Freya » Deco Moulded Half Cup Bra (4232) » 28E 28:6
Issue resolved
I will try the sizes suggested, but since marking this as resolved I gained PMS size and the bra pictured gives me quadraboob.
Original problem
This bra is my first attempt to get into my real size. I've previously been wearing 32c/d because that's what's commercially available in my rural area. The cups fit well but the straps are always at my elbows. My boobs are bottom heavy which is why I prefer the push-up style to round me out. The Freya Deco Half Cup was the first push-up bra I could find in a small band. I bought it online in a 28e.
As you can see, in the 28e the band is very loose. I can stick an entire hand in, perpendicular to my body. The cups are also too large, even for my bigger boob (my left). If I stay in 28, should I go down one size or two? What cup size should I look for in a 26? 24?

helpfulHello The band on that bra runs really big, as with most Freya bras. It looks like you are on the right track though... That particular bra tends to give a little gap in the center area on certain people because the high wires and far apart cups. From the third picture, it looks like the cups are not too big, I think it is the loose band that causes breast tissue to not stay put combined with the far apart straps which makes it gap when you move around?
I would say you are a 28DD or a 26E based off your measurements. 24 bands will be too small.
26 bands can only be found from Ewa Michalak, as you probably know, and a lot of their bras come with removable push up padding. Made in Preston will also have 26's soon.
However... if you were wearing 32D's before, you might be able to get away with some 28E's and 26F's, but I would start with 28DD's that are known to be true to size and see what happens from there.Updated on June 1, 2013 Flag this

Yeah the freya Taylor runs about a band size big :( also with the deco plunge, the cups run big, some women need to go down a cup size so keep that in mind if you ever get one to rixie clip or alter the band :)

Thanks all. I noticed PMS size increase (+.75 perimeter, so far) so I tried the bra on again. Now I get quadraboob with minimal bottom gaping on the smaller boob though not as bad as pictured. I still plan to try 28dd as it is a better size overall for me, but does this mean I should stay in this cup size for the second half of the month, but look for a different cut? Or still go smaller? I thought I had it figured out and now it has changed on me... :-(

How about a plunge with a very open top? I personally really like Curvy Kate Tempt Me, and that one tends to run a bit small in the cup, so you can probably get away with 28E, so essentially you'll have more cleavage during the time of the month, and a little less at other times :)

helpfulI think you probably will need to go down a cup size. With your measurements, I would try to look for 28dd's that run snug in the band, if you don't want to go the custom route. The center gore looks a little too wide for you.
You could try the Masquerade Rhea- it runs snug in the band, and has a narrow center gore. It gives pretty good cleavage, although it doesn't have padding- more of a foam lining. In general, I find masquerade runs snug in the bands, and the gores are narrow.
There isn't really much available in terms of push up bras in 28's. The wireless deco is supposed to run true to size in the band, unlike the half cup and plunge, and because it's wireless, you won't have the problem with the cups being too far apart.

helpfulI agree that you should try a cup size down. The deco soft cup recommended by jen_377 is probably a good one for you to try as well. My ribcage measurement is about the same as yours and I find that the half cup is noticeably larger in the band than the soft cup. It's not a push up bra but it does push your boobs together (I don't get cleavage easily as my boobs are full on bottom and wide set but I get cleavage in that bra!).

Thank you! I appreciate the tip about Made in Preston - you're right, I have heard of Ewa Michalak, but am hesitant to custom order something when I don't know my size.
I think I need to find a plunge bra, because I don't need a lot of support and large gores hurt me. You said Freya runs large in general. Do you know if the Freya Taylor runs large in the band like the deco half?
