Bra fitting help » Cup feels too narrow
Simone Perele » Romance Moulded Padding (115343) » 65D 30:4
Issue resolved
Returned it as it was clearly unfixable.
Original problem
Both Nordstrom and I measured me at 30D but this one seems not quite right. It feels like the cups themselves are just a bit too narrow. The band stretches more than I think it should but I could just use a smaller hook, I think. The straps are also harsher on my pec muscle than I'd prefer, but much better than others I tried. I'm looking for opinions on whether I should give up on this one or if there are possible adjustments. The right side photo looks more stretched than reality because that was my camera arm. I've not had much luck finding options at this size.
I also got the Celeste in the same size; much fewer concerns, except for some extra material up top.
Thanks.

helpfulYes, the underwires are definitly too narrow for you. The end of the wire is poking into your breast tissue. As the front of the cup seems to fit good, I don't think you can size up in in the cup in this one, the wire might be better but you will probably end up with too much space in the front of the bra.
I don't know how the band fits on you, but, if it is too big by making the band smaller you will stretch the wires slightly. If these photos are with the band on the loosest setting, try it on the tightest and see if there is any improvement. My guess is that the cup would still be too narrow, but, it would give you a better picture of how the bra truly fit. When wearing a bra with a band too big all cups will seem narrower than they really are when the bra fits.
However, if you do need to wear the tightest setting, you won't be able to wear this bra for a longer time, which is another sign that this might not be the brand for you. The straps don't look extremly far apart, but they do look very narrow and "harsh".
I think that you would in general would be better off in wider shallower cups with wider more comfortable straps. A version of this bra that might suit you would be the Freya Deco Moulded Half Cup Bra. You might like the half cups in general from Freya, even the seamed ones. Brands like Only Her might also be good for you, as they are made especially for the shape you have.

helpfulBesides Freya half-cups (run a bit bigger in this size), other bras you could try with wider, shallower cups are:
Cleo Juna (and all the different colourful styles with the same cut, cups run a bit small)
Cleo's unpadded balconettes, especially George (if you can still find it) and Marcie, but also Lucy, Brooke, Alexa ...
Lepel Fiore Balconette and Plunge (the plunge cups are even wider than the balconette's)
Ewa Michalak PL (plunge) bras
Fauve half-cups: Merissa, Brianna, Celine (if you can still find them)
(Sorry about all the discontinued models in the list, but Fauves, e.g., are hit-and-miss, so I wanted to give good examples.)Updated on March 21, 2013 Flag this
Thanks! Making the band smaller did help, but since that's not a long term solution, I'll keep looking elsewhere. The Only Her suggestions look promising.
