Bra fitting help » Panache Jasmine 30J - Alterations possible?

Issue resolved
I will send this one back and try one cup size down.
Original problem
The most obvious issue is of course the too big band. I thought I could just alter the band but I have some other issues with it. I'm unsure whether to keep it and try to alter the fit, try a different size (30J is not my usual starting size) or give up on this bra altogether.
1. The wires are too wide. This is something I experience all the time with Panache bras, even if they fit everywhere else. This usually doesn't bother me too much, but the fabric between the straps and the wire ends is digging into my armpits. After taking the pictures of it, I took the bra off and found that I already had a deep red mark across my armpits. Not to mention it isn't exactly comfortable. I found this alteration on how to move the straps but would it be feasible?

You can also see wrinkles on the sides of the bra.
2. The center gore doesn't lie completely flat. The right wire seems to be sitting on my breast. So far, I haven't found this uncomfortable, though.
Do you think this could be fixed by bending the gore inwards? I tried scooping my tissue away from the gore a little but that didn't change anything. Please help me.
I really like the looks of this bra and I would be willing to perform some alterations on it.
I certainly wouldn't do this for every bra but I'm a little desperate.
I do want to keep this bra!
My recent tries with Freya and Bravissimo were rather disastrous. With Freya, I had some similar issues as with this bra, only a LOT worse! There was no solution except sending them back. Bravissimo 28Js mostly came up too small for me and they don't really have many choices for 28J+ sizes. I have an Ewa Michalak bra on its way but having non-refundable bras made on estimates and crossing my fingers really isn't an option for me.Thank you, everyone.

helpfulHi there As I own Jasmine in both 30j and 30jj, I must say that this bra is worth the fight.
Before you take out your scisors, I do think you need a cupsize smaller in this. It's a very forgiving bra and I believe a smaller size would fit you mich better, with a more rounded shape and narrower wires that come a cm shorter, as well as the gore. This would also make a strap position more bearable.
Jasmine needs some breaking in time and yes, wire bending with excessive force -they are very rigid. I did have to bend the gore inward on both my Jasmines. If you are still determined to keep this one and alter the straps - it can be done, but not as easily as one could do it on a padded halfcup.
You can cut off the straps at the back and bring them more to the center ofthe band, make it more racerbacky. This would free some space in the armpit area without messing the bra too much.Cuting at the front is bound to be messy. I highly reccomend taking it to a professional seamstress. If you are determined to do it yourself, then yes, follow Nesoas guide and ask her directly for some extra guidelines.

You can actually tighten the straps the whole way if you fiddle arround with thrm a bit, the plastic slider will slide even on the padded part if you pull the strap out in the middle of the slider. But you do need sizing down imho :)
-
Oh, the sliders are on the padded part and adjusted to a comfortable tightness.
I don't even consider ordering bras without fully adjustable straps.
You can see in my last back picture where the padded part starts and that the slider sits on my shoulders.

helpfulThat looks like one uncomfortable as f*ck bra on you! Sorry for the cussing but OH MY GOD. The bra is swallowing you! I'm not only here to point out the obvious though. I myself have this problem a lot of times(too wide wires and too much fabric near the armpit).
The problem is... Even if you would move the straps closer to your neck, and even if you would cut that excess fabric off in the armpit, the problem would still be there, although lessened, I guess. You see, the wires are very much too wide for you. I'm sorry, I don't think there's any hope without major alterations. Your best shot would be to rip out the wires, get new ones in a suitable width and in some kinda way stitch it back together. However, if you decide to do this the proportions of the cup may change along the way. It's not that simple. It won't be hazzle-free, I guarantee you that. But if you're soooooo willing to keep this bra that would be my advice. I do not recommend this in any way because it may be very difficult. The best thing is to find a bra with wires in a suitable width to start with. If the wires are good and the straps are too far out and your armpit gets chafed THEN it's a good idea to do these alterations(move the strap closer to the neck and cut off excess material near the armpit) but I'd say it's a heck of a lot more difficult when the wires are too wide.

And oh, I didn't mean just to stitch it all together, there would be excess material of course. You'd have to cut it off and then try to sew it back together. I do not recommend it though.

Well, finding a bra that actually fits is what I'm trying to do here, duh.
I am well aware that the wires are too wide, but finding bands 28 and lower with cups J and bigger is for some reason not exactly easy. -
Also, the only point where its uncomfortable is the armpits.
-
Have you tried Ewa Michalak? As far as I know she's the one who's making bras with the narrowest wires.
-
As I wrote above, I ordered one and it is on the way to me.
But with shipping and extra paypal fees, it wasn't exactly cheap. This is my first time trying EM, so I don't know how it will fit me.
Since every of my possible sizes has to be custom made and is thus non-returnable, for me that is a costly experiment. I can't just order a bunch of sizes and see which one fits me best. And having to guess my size from reviews and Bratabase is a little too risky for me to do every time I need a new bra. -
I see. Well... If you don't find too wide wires uncomfortable, just the excess material at the armpit and the straps being too wide-set, then I see no problem if you just alter that and keep the wide wires. I really do hope though that the Ewa Michalak bra you ordered will work just fine because I'm sure there's no better feeling than having that one bra that fits you perfectly. I wouldn't know(I haven't found a perfect fit yet) but that's what I asume.

Sometimes I wonder if a perfect bra actually exists...
I don't find wide wires uncomfortable (as long as they don't poke) but I only have one bra with narrow wires, so maybe I'm used to it?

helpfulDoing the alteration to give you a bigger armhole and the straps closer together will easily fix the red marks at your armholes. I've done it myself with my Jasmine. It will also allow you to shorten the straps more to get rid of the wrinkles on the side.
However, when you do this, plus shorten the band the wires will go even wider. At the moment your arms pull the wires forward, and you don't have enough tension in your arms.
I definitly think you can alter this bra to make it wearable but you will end up with wires that is even more too wide than now. Is that what you want? Will you wear it then?

helpfulI own the Jasmine in 32HH, in last year's colorway and it's one of my favorite bras because of the shape it gives.
I'm still learning about all this bra fitting stuff myself, so I don't think I can give great advice, but I did want to let you know that I found the wires in the gore settle nicely on top off one another to become very narrow, which is a great feeling, because my boobs are very close together.

I think I will send this one back and wait until Figleaves has its next 20% off to try the 30HH.
Hopefully, this will resolve at least parts of my issues. I can reassess the fit from there.
The straps are so long, I could probably switch their position on the band (X shape) and would still be fine. At least in my head, that looks pretty good on me. :)
