Bra fitting help » First attempt at a bra that actually fits!!
Parfait By Affinitas » Fiona Balconet Molded Padded Bra (2701) » 36FF 36:8
I recently got fed up with an ill fitting bra & decided to do something about it. This is my first one to try since doing measurements & fittings. I like it overall but there is gaping at the tops of the cups. I should probably send this back & get a smaller cup size. I also wondered if the band is too small? Its not uncomfortable, I can fit 2 fingers under it. But it does cut in a little as you can see in the pictures.
Also I am still trying to figure this out completely so any other fitting advice would be greatly appreciated!!

helpfulA tiny bit of cutting in does not indicate a too small band- if it's comfortable and you can still get two fingers I underneath then I'd say its a good fit.
Actually, I think if you ordered a smaller size, you'd find that it would be too small- it appears to be a style rather than a size issue, your filling out the bottom and middle of the cups fine. It's probably that the moulded plunge cups are too tall for you shape, and you'd be better with something more open on top, such as some balconettes and half cup styles.

Trust me, you become obsessed! And not just with fit bit with brands and whether or not you've tried this brand or not and how wide wires are! Once you've started there is no going back ;)

I can definitely see that, it's already begun! Cost is keeping it somewhat in check lol, but I'm still obsessed with finding a fit right now!

helpfulHave you swooped and scooped? That's a major issue.

prettyNpetite Thank you for these links!! I've tried to do the stoop-scoop-something but just didn't know what the hell I was doing XP
I watched/read these links & tried it again, definitely helped! But I'm still getting gaps in the tops (uploading new pictures now) that even show thru a shirt.
I don't know why this won't fit but I don't want to return it because it does fit better than anything I've ever owned! (have to love online 30 day return polices, think I've tried it on about 100 times already) I'm becoming obsessed with finding something that does fit!!

Hmm... It's obvious that the gore doesn't tack. I'm not quite sure why that is? And also, I'm not quite sure if the underwires are too narrow for you or not... Do you experience any discomfort from the wires? Like... Is it pressing into your breast tissue?
-
I had similar issue with the gore of parfait affinitas Alexis. Admittedly I needed a bigger cup- and they don't make it. But I really think it was alot to do with shallowness near the gore and the gor being wide. This may be an issue with here for Odilon

The wires don't press anywhere(other than the band being tighter than normal, but i think thats because I'm not used to a band that actually fits), which makes me think its a size/style issue. Ive got a couple others to post tomorrow.

helpfulI can't see your underbust measurement to judge. Parfait by Affinitas in general are known to have firmer bands. That being said, if you can fit 2 fingers under and stretch a bit, then it probably is ok.. some cutting is normal, especially if we have some squish to our torso. If this is your first try, you probably will find it a firm fit if you have been used to looser bands
Moulded type bras, can be hard to fit. Is the gore sitting flat? Its hard to tell, but it looks like the wires and gore in the middle are not sitting flat against your sternum(?). It also looks in your second picture like the wire isn't sitting at your inframmamary fold or there is empty space. Can you pull it up higher? If not and it looks like the cup may be a bit shallow for you at the bottom and also towards the center near the gore. I had similar problem with the Parfait Alexis- was too shallow in the centre for me. (It may also be a bit wide set for you).
I'm not sure on suggestions for you on other bras, but hopefully others will be able to offer some.

I think you are right about not being used to the band because I've been wearing much bigger bands (& I certainly have some 'squish'!)
The gore sits pretty flat, the top comes away from my sternum if i move strangely. Its the first bra I've had that the gore even touches, so its a huge improvement! I cannot pull it up any higher, it may be too shallow?

I'm looking at your photos and your listed measurements and thinking: have you measured using the site's guidelines? Measuring tape snug underbust (and not the way the department stores or VS would measure you which is over the top of the chest).
I also think this bra is the wrong style for you (as it is for me, with pendulous boobs).

I did the HerRoom measurements to begin with(bought that one because of those), but since have done others. I think most of the problem is the style (ordered a couple others & will post them tomorrow), but maybe size too. Got my Cleo Meg today :D its so pretty & actually fits well(tho my smaller boob makes everything seem a little awkward?!?!) at least much better than this one did!! Will post tomorrow!
-
OK. Pictures can be deceiving but compared to me, you look so small underbust.
And yes, having one boob smaller does throw everything off. You have to fit the larger one. I have that too and it's annoying.

helpfulWe are boob sisters! Mine are wider set but our measurements are very similar and I think our shapes are similar.
I'd say that bra does fit, you just need a different style. Something that conforms better to the top of your breast, or is open enough that it doesn't matter. Believe me, I feel your pain. I found that the Panache Porcelain fit the top shape of my breasts really well. Also, although I had a bit of gaping on the smaller side in the Curvy Kate Smoothie, for some reason it didn't show under clothes. (It also made my breasts look amazing!)
I'd discourage you going up in the band. I'm also 35.5" tight underbust and 38s are just not supportive enough. The "cutting in" is normal, as you really want the band to anchor on your rib cage, not the flesh on top of it.

helpfulHi there,
I tried this bra in the exact size...
I think it's the wrong style for you. You are lower-full...and this bra wants more upper fullness. It is also a bit shallow and your fullness is concentrated on the bottom....notice the way the cups squish your breasts out to the sides? It's also the reason the gore won't tack - overall the design is too shallow for your shape.
I am guessing you have wide-based breasts, and if you cup and lift them (like a bra would) while naked they do touch (or almost touch)? If so, try a plunge style bra. A low gore will allow you to adjust the bra and get the lift you need without jamming into the gore area - where your breasts will touch when lifted.
I've had great luck with Panache and Cleo plunges.
I understand your reluctance to let it go. Your first new bra won't be your best fit. I tried on a dozen or more before I finally found one that fit "well"? Just take notes and keep trying. Write down what works and what doesn't. You'll also find you mentally adjust to a tighter band, wires, etc. What was strange in the beginning won't bother you in a few weeks.

Thank you for the help! I think I'm not used to a band that actually fits yet. I will try another style, watching for good deals!
Who knew bras were so complicated D:
