It fits. At least it fits good enough. The wide set straps are going to let it gape more than it should. Other than that, it fits pretty well!
Original problem
I'm wondering if this bra fits. My breasts seem to fill the cups, but I get some gaping at the top. Immediately after I scoop and swoop, however, there is some slight quadboob. Is the gaping due to an ill fit, or because it is the wrong style for me?
In these pictures, the straps were too tight. When I loosened them to a comfortable level, the gaping became more noticeable.

It looks to me like the straps are set too far out. Just like a too wide cup can feel too big even though the volume might be right, too wide-set straps can free up space near the armpit. You don't actually have boobs there as the bra is cut for someone with wider shoulders. Try swooping and scooping and then tugging the top of the cup as to simulate a strap. Try tugging the cup to simulate a strap that is closer-set to your body. Maybe just an inch or so. Now, try bending over (while still tugging), twist and whatever just to see if you slip out. Did it help? Did it at least lessen the "outspill"?

Well... I really don't think it's because of the size of the bra (FF cup) because even if you wore a 28J or something that is insanely too big for you, the strap position would've likely not changed, and the wide-set straps are NOT wide-set because of the cup size, it's graded by the band size :) Unfortunately, most bra manufacturers don't seem to grade the smaller band-size bras like they should. They probably just base the cup pattern from a much bigger sister size (in your case, they've probably used the same cup + strap pattern as they did in 32E or 34DD) and slap a smaller band on. The problem with doing that is that they don't account for the (probably) smaller shoulders and sometimes narrower roots (your boobs can only be so wide in root width, even wide-rooted women with small frames might find problems with too wide wires in their size because of the inadequate grading system)
Is this bra returnable? I'm not sure how often you encounter this problem (too wide-set straps) but if it's seldom I would've probably sent it back, but it's your choice :) I would've sent it back regardless of the wide-set straps because if you get quadboob (if it's ever so slight, as to barely count, I might have kept it though) it's a bad fit. If you encounter this very often, I would've considered altering the strap position if I were you :) (I do this myself because my shoulders are very narrow compared to most women. They measure 34 cm where as the average shoulder width for a woman is 43 cm)

Well, I'm new to bra's that fit (still haven't quite figured it out properly yet) and am glad that I understood what is wrong with this one from the begining!
I got it from ebay for really cheap, and while it doesn't fit perfectly, it fits well enough (better than most or almost all of what I have currently) and I think I'll keep it if a different size will not help with the issues.
Now that I know that bra-makers do not always use a new pattern for different sized bras, I'm a little worried about finding bras that will actually fit properly!

Ok, so trying it on again, it's very smooth when my shoulders are back (when I'm using good posture). No quadboob in at all. But when I move my shoulders forward, there is some noticeable (for me) gaping. If I tug at the cup an inch or two towards the gore instead of where the straps are currently, it seems to go away.
While it is wearable now, is there a good tutorial on how to alter the strap position without messing up the bra?

It's not just the sizing - keep track of the style of bras you've tried, also. (It can be helpful to find them in online shops, since they'll usually describe the general 'type' of shape - balconette, half cup, plunge, etc.) I don't actually have terribly narrow shoulders but there's only a small area where a band can sit comfortably because I have a lot of muscle (too far to the outside or inside and the strap isn't sitting properly flat and digs in even on correctly sized bras) and a LOT of bra designs out there now don't suit me just because the straps are set SO wide.
The bummer is that often the bras look really lovely on the models, too, and I have to smack my hands away from ordering 'just to see' when I know darn well just from looking at the construction that the bra isn't going to be comfortable even if it does basically fit. (That said, sometimes I can get away with bras with straps that are wide in front if the straps connect closer to the center in the back - so if you're willing to try altering your bra anyway, that might be something to experiment with. I might loosen the straps on the bra all the way and just play with pinning a ribbon or something in various places to simulate the strap placement, so you know what you want to do before you cut into the bra.) (Actually, I have a bra I may try that on...)
Watch out on bra-sized swimwear, also - there's a lot of cute stuff, but it tends to follow the design of popular bras in terms of general shaping, so some of the styles have the straps set right on the outside edge of the cup. (Bra sized swimwear is an amazing thing when you find something that works for you, though.)

Gaping in the top might just mean that the breast tissue is concentrated on the bottom. The bra looks good on you, a good fitting, no point of fixing the gaping if you have to go with a smaller cup and over spill.
If you don't want gaping in the top you might want to get a bra style that can lift, concentrate, and hold your breast so that you can look fuller on top.
It is really really hard to get a 100 percent percent fit, so bra cups will be a little too big or a little too small. Always go for a little too big so it leaves room in the cups for breast fluctuations, swoop and scoop, etc.

Thank you! I really like the look and style of this bra and how it makes my breasts look and really wanted to make sure that it was the best size for me, and it looks like it is.
On another note, I'm wanting to save up to try your bra's, but I'm worried about the expense (I don't like to pay shipping, so I'd most likely aim for $100+) because I'm currently going through some weight fluctuations and I'm about to do some traveling, so I'm expecting to lose some more weight. I might have to wait until the fall when I get back.

helpfulI have this bra and I think it's prone to gaping. The upper edge is somewhat more open than usually in such models. If it isn't visible under clothing it should be ok.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm not wearing it now, but I can try this when I go home. I did notice that the straps were uncomfortably wide on my shoulders, or at least enough that I'm concerned about them slipping off. Would this be because it is a FF cup or just the general shape of the bra? I thought that since it is a 28 band that the straps should be closer together.
