Thanks everyone
Original problem
The straps are too far apart, the band fits ok but could be tighter. Are the straps too far apart because of the size or the style of the bra?

helpfulAs mentioned before, the straps should be too wide for you, because this bra is not meant for your size. Something like strap width is something you shouldn't worry about until the rest of the bra fits really.
As the back of the bra is riding up and based on the measurements, you probably need two band sizes down, to a 30-band. The cups doesn't look that bad, but then the band is super-loose as well. A tighter band will stretch the cups more and make them appear flatter and smaller. Because of that I would guess that you will need to go up another cup size. A 34D equals a 32DD and a 30E in cup volume, so my suggestion would be to start looking at 30E bras.
In general, a 30E bra should be better on the straps too as it should be made for a frame of your size. Think of it like this. Say that you usually wear a size S in a top. Then try a L instead. Of course the size L will be way too wide on shoulders and too big, just because the size is too big. It is made for a bigger body with bigger shoulders. But despite the L being too big on the shoulders the size S top can still fit you.
Here you can find what those around your size tend to go for to get some inspiration of which brands and models to look at: http://www.bratabase.com/search/?q=30E If you prefer moulded bras I would suggest trying the Freya Deco Moulded Half Cup Bra.

Well, I've said before that grading is lacking in this industry. It is very evident in my size (a 28JJ/26K) where many companies just take a sister size in a bigger band and scale down the back part.
However, I never said that it neccessarily would be good, but I said that it should be better. It definitly should be better. In some cases it might be good, in some cases better and in some cases just awful, maybe from this, maybe from other things. However, in general a correct band size should be a better fit than a way too big band.

Oh, here is an article about average shoulder width for women. It's a really short read so nothing that will keep you busy really :) http://www.livestrong.com/article/484806-the-average-shoulder-width-for-females/
They state that the average is 35 cm, but that's when measuring the bones only. The measurement of my shoulders that I provided is the measurement including the soft tissue, just like they stated at the bottom of the page :) They say the average there for a woman was 43 cm, compare that to my measurement of 34 cm and it's pretty obvious to see why I have such a hard time. Would you care to measure your shoulders Kukka ? :) It'd be interesting and you'd learn more about yourself :)

In general yes, and I didn't mean to downvote anything you said, as it is useful :) I just wanted to tell her about that to warn her that the problem might possibly not be solved by a snug enough band either.

Hey Nesoa prettyNpetite, thanks! I'm 5' 5 1/2" and I weigh around 130 or 135 I think. If I measured correctly then my shoulders are about 37cm

helpfulWell, this bra is meant for someone with a ribcage 4" wider than yours! That someone would need straps a bit wider than you do!

helpfula 30DD would have the same cup volume as this 34C. You're not quadboobing or anything but perhaps you would want one cup size up? Or maybe you would just want a bra with a wider cup to enclose what's on the side. I can't really tell from your pictures. You definitely want to go down a couple band sizes, though! Is the wire sitting where your breast crease is?

I think if the band was smaller I might have some quad boob, and I'm not really sure if the wire is sitting on my breast crease.

if your band is staying level and you're quadboobing, then you should go up in cup size. if your band is level and you're NOT quadboobing, you should make sure the bra is sitting in the right place and that you've scooped and swooped before you accept it as correct. when you're putting on your bra, hold the cup up in the right place so that the underwire falls right where your boob sticks out from your chest (where your boob sort of folds downward, even though that sounds terribly unflattering). if the cup doesn't stay there throughout the day, you have to change something about the way you're wearing your bra or the size you're wearing. if you can see marks when you've been wearing a bra for a long period of time, that's also an easy way to figure out whether they're sitting properly; if the red lines are below the crease of your breast it shows you that your bra isn't fitting

I would like to chime in and say that a bra that fits your underbust correctly doesn't necessarily fit "your size". It really does depend a lot how the person is built. I for example am only 152 cm (5 feet) tall and my shoulders are very, very narrow because of that. I need 26/28 bands and even when I'm wearing those sizes the straps are waaaay too wide-set for me! It would be interesting to know how tall OP is and what she weighs, as that often indicates a lot about your frame. She could even measure her shoulders from one end to the other end. If she's anything near my measurements she'd have a pretty hard time in any size. My shoulders measure 34 cm.
