Issue resolved
Probably need a different style as a smaller cup with most definitely be too narrow.
Original problem
So frustrated. 8 new bras, only 1 fits. I'm obviously doing this wrong, so how do I figure out what bras are going to fit?
I love this bra, I would love it more if it fit.
It seems like I fit it everywhere except the cup depth.
The only bra that currently fits is a Rubypink Katie that has almost the exact same measurements as this bra... and yet this bra is HUGE in the cups. I used the comparison tool here, and I thought it would be a great fit. (unless of course you guys think that one doesn't fit properly either)
Here is a link to the comparison: http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dhijr/
If you scroll down to the measurements, they are pretty darn close. In fact, the Rubypink is bigger in the cup measurements by 0.2" except the depth where it's smaller by 0.2"
I didn't include any back photos because I am wearing the bra with an extender.
Should add that I most definitely have swooped and scooped.

helpfulHi
I think this is the solution; The Lacie has more depth near the gore and also goes higher up on the sides. Cup depth really doesn't mean that much. (I've tried 100 bras and I never got why I would differ 3-4 cup sizes between styles. I've finally come to the conclusion that I'm center heavy with no separation between my boobs and so they will need depth in the middle.)
If you look at the Rubypink bra it's much more shallow.
Cup depth only measure largest distance in cups between wire an wire. It really doesn't say anything about shape or how big the bra actually is.
If the bra is shallow everywhere but in its deepest part the whole bra will be much smaller. If the bra has the same depth all over it will be far bigger.
Don't be sad, you found out about this 90% faster than I did since I just told you how I did the same mistake. But I've tried 100 bras. Now I suddenly got use of that experience Freya bras are in general quite big, especially if you have rather empty boobs. I do too
Panache Andorra probably would be very well on you

I have no idea how to pick a size now if I can't base the general fit on the measurements and style.

Since your boobs are "rather" empty they might work like mine and be Barbapappa all over. Or they might be more of one shape rather than completely convertible.
Anyhow; Freya balconettes like the one you're trying here will be too deep in this size. And bras like Panache Andorra and Bravissimo halfcups probably will fit both in this size And maybe one size up. Freya and Cleo unpadded bras for example are deeper and often has more volume near the gore. In those you would probably need to size down two cup sizes but then the wires might become too narrow.

helpfulYou are right in the fact that the measurements are insanely close. My guess would be the material? I really don't know what else could cause this huge difference.

helpfulWhat are the other ones you tried that didn't work?
The shape of your Rubypink Katie is more similar to the Cleo Lucy or other balconettes than a plunge. If you're looking for Freya, maybe the Freya Gem Balcony plunge bra.

So far.. Cleo Jude 30G (too small/wrong shape), Cleo Lucy 30G (too big), Fantasie Smoothing T Shirt 30G (too big) Claudette Dessous Mesh 30FF (too small). Parfait Affinitas Isabella Balconette. 30G (too big/wrong shape)

helpfulStick with that one bra and try different sizes. No point in trying different sizes with different styles or brands.
The cups are too big, which you can already tell, but not as big as you think. A lot of migrated tissue around the underarms in the front and I suspect at the back as well. This will eventually go back to the cups if done right.
You have mentioned that the band size is too tight, yes, one way to tell from the pictures is if the gore is indenting your body.
Hope that helps.

There is only .2" of a difference in the gore and wing height, and it's the Rubypink with the larger measurements there.
