Issue resolved
I may try going up a cup size in this bra--the fit is a bit challenging, but ultimately it was difficult to tell if it was cup shape or size.
Original problem
I have tried the Curvy Kate Emily in 28F and 28FF. I heard that the cups run a bit big, but didn't find this to be the case with the 28FF, which didn't seem to be a full cup size up from the 28F, somehow.
I am wondering if my issue is that the cups are too small, or that my breast shape is incompatible with the style. There is definitely quad-boobing going on, but I felt like my boobs weren't settling well into the wide shape of the cups despite being somewhat wide-set and squishy.
Would love any suggestions for this bra. I'm not sure if I should just give up on the style (I feel like the underwires might already be almost too wide, and in a larger cup size would only be wider), or if sizing up in the cup might be a good idea.

helpfulI think this one fits you well though I can see the quad boob. I am a 28 E/F and I find that similar styles like this cuts me off. I would see what the next cup size up fits like but then it may result in wrinkling of the cups (which isn't attractive). It looks beautiful on you though!

helpfulIt looks as though you haven't swooped and scooped properly, and if you have, it looks like it has slipped out again. Have you seen this post? http://www.venusianglow.com/2008/04/how-to-put-on-bra-correctly-and-why-it.html
Read through the whole post and watch the video. Make sure your straps are tight enough to prevent the breast tissue from slipping out! It'd be great if you could take some new shots and show us what it looks like after you've done this! It'd be easier to judge the fit if you showed some shots where you've properly swooped and scooped.

I actually am familiar with the technique and video and did some pretty aggressive swoop and scooping for this picture as well as trying to keep it tucked right up under the breast tissue, and cinched the straps up as snugly as they could reasonably go (experienced the strap issue with the Princess) so sadly I don't think that will end up helping much in that it's already been done...I really appreciate the suggestion though, it's always good to double check that! :)

helpfulHow much space do you have at the sides? Are your boobs trying to escape out of the cups?
If there is a lot of empty space at the sides of the cup, it might be a shape issue. This is what happens to me in CK unpadded bras, I have to go up 2-3 cup sizes to accomodate my boobs in the front, but then half of the cup only covers my back. From the pictures and your description, I doubt that this is the case, though. If it's not too much of a hassle for you, I think you should just try a 28G.
Also, random note, your lighting is awesome and especially your back photo looks like a catalogue picture(=professional).

The space is sort of on the sides, but honestly more on the upper sides. It feels like my boobs are sort of falling into the middle, where the quad-boobing is happening, leaving a bit of space up at the top of the cup of my smaller boob.
I think I concur with you that it's a space issue, and I realized that I experience it a bit with my better fitting, but still not perfect fit Princess. If I have the opportunity, I'll give a 28G a try, because who knows, maybe it'll be amazing!
And thank you so much RE: the photos, natural light FTW! :)

helpfulThe cups are definitely a size too small, you've got some quad-boob going on. The band looks okay, so maybe just go up a cup size and see how it fits then. If the wires are almost too wide it might not be helpful though. It's a pretty bra but it might not be for your shape.

I may end up giving it a try in a 28G-- seems like that would be the best way to ultimately solve the issue of whether it's the fit, or the cup size. It may also be an issue of the color-- the Lavender 28F Emily that I tried seems like it had about the same cup volume as this navy 28FF. I feel like there are certain parts of the cup that I'm just not filling because of the width, but may be worth going up the cup size.
Thanks for your help! :)

I may consider a size up, but I do think it would result in wrinkling in the tops of the cups... hard to say without trying though, haha! :) In one of my side photos (http://media.bratabase.com/cache/42/8d/428d06bfffb570cca1739e2f24a7b1d0.jpg) you can see how, on my smaller breast, there is some gaping at the top and no real quad-boobing along the top, but rather it's sort of on the side. I think this would get substantially worse a cup size up. I'll probably wait until I find a 28G available up on Bratabase before I try it again, I don't think it's worth it to buy it new. Thanks for your input! :)
