bra (LN103) , or look like me in 30K - Bravissimo » Linear Rose Bra (SB34)Cleo Zia, Marcie & Natasha do have a tighter band than Alexa / Meg.
You could get away with a 30 band in these bras.
Meg, Alexa, Lucy & Bonnie do have a stretchy band, 28 for you in these.
Meg, Alexa, Chloe & Marcie do run a bit more generous in the cups than Natasha or Zia (about 1/2 cup size imo)
Marcie could be a bit a tricky fit, I have not tried it in my current size but when I tried a 30HH - Cleo » Marcie (6831) I had weird issue with in – cup – quadraboob.
Cleos unpadded balconettes do all give a great shape but each one can fit quite different, so maybe you have to try several ones until you find one that works.Tango is worth trying, but it's either loved or hated. I love the support & secure feeling it gives me. Note that the wires are rather wide, and come up quite high (higher than on Bravissimo balconettes ) *cough* btw. I have a 30J - Panache » Tango Ii Balconette (3251) listed for sale *cough*
Ariza does have a super tight band, so go up 1 band size in this. Sadly there are some size inconsistencies between the different colors. The violet mix and black/ pink on ebay are newer and have improved construction, shorter wires, narrower gore, compared to the old ones.
The solid colored ones (teal, violet, nude, black etc.) can run different in size even in the same band size. So I would stick to the two colored ones, they are more reliable in sizing than the others) -
asheand55 , I forgot to add: Jasmine is such a great bra! Don't give up on it quite yet. 30HH could work for you. Even if the band ends up being a bit too big, that bra is worth altering. I'm curious how it works out. Wait for Jasmine, before you try Tango Ii Balconette , Superbra Ariza & Fern.
Oh and I agree, when I think about it, Fern could be better for you than the Tango. Sadly I found the band rather stretchy on my 30JJ - Panache » Fern (6291), I have to wear the bra on tightest set of hooks.
The band on the blue / print one does run a bit tighter though, so I would suggest trying this one, since Fern does not come in a 28 band. -
I see you poked me, but after reading what the girls wrote, really not much to add here :)
I was just wondering if you were keepin this bra/ or tying it in another size - because there is a fix with the in cup quadbob.. Runing your thumb firmly through the seam will stretch it out a bit - it doesn't solve it completly but it does become bearable and doesn't show under clothing.

Vee I have decided to sell it. I may try it in a 30J eventually. ATM, I think I'm going to stick to Cleo and Panache. Shipping from Bravissimo is expensive (I live in the US) and I'm on a budget

asheand55 , I'm glad I could help. I hope Jasmine works for you :) It's such a great bra if you can make it work.
Thank you for your thorough suggestion, Nesoa! :)
I'm hoping to stick mostly to Cleo and Panache since they're more affordable for me atm. After scooping more in my 30H Alexa, I have quadboob and the band is even looser. Because Alexa runs big, should I try a 28J? (being that it would fit like a 28JJ... I think) I do measure 28" tightly. I'm really sad now because I have a 30HH Panache Jasmine on the way that I'm worried isn't going to fit. Vee and alisa, I've seen that you both have tried quite a few Cleos in a 30J. What would you guys suggest I try first?
