Bra fitting help » bra strap digging into shoulder, uncomfortable band
Elle Macpherson Intimates » Sheer Ribbons Contour Underwire (E72-328) » 32DD 32:5
Issue resolved
I changed to 8DD, and it was much more comfortable and the band wasn't riding up anymore,
Thank you.
Original problem
Hello,
I went to two different bra shops, they all say 10DD fits me well, and said this is a perfect fit for me.
But I get sore shoulders with wearing this bra. The straps are digging into my shoulders, but if I don't tighten it, it drops off my shoulder a lot through the day.
The other thing is, I don't feel like it's really supporting my boobs. I feel like I'm still relying on the strap to pull the bra up.
Not sure if I'm just expecting too much. Both shops' assistants say the 10DD bras fit me fine...

helpfulThis band is way too large for you. It stretches 12 cm more than your ribcage measures, which means that there is no tension there to keep the bra firmly in place. You can see in your pictures that the band is riding up in the back, that is the easiest to spot sign of that the band is too big.
Most likely you need to size down to a 30 or 28-band, which is the standard band size for someone with your measurements.
The cups doesn't look too bad from here. However with a tighter band the cups will be slightly stretched so they will be wider and shallower. Because of that you might need to size up a extra cup size.
32DD has the same volume in the cup as a 30E and a 28F, a cup size up would mean 30F and 28FF. In bands that are tighter you might want to try 30E or 30F, in slightly looser bands a 28F or 28FF.
With a tighter band the band will stay in place and stop rubbing and be much more comfortable. As the weight of your booobs then will be taken care of by the band the straps will most likely not bother you anymore either. At the moment your shoulders carry your breasts as the band just isn't supportive, when it should be the other way around.
And this is sad but true, never trust someone who is trying to sell you something to fit you. Yes, you can listen and take mental notes and reflect over it, but try to make sure you check the bra yourself. In many places around the world they only stock a very very small selection of sizes, much smaller than what most people wear, and still try to sell them, even if they don't fit. Sometimes they don't even know how to fit a bra.

helpfulthis bra band is miles too big! I think you would be much better with a 28 band - that is what your ribcage measures after all
Also, i don't think that the cup fits your breast properly. I think that your breasts are most likely being flattened at the bottom of the cup, instead of having been scoped into the cup. If you were to scoop, i think you might well get quad-boob.
Read this blog post: http://brasandbodyimage.wordpress.com/2012/09/05/putting-your-bra-on-properly/
i think that this bra on you is too low for the root of your breast, and therefore it seems like it fits, when it really doesn't.
i would guess a 28FF would be better for you, but you could try this calculator to help:

helpfulhi.... you got a nice bra but there is some bra wearing issue that causing prob for you.... I believe your band is ridding up from back and that is why all the weight and pressure is coming on shoulder straps....
please adjust your shoulder straps and your band on back should be alight to your bra bottom line...
then all the load will shift to band instead of shoulder and you will feel ok.Updated on January 30, 2013 Flag this
