Issue resolved
I'll keep this bra but I will be looking for others. It doesn't fit perfectly, but it wasn't too expensive.
Original problem
I recently got new bras with my new measurements. I went from a 36 C to a 32 DD. I purchased this bra from Nordstrom Rack and after wearing, I have red marks from the band. I tried bras on there in 32D, 32DD, 32DDD, 34D, 34DD. The 32DD's fit the best, maybe not perfect.
I can't tell if the bra is too small, if I do a scoop and swoop, I tend to get quadboob until I hike the bra up a bit. I also have a bit of arm fat showing at times, even after the fact. I posted the pictures on ABraThatFits (on Reddit) and some users suggested it was too small. Some said maybe it's not a good shape? That maybe my breasts are shallow?
But at the very top, sometimes the bra isn't flat against my chest and there is a gap. So I'm having difficulty figuring out if it's too big, too small, or it works and I just need to train my arm fat to become breast tissue again?
Please help! I like the fit of the bra a lot and I purchased quite a few in the size so I want to hear from you before returning and starting over.

helpfulFrom your side view picture, it definitely looks like the bra is too small for you, as you have lots of uncased breast tissue. Push up bras tend to run smaller, and moulded bras have a tendency to gap, because they retain their shape no matter what. Don't worry about it as long as it's not an issue for you, or doesn't show underneath clothes. I recommend you try a cup size up.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the brand so I didn't know. Hmm...did the gaping on the DDD's decrease when you tightened the band/straps?
-
No it did not. There was just all this empty space at the top of them. I had the straps as tight as I could manage.
-
I see. I'm not much of an expert, but perhaps you try a different brand? Or a slightly small 32DDD/slightly big 32DD.
-
I'll probably keep these, return a few, and buy other brands in the future. Thanks!

You're very welcome, sorry I couldn't be of much help!

helpfulI have the same issue with bras that have short wires. The breast tissue escapes under the armpit no matter how well I scoop and swoop.
I recommend you try on bras with longer wires and taller wings. This way, once you have properly scooped and swooped, the tissue will actually stay where it is supposed to – in the cup. It's very possible that after all the tissue is actually firmly in the cup, you will need to go a cup size up.

I'll look into it. I also tightened the straps and it feels much better now.

helpfulAgree with the above. This style is a tiny bit too small in the cup for you. Or the style is a tiny bit wide - it looks like it's pushing your breasts outwards just a bit?

helpfulYou seem to be a bit wider than you are deep in the cups. One trick you may want to try if you run into issues with gaping at the top, like you said you had when trying on the 32DDDs, is, when doing your scoop and swoop, tug on the end of the underwire under your arm and pull it farther back. This will bring in the breast tissue that is being left out under your arms, which will help you fill the cup more up top. I had a fitter show me this trick with a bra I thought was too big, and the difference was astounding. You could also try sheer cups instead of molded, so the top of the cups can be a bit more forgiving with any extra space you might have. Also, I know you said you tried the 34D, but you have to remember that each bra, even within the same brand, might fit a little differently. If you have red marks from the band and need a wider cup volume, I would suggest trying to go up a band size, and down a cup size. Hope this helps!

This particular model doesn't go up a cup size - but I tried on four 32DDD's today and all of them had tons of gaping. They did not fit whatsoever.
