Bra fitting help » Looks like the bra is dragging down my boobs

Issue resolved
Not the right style for shallow breasts. Will experiment with 28 bands.
Original problem
Hi all the kind souls of Bratabase.
This is the first bra I bought after being properly fitted. However, like most of my other bras, it appears to drag my boobs down instead of lifting them up, giving my boobs an elongated appearance. I tried to wear it higher but breast tissue would escape from underneath the cup. Not sure if it is a size or shape problem. I also have a long torso.
I can comfortably put two fingers under the band but I haven't gotten used to the tightness. A little of quadraboob on the right side but not sure if going up a cup size is the way to go. The straps can dig into the skin where they join the cups in the front. It can get painful if I move my arms a lot because the strap will rub against the flesh. I tried loosening the straps but it wasn't helpful, it is as if they are sitting right on top of my breast tissue.
Thanks all. If only perfect bras are easy to find!

helpfulMy first thought is to ask if you have the band directly under your breast tissue? That might make your breasts seem higher on your chest. Do your breasts take on that shape without the bra? I'm not familiar with this brand, but maybe it's a minimizing sort? The gore is lying flat, the band looks parallel and without the quadraboob, the cups look like they fit. I would say try to lift the band higher on your chest if the wires allow it, and if not try a different brand such as Freya or Curvy Kate.

You need to pull the bra up higher. If the wires are then too narrow, you need another bra with wider wires.
What you are experiencing is an orange-in-a-glass, the wires are too narrow for your breasts so they cannot get properly into the bra.
Bras should not cut off the top of the breasts if you have the right cut. Your breasts are a textbook examples of a shallow shape, you need halfcups and bras that are very open in the top.

helpfulI almost feel like you should go up a cupsize into a shallow bra - maybe one of the Curvy Kate Showgirl line. It seems like you definitely have shallow breasts and I think that's a lot of the problem. If you've never read this blog post http://www.venusianglow.com/2012/09/small-breasts-with-broad-base.html doing so might give you some insight into bras worth trying.

Hi thanks for the link, I find that very informative. I am wondering if you have any more information on shallow breasts because a quick google search gives me information on shallow profile breasts which I thought might be different.
The weird thing about my breasts is I can fit into smaller cups without looking I am overflowing, I look almost the same in a 34A!

Yeah, I'm not sure whether "shallow profile breasts" are the same at all.
I personally don't have that much more to recommend as I don't have the same shape, but am just familiar with it. I highly suggest heading over to http://www.reddit.com/r/abrathatfits , making an account if you don't have one, and posting a request for info and recommendations there, since I'm sure one of the many helpful women their has a similar size and can give you much better recommendations than I can.A 34A is the same volume as a 30C, so that might indicate that you could go down a cupsize or two, except I feel like you do have some breast tissue near the armpits that isn't being contained even in this bra. Your best bet might be experimenting with different sizes, but I really recommend asking for advice on reddit as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, I experimented with the same bra with a bigger cup and a couple of other styles. 30F feels slightly better but balconette bras are hands down the winner.
Thank you for suggesting reddit, there are lots of lovely ladies there. I really appreciate all of you who spent time helping out newbies. :D

helpfulThe feeling of being dragged down is caused by a cup that is too closed at the rim.
You need cups that are way more open. With your shape I would recommend the Fauve Isobel Padded Plunge.
Look on ebay.co.uk.

Oh wow, you are spot on. I tried on a bra that is more open on top and it felt better. One thing I have learned about fitting my shallow breasts, is to look at the slope of the breasts. I don't get overspill in smaller cups but my breasts will not form a natural looking slope. It is a little hard to tell if the wire is too wide or too narrow though, I can't even tell where my breasts end. :|

Try feeling for breast tissue just before your period.

Yes I do have the band directly under my breast tissue. I can't pull the band higher because the wires would then be too narrow for my breasts.
Yes my breasts look almost the same with or without a bra, except that bras cut off the top of the breasts and give armpit boobs.
I suppose I will try a different brand. :D Thanks!
