Issue resolved
giving up on wearing bras as my bosy is too freakish for any to fit thanks
Original problem
HI all,
As some of you know I am having a bit of trouble with my bras and knowing what fits or not. This bra is very comfortable on me, but I do get a bit of bulge under the band as you can see in the pictures. If I go a size up the band is too large. Can I have some thoughts on the overall fit, particularly the band? I dont get bulge in the next size up but the band is too big.

helpfulThe band is too big. The riding up in the back is due to a too large band. I won't suggest a cup size, as I'm unsure if you're swooping and scooping. But if you feel the band is too tight even though it's obviously too large, then I think you may not be pulling all the breast tissue into the cup.
Would you be able to swoop and scoop your breast tissue in as much as you can and then add pictures of that? I would be able to help a lot more with those added.

helpfulThe band is still listed as being longer unstretched than your body! What happens if you put the bra on the tightest hooks? in the pulling the bra out picture, you can see how you would be able to get your whole hand under the band without any problem at all.
Have a look at this blog entry:
http://brasandbodyimage.wordpress.com/2012/09/05/putting-your-bra-on-properly/
I am not certain how much of this will apply, especially if you have soft cups, but i do think that you probably aren't adjusting your breast into the bra, therefore the perception of how it fits is not being fairly tested!
Honestly, i think the fat is just naturally what you have, but if you had a tighter band, it would sit lower on your body, therefore 'hiding' the fat.

I didnt get a chance to re-measure as I am moving. I had one fit person tell me that this bra is pushing down on my chest, and I am adjusted into it. I have very wideset boobs and no cleavage, and I am not sure how a bra is even supposed to look on me. My modern movement bra was fitted to me by a professional and I am told even that doesnt fit me right. I can re-adjust myself and measure again, and take more pics if that might help?

bra band is re-measured,and another pic with me scooping and swooping will be included.

HI,
I scooped and swooped and I think it did make a difference in the band riding up and the bulge. When I fasten this on the tightest hooks its way too tight. I re-measured too so your thoughts are welcome

helpfulAre the straps too short on you? It seems the band is riding up at the back, I am not quite sure if it does that just by itself or if it is pulled up by the short straps.
This leads to the problem that the band rides up and the bulge starts. If you look at the pictures, you will see that there is less bulge where the band keeps parallel to the ground.
(also, still not a very nice fit, as the cups have too much space at the outer side and don't collect you breast tissue, the wires are too small for you)Updated on February 20, 2013 Flag this

I have the straps adjusted higher on this than i do in my other bras, maybe loosening them would help? Would the wires being too small be a band size issue or a cup size?
-
You are already having them on the loosest, as far as i can see.
Neither of them, it is a style issue. This bra has narrow wires, it is just not the right thing for you if you need wide ones. Cup and bandsize are only a bit of what makes a fitting bra. -
Hi,
This bra is wirefree...I am at a loss as to what styles would work for me.
-
How about Pour Moi Essence (you can get that one on Ebay) or the Lepel Fiore Plunge, those are for shallow breasts and have wide wires :)
-
thats a great idea, i also heard freya might work for me? I will say that the two fit requests you have helped me with, were bras not fitted by a professional, and I have heard that VS and Maidenform both run small in the cups. would you be able to check out my fit request on the modern movement bra? That one was fitted to me, and feels much better than the other two, but I have my doubts about that size too. You have been SO helpful, more than any fitter I ever had!
-
Freya has rather narrow wires, i am not sure that will work. Only the halfcups might be a good try.
VS does not really care about good fitting, and often makes ill fitting bras, I would stay away from them. About maiden reform i don't know.
I have found your other request and answered to it :) No problem, I am happy to help! -
HI hagane,
I also had not really adjusted myself in this bra, so I did that and took two more picture, which are the first two on here. I think it did help the fit a little, and in the second pic you can see how far the cup goes under my underarm. To me the cups still seem a little small, would welcome your thoughts! Maybe in this one I could actually go down a band size and up a cup or two?
-
If you go down a bandsize, the straps will be shorter too. I dont think it will work for you anymore then. Also the cups seem to fit at the front, but not on the sides. If you go up a cupsize for the wires at the side, it will have more projection too, and that could be a problem in that style.
As this bra is wirefree, it is not really a problem. The cupsize somehow fits, but the band might ride up and the straps are too short. But as you write that the band only stretches 2" more than your tight body measurement, it is no wonder that it feels tight on the other side.
I for myself found out that the most comfortable band is: unstretched 2" smaller than my tight measured ribcage, and stretched 2" bigger than my loose measured ribcage -
Hi hagane,
You are 100% right. This band is not as stretchy as the other bra I had help on, or some of the others in my drawer. Its about 1/2 inch smaller which might be a big reason why its too tight on one side. I think you are also right that maybe its not so much the size, as the style of this bra.
One thing I think is going on is that all the bras I had up for help on here are full cup styles. My breasts are very wide-set and fairly shallow, and full cups on me tend to fit in front, but are roomy on the sides.
There was one fitter that suggested I try demi or balconette cup bras, but the ones they had in my size either gaped on top (possibly because they were close together in the cups), or the bands ran small and looked utterly stupid on me.
I have heard that people with wider set breasts might have trouble with bra cups enclosing the whole breast, and I obviously have that issue. I did get some recommendations for wider set breast bras, would it be worth giving those a shot? Would a demi cup be a possible option?
-
yeah half/demi cup bras are always a good try! Full cup fits horribly on smaller sizes like us

HI,
I just added two more pics after scooping and swooping. They are the first two pics. Your thoughts are welcome, I think it did help me to scoop and swoop.
