Bra fitting help » Too big all over?
Curvy Kate » Lottie Balcony Bra (CK1601) » 34JJ 34:14
I'm pretty sure the band is too big - when on the loosest hook, it rides up a bit, and I can feel the gore is tacking better when I put it on the tightest hook.
On to the cup, I feel like it could be too big? I hate how big the sheer part is, but that's jut how it is, I suppose... Makes it a bit harder to determine the fit though, as I would have hoped it would match my apex, but it probably won't.
I feel like I have to tighten the straps a lot to get a proper shape, and to avoid it folding in under my boob.
What do you say? Do you think it's reasonable to go for 32JJ, or is this just how the shape is? I had written off Curvy Kate non-padded, as I didn't care much for their shape, but this print just stood out to me, so I am hoping it can look good on me

helpfulIn my experience, Curvy Kate non-padded bras have to look big in order to fit right. Yes, you should definitely go down a band size, but you'll want to sister size to stay in the same cup volume (32K).
I think this is actually a good cup fit for Curvy Kate's non-padded. If you try the 32JJ, you might settle into the bottom of the cups better, but then you'll get a less round look (it will look more square and flattened over the apex of the bra). Curvy Kate's bras are notorious for being shallow in the bottom of the cup, so even in the right size, you won't completely fill out the bottom. As long as the wires are sitting directly under your breasts, I think you're okay. Remember, you have heavy breasts, so the fabric and cut may just not be the best for your heavy breasts
I am pretty full all around, and I still have a smidge of wrinkling in the bottom of my cups in my new 38K Portia, but the shape is fab, the wires tack, and the band is perfect. It's really just a bra cut thing more than anything else.
As I mentioned, for what it's worth, other than the band being too big this is actually a good fit in the cups.

helpfulNormally when my nipples sit too high and there is wrinkling at the bottom of the cup my bra is sitting too low. From the pictures it looks like our boobs are shaped similarly- that is full on bottom and kinda full in the middle. (Do your boobs tend to fall toward the middle in certain cuts? That's what I'm talking about. )
Is the underwire coming right underneath your boob, or is it sliding down/sitting lower? If it is sliding down, given your issues with the band, you most likely just need a tighter band to hold your cup in the proper place and prevent sliding.
Test this out: Put your band on the tightest hook and make sure your underwire comes directly underneath your boob. You may need to scoot it up a little after you finish scooping and swooping. Then on either side of one boob slide your thumbs from the tip of the wires into the bra down to where the wire meets your ribcage. The next part is tricky to explain. Taking care not to lift the wire higher than right under your boob where it should stay, hold the fabric of the bra and slide it upwards toward the top of the boob. You're basically smoothing out those wrinkles and making sure your boob fills out the bottom of the cup. Do this for both boobs.
Better?
Now! If this fixes the problem, all you need is a smaller back size to hold it in place. But be warned: Doing this will cause the wire to be higher that it was, meaning it may poke into your underarm. Hopefully, that won't be the case.
If not, then.... I'm not sure. But that always works for me without sacrificing my support.
Did that fix your issue?

The sheer part is big though (on second look) so while what I suggested may help you fill the cup better, you may still have nipple showing.

I'd say it is pretty well situated at my boob-crease - and it only has the problem of the folding bottom cup when I loosen the straps.
I'm trying to figure your instructions - do you mean as a way to make the boob settle properly in the bottom of the cup? In that case, I think I've done that. My concern is more about the fact that everything needs to be on extra tight setting for it all to stay that way! :b I don't "mind" the nipple being on show, as in, I realize that's just how Curvy Kate (and many others) make their bras in larger sizes...

Yea, the instructions were meant to have your boob settle properly in the bottom of the cup without the wrinkling (I think I actually read your fit issue wrong as wrinkling on the bottom, not the top). They were only for if the wire wasn't staying in your boob crease, which could have been the cause of the nipple show (and normally is for me, though I've never tried CK).
Since it is sitting where it's supposed to on the tightest setting, I would still say you are right in thinking you need a tighter band and that it's just how the bra is made in terms of the nipple showing.

helpfulBased on how high the wires are at the gore and sides, how far back they go at the side, lack of lift/feeling like it's too big, and where your nips are sitting, I think you are in one cup volume too big.
Remember that excess cup will make the back feel bigger (just like too-small cups will make the back feel smaller). I think a 34J would work but if you still think it would be too loose you could try 32JJ.

Wow, thanks! Makes a lot of sense. I've just returned this one for now, since my dream was the set, and since I didn't fit the bottoms anyway, I'll wait for another good excuse to get one of those :b And then I will follow your advice and go for 32K..
