Bra fitting help » High sides, gaps, space - what size to try?!
Parfait By Affinitas » Charlotte Padded Bra (6901) » 30G 30:9
I got this bra as it was suggested to be more like a 28G as opposed to a 30G... which I thought could be a good place to start in finding a good bra.
The band feels SO comfortable! I can't complain about it at all, and the gore is perfect too!
The cups are too high at the sides and dig into my armpit, but the wire doesn't dig in. When I stand up straight the cups lay flat fine, but I do not fill the bottom of it. However, if I slouch or lean forward or something there are massive gaps in the cups, so it is clearly far too big! But I was also thinking maybe the cups being so high/straps so wide could be contributing to the cup gaps as when my arms go forward they push the cups out...
I originally thought maybe I had narrow, shallow breasts, with I guess a sort of small ribcage so assumed a small band size with a bigger cup size would be the way to go in finding a good bra. But now I'm thinking maybe I should stick to the small band size, but get a small cup size too, but find a wide underwire so it can stretch round my boobs, and in fact I have small wide breasts not small but slightly bigger narrow breasts.
I'm so confused! I love this bra, and would love to know if I could get it in another size. Or if anyone has any bra recomendations. Throw all possible thoughts at me please, I need help!
Ignore the measurements, I've just remeasured as I think I did it wrong before!
Use these for reference -Ribcage tight - 70cm
Ribcage loose - 73cm
Bust standing - 89cm
Bust leaning - 93cm
Bust with arms up - 91cm
Left breast standing - 28cm
Left breast leaning - 29cm
Right breast standing - 27cm
Right breast leaning - 28cm
Above breasts - 77cm (hard to get this measurement as I think my breast tissue goes quite high)I think I need about a 29cm underwire if I include where some migrated tissue is near my armpit, and maybe a 18cm cup... but I am not sure at all!
P.s. I was measured at M&S and they said 34D... I measured myself and my ribcage is 28/30... so just to make sure I went to Debenhams and they also said 34D/32D/34DD/32DD (she clearly didn't know what she was doing and only measured my rib cage. She didn't seem to know why the bras weren't fitting - when I put all of the bras on in 32/34's I went immediately to the tightest hook and they all could pull away from my back like more than 6 inches!)
I'm so confused! - I also have scoliosis hence my wonky back!

helpfulYour measurements are pretty close to mine! Except my breast perimeter is bigger than yours. Most of my bras are a 30F though, not G! Here's a little picture that compares wire widths, made by user amalas on reddit. http://i.imgur.com/2UVzC.png it might be useful for you!
you should definitely size down in the cups. if the band is comfortable you can probably just leave it as is. did you know if you look at the advanced search you can search for bras based on measurements? you can try that out if it interests you, but it might be kinda overwhelming at first.
as far as bra suggestions go, i've really only had success thus far with cleo bras, but maybe you'll find the cups a touch narrow if you're right about needing a 6" cup width. according to the measurements the freya patsy padded half cup has about a 6" cup and a wire length of ~25.5 cm, though the gore is quite a bit shorter than this current bra. but maybe that would work? good luck!

helpfulHello there! We have all been there (or still are ) so confusion is part of the process
I can't really tell anything about your root width because the bra covers so much of your chest, but here are some links that you can check and see if they apply to you. There is a nice list of bras that work in the comments toohttp://www.venusianglow.com/2013/03/examples-of-shallow-breasts-nsfw.html?m=1

helpfulThank you both! Due to the shape of my breasts I've been thinking that maybe the balcony version would suit me better! What do you think? Also do you suggest 30F or 30FF?
I'm not very sure of my root width myself... I'm not sure if this helps, but my breast tissue starts right under my armpit and is sort of diagonal onto the front of my chest, and it goes to just under my collar bones... I think as it isn't low of the sides, it is quite narrow!

helpfulIf you like the bra and it is a good fitted now, you should keep it. If leaning down and gaping isn't an inconvenience for you then there's nothing wrong with it.
If you move down a cup size it might be too small for you and it will actually be worse. Always keep a little room in the cups since breast size fluctuates a lot. Shouldn't mind if the bra cups are a little too big, but it is always a problem if the cups are a bit too small.
What you can try is scooping from the back of your armpits all the way to the front of the cups, this bra design does a good job in keeping breast tissue in place because of the high sides, so you might want to fill the cups that way. You won't see instant results, so try doing this everyday and every chance you get, eventually you will see your breast looking a bit fuller than before.
Thanks

Vee do you suggest a 30FF or 30F in this bra? Also, do you think the balcony version may be better? If so, what size do you suggest in that?
Thanks ever so much for your help!
