Bra fitting help » Not even sure how to pick a starting bra size?

Issue resolved
I'm planning to try a few bras more in the 30C range and see if those fit my anatomy better.
Original problem
Excuse the cheap bra - I'm still in the process of unpacking from moving.
I've always worn a 34A, but as I read about proper measuring techniques and actually look at the fit on my bras, I'm realizing they don't fit me very well. This bra is a 32A and isn't comfortable at all. It's hard to see in the photos, but when I pull all of the breast tissue into the bra, I do get a quad boob (as much as my small boobs can get, haha). However, the tissue ends up back outside the cup after 5 minutes. The band rides up and I believe may be too big - I measure 29 around my ribs, so should I be aiming for a 30 band size? What should I be doing with the cup size? I am relatively clueless about all of this.
Thanks!

helpfulAnd that style just doesn't look right for you :/ The wins are definitely too low and your boobs are escaping out the sides. My guess is, you probably have some major escaping breast tissue. So go a band size or two down and a few cup sizes up, and you might want to try a balconette style- heir wings are usually taller so 30C-D or even 28D might be a good starting spot After looking on the listings page, try maybe one of these- http://www.bratabase.com/listings/dhthv/, http://www.bratabase.com/listings/dhxmp/, http://www.bratabase.com/listings/dhmtp/, or maybe even a 28D like http://www.bratabase.com/listings/dhp7l/, http://www.bratabase.com/listings/dhq33/, http://www.bratabase.com/listings/dhv4g/, http://www.bratabase.com/listings/dhvzp/
(Sorry if it's against protocol to link listings here; they're not mine and if anyone wants me to edit them out, just let me know and I will. Still new to fitting advice on here !)

Just what I thought would fit :)

Oh wow Libby, those match my measurements almost exactly. I guess 30C isn't THAT crazy of a bra size... weird. Definitely gotta try some on to blow my mind, haha.
-
I promise you it isnt. A 30C has the same cup volume as a 32B or 34A. And a 34B has the same cup volume as a 28DD. So cup sizes are all relative to the band size they are on. Like a 36D is much bigger than a 28D

helpfulA good starting place is to find out all your measurements. So you say you're 29 around - is this right, break the ribs right, or regular? Also, you need to measure around your breasts to find the difference do you have a starting cup size. My guess is that you might be around a 30C? but without numbers I don't really know.
Here's a good resource: http://bustyresources.wikia.com/wiki/How-to_determine_bra_size gotten off the website reddit (from the ABraThatFits subreddit). It summarizes a great way to measure and get to that starting point.
Once you get a starting point you just gotta get to a store and try, try, try until you are worn out paying attention to brands that fit, sizes that fit, styles, ect. Hopefully then you can find something that fits awesomely amazing!

I've done that way of measuring before, and I had either a 3 or 4 inch difference between the two measurements. And maybe this is just mainstream media clouding my view, but how on earth am I a C??
-
I totally understand!! I didn't believe I was a bigger than a D cup but here I am! :) a 3-4 in difference places you are a C or D cup.
check out the links I pasted below! that'll give you a good idea hopefully of how you could be a C or D cup. I'd go try some on at a store in your "measured" size and try a few sizes around it. Then I think you'll maybe understand. The problem with mainstream society is that they place anyone above a D cup as having HUGE monster boobies and that's just not true. I typically fit into an E or F cup but if I told my girl friends that they will just laugh at me! Mainstream society has warped proper bra fitting.

helpfulIn the third photo it doesn't look as if the bra is encasing all of your breast tissue - instead it is sitting on top of it/cutting into it. If you measure 29" around, definitely try to find a 30 band and go up a few cup sizes as the one you are currently wearing (the 32A) looks to be too small

I agree with the above user as well. 30C looks about right - try it and if it feels too big just keep trying other sizes! :)
http://www.figleaves.com/us/search/30c-just-peachy/ - you might want to try something from Figleaves as their bras don't break the bank and it won't be as painful paying for the things up front and returning them if they don't fit. I hear some of their bands run tight..? I myself have some bras on order from their Just peachy line and am anxious to see how they fit :)
Keep in mind as well, each brand will size slightly differently so you might find yourself wearing a 30C in one brand and a 30D in another. Can be so frustrating! Good luck with your search!

Just an update - I just received my Just Peachy bras and they are DIVINE. I highly suggest getting them. The gray (just for reference) has a light lavender undertone. I also bought the magenta and black one and it's stunning as well.
Good luck, darling! -
I get paid on Thursday so I may have to try out their bras - they look lovely! I do want to go to a store somewhere and try on some bras first though...my mind just refuses to believe that a 30C wouldn't leave me absolutely swimming.

helpfulI agree with the suggestion to try 30C or 28D. Cs and Ds are not really as big as our culture makes them out to be! Also, keep in mind that cup sizes at the smaller band side of the spectrum (32 and lower) are always going to be bigger than larger band sizes, simply because of the smaller band. It's so nice to be in a good fitting bra, so don't worry about the size on the label! Also, once you're in the right size bra, your size will be more accurate looking. You may actually be bigger than you thought you were, and the breast tissue was just getting smooshed to other places. If you're in America, it may be hard to find 30 and 28 bands. Don't be afraid of trying online stores. Yes, the shipping can hurt, but if you buy a few at a time it's not so bad. Try ASOS, they have free shipping both ways!

helpfulThe bra definitely seems too small for you. You can't always judge by your measurements for your bra size. You look like you may need a 34 inch band too. Try a 32B and a 34A. I'm sure one of them will fit you!Xhilarition makes comfortable bras! Try another one from that brand

Why do you say she needs a 34 inch band?
-
Hey, thanks for linking to some my listings :). No, seriously, lookingforalaska, a 30C might be right for you, but - as others have said - it's also important to get the right style/cut of bra. Maybe you'll find this helpful: http://www.bratabase.com/profile/65y/adventures/1530/. The Freya Pollyanna doesn't really work for this type of breasts and the Curvy Kate Tease me doesn't have a high rate of success, either (usually there's gapping at the top of the cups).
It's really important that the wires are wide enough and enclose all of your breast tissue. (The Mimi Holliday worked fine for me, btw., when I was a 30C. It's not on our list, because I was the only one of us who tried one on).
Maybe this'll help you, too: My measurements were 27.5" (very tight) and 29" (loose) underbust and 32.7" (standing), 31.3" (lying down), 33.3" (upper body bent over) circumference when I was a 30C.
