Bra fitting help » Too small, too narrow or both ?
Masquerade » Antoinette Bandeau Bra (4381) » 28DD 28:5
Issue resolved
This bra will never fit me as the underwires are too narrow and the cup seperation is too wide
Original problem
I bought this bra not long ago thinking masquerade was a nicely fitting brand besides the apparently always too long straps. I feel like I have an orange in a glass because there is empty space at the bottom of the cup and the center gore doesn't lay flat. The straps are also too long. The underwires sit on my breast tissue at the side and at the front maybe indicating too small cups ?
I am not sure anymore ever since TallSkinnyCurvy mentioned in my previous fitting request that I may need wider wires. So what do you think ? Do I need to go up in the cups ? Do I need a bra with wider wires ? Or do I need both ?
Thank you for the help !

helpfulI also think you need wider wires, because they should not sit on breast tissue. Probably going up a cup size in this bra would give you wide enough wires for them not to sit on breast tissue at the sides, but the centre gore seems to be very wide here, so I'd recommend a different bra, really. This one also looks as if it would be difficult to alter the centre gore.
I have put lots of bras that are suitable for wide root shallow breasts in my profile, and I've measured all of them, so you could have a look at cup separation in the different styles.Updated on May 2, 2013 Flag this

helpfulThe gore could lay flatter so I'm thinking both. The Antoinette I always thought worked well on a shallow shape because of it's shallow cups and wider wires. Masquerade is way shallower in smaller sizes.

helpfulOk, not that I'm a bra fitting expert or anything but...
This one has an even narrower cup than the other one you had a fitting request for. This fit is just really really odd.
The panache confetti strapless has wide enough cups, but has too much cup; I just checked the 28D of the panache you have but don't wear in a 28D and there's little difference between the cup widths but the D is shallower of course... wire pressing into your ribs can mean either too small band or too big cup (breast tissue pulls the wires forward a bit) so that gives you some direction.
I check such measurements before ordering a new bra here on bratabase. Oddly a 30 band often has wider cups than a sister size 28 band, it seems.Updated on May 2, 2013 Flag this
The center will be impossible to alter as the fabric is very thick so I probably should let go of this bra and look for wider wires. I'll look at the bras in your profile thank you !
