Bra fitting help » Tight band? Or am I used to poorly fitted bras?
Parfait By Affinitas » Donna Wire Bra (1702) » 30FF 30:8
Issue resolved
I'm going to just rough it out and stretch this bra slowly. I'm not used to wearing a 30 band, just came from a 36.
Edit: Ok I didn't make it through an entire day! The underwire started digging into my larger breast. I'm off to look for new bras that fit a wider root. Thanks again for the help ladies!
Original problem
This my first bra without padding and that is my proper band size. I haven't worn it because I feel like the band is too tight. Also it fits my left breast perfectly and it sort of cuts into the side of my right breast. Is this a proper fit?

helpfuli'd say it's a pretty good fit, as long as it's comfortable.
the band looks great from the back, it doesn't look like it's cutting in too bad, it will loosen after time.
with non padded bras it's easier to see when our breast aren't "perfectly" the same size.
i know that my left breast is smaller so on all my non-padded bras the left cup wrinkles a tad.
you can always try to look for bras that have a stretcher lace on top to accommodate that better.
the only thing i might be worried about is the gore poking the larger breast, does it hurt?Updated on February 11, 2015 Flag this

helpfulThis looks like a rather tight 30 band numbers-wise, and a couple other reviewers have mentioned the same issue--so if it feels too tight for you, it could be due to the band. Put on an extender and you will see if it makes a difference! A 3-hook band can offer some strong resistance and may not stretch as much as narrower bra bands.
If the band is not tight enough to distort the cups, then it also looks like you could use cups that are a little taller and more open on top.

giraffe_punch if you look at the profile photo, can you see how the top edge of the cup digs into the breast a little bit? Assuming that the band and cup size are not the problem, then this typically means that the cup shape was designed for a breast shape that had less fullness up where the cup ends, and less height. Does that make sense?
Regarding your choice to "tough it out" and wear the bra despite it feeling tight, I would just advise you to not disregard any feelings of intense discomfort or soreness. If you just mean that it feels tighter than you're used to, that is one thing and it makes sense to wear it until it stretches, but if "it feels tight" means that you are truly not comfortable or in pain, that's not normal. Slimmer gals especially can get bruising or pinched nerves this way because there's not a lot of flesh protecting the ribcage, so be conservative and don't ignore if it does not feel good. Saskia_C is very right, just because it LOOKS good and people on here said it was fine does not cancel out what your body is telling you :-)
You can also buy bra extenders for a couple bucks online or at a department store, maternity store, or sewing store, and this is typically a more comfortable way to ease your way into a tighter bra.

wendybien thanks so much! I'm wearing the bra for today, so far the band isn't bothersome. I may buy an extender or may just ditch this bra. I see what you're saying about cup shape, it does cut into my larger breast a bit, not really noticeable now but may be a problem later.

hehe, i guess me saying "stretcher" didn't get my point across, i should have said "more open on top", damn-it. next time! :)
...and you never know when it's the bras fault and not yours (say, it was sewn wrong), it's hard to sew bras, and when they are made mass produced your bound to get a dud ever once in a while so you know never know :) -
Laurizle I did not notice the "stretcher" typo hahaha... Fortunately this is not a bra disaster such that the victim would need to be carried away on a stretcher, but we've all seen other fitting requests that make it look like the bra is trying to kill the person wearing it!

hahaha! i know right, damn my cold fingers, i can never hit the right keys and then my computer always spell checks it to something WAY off, lol.

helpfulIf how you feel conflicts with the numbers that the bra calculator spits out, always go with how you feel.

helpfulI know Parfait runs tight and your numbers seem to say that too. If it's not comfortable I would recommend wearing an extender until it stretches out.

wendybien what do you mean by "more open on top"?
