Bra fitting help » Cleo Marcie – is this band riding up?
Cleo » Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831) » 36E 36:6
Hello,
I'd like to know your opinions, I'm glad I've got this oportunity. Thank you and thank Bratabase!
There's my issue:
I just love Marcie, I love the shape it gives, it's amazing. I really want to have some unpadded bras, because I'm traveling a lot and it's easier to carry it.
But I need rounded shape, because I don't feel comfortable in "torpedo" bras.
I don't understand it – I've got Marcie in 34F, but the band is little bit too tight and the bra is not comfortable, so I bought 36E and I dreamed about better fit.
The band is riding up. The measurements are good, it should fit. I've got problems with short straps (see picture). Could it cause problem with band riding up?
Or is this problem just in my head and it doesn't riding up? I've got back rolls and it's more visible with looser bands – now it shows a lot.
Also I've got problem with center gore, it's not flat (or narrow), but it's not main issue and it's possible to fix.
Do you know some other unpadded bras that give shape like Marcie?
Again – thank you for your time and sorry for my English

helpfulWelcome to I hate Cleo bands club!
You'd probably be better of with keeping the 34 band and using the extender for two weeks, but it is what it is.
This is exactly how cleos look on me too and I have been weaping my head around it for some time.
The band actually looks like it's riding up only in the middle of the back. This is the place where band actually doesn't tack your back that good - it grasps the back on the sides quite well but the shape of your back (and mine for that matter) is indented where the spine is, so band can look like it's riding up but actually isn't. This happens to me with most bras but when the band has more hooks it's not so bad
So this is my theory for me, the only way to see if it's true is to wear a bra for a day and see if it rides up on the sides of the back too.Updated on May 5, 2013 Flag this

Yes I know, but her back is way flater then yours or mine. :)
In what way is 34f uncomfortable with an extender? -
Hmmm, I don't know ... it does indeed look as if it's riding up, but I'm wondering whether it also has something to do with the shape of the band or the way you've put the bra on? Looking at the side view it seems to me as if the band dips down below the underbust before it curves up towards the back?
Just for the sake of information: band sizes change with 5cm/2" increments -- the 'gap' left between the tightest setting in one size and the loosest setting one size down is about 2.5cm/1" -- but our bodies obviously don't. I personally think it's a little bit nonsensical to expect that everybody should be able to find a perfect fit at the loosest set of hooks.

I agree with Vee. I have a very conical/v-shaped back and all bands will ride up to me in the middle because of my shape.
And I also agree with MilkAndHoney - I recently bought a Cleo Juna that fits me best on the second hook. The first fits but isn't tight enough to hold my breast tissue in the cups. The third is horribly tight. I could never size down in it.

helpfulIt looks like you are wearing a smaller size bra. Your straps are digging in the shoulders and that's why your band is little pulled up. Go up a size or couple and see it you are comfortable in that.

I've got a long, long torso and I'm tall too (178 cm), so I've got always problems with straps. I can't buy bras with semi-adjustable straps, because it's too short on me. Do you think that in bigger cup size the straps will be longer?
-
You have the opposite strap problem of me! :) Nice to see some variety, there's not a lot of complaints about straps being too short here on Bratabase and although I wish you didn't have the issue (because I can imagine it's uncomfortable), I'm glad you put it up on fit request because seeing the visuals may help some other really tall chicks out :)
Umm... Is this a problem you bump into a lot (when the straps are fully adjustable) or is it just this particular bra? If you often encounter it, would you consider buying straps in the length you need and then some (to allow for tightening it up when they're beginning to slack a bit), and just sew the new ones on?

helpfulIt's riding up a little bit, probably because they band is too big. I think you should go back to the 34. When the band is too big, it rides up, you lose support, you tighten the straps to make up for it, which makes the band ride up, so you lose support.... With a leotard back bra the bottom of the band should be straight across with the top part dipping down. A lot of times if the bra doesn't tack right then they kind of meet in the middle. It should be sitting an inch or two lower in the back, I think if you try the 34 again and anchor it there it shouldn't ride up.

You kinda missed the fact that the straps are way too short for her.

helpfulI don't know. As some others have pointed out, some Cleo bands always look like this, even if they're the right size. Maybe you've already written this and I missed it, but I have to ask: Does the band stay in place when you move around wildly, dance, throw your arms up ...? If it does, I'd say it fits, if not, it doesn't, no matter what it looks like.
(I've got this problem with too short Cleo straps too, btw. I just put them on the longest possible setting and usually they stretch a bit after a while and become comfortable then.)Updated on May 9, 2013 Flag this

helpfulYour straps look like they're too tight, this could cause your band to ride up a little. Try loosening the straps.

I've tried to shorten the straps and band is definitely riding up. It's better on the tightest hook.
I've been wearing Marcie in 34F for couple times (with extender, without extender) and it's uncomfortable. I just can't determine why. So I think the bigger band could help. And this bra is more comfortable, wearable, but I feel, that the band is not where it should be. Look on the Windie's Marcie: http://windiegardie.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/marcie4.jpg
