Bra fitting help » size up or give up?
Ewa Michalak » Sm Beżyk (389) » 70K 32:15
Issue resolved
This bra and me are just not meant to be. It's wires are much too low and too narrow for me.
Original problem
The wires are too low on the sides and I can't scoop all my side tissue into the cups. Also the wires are borderline too narrow for me. This bra has a wire width of 16cm compared to my Panache bras that are about 18cm wide. I get no quadraboob however.
I cannot wear this bra longer than a few hours and I feel relieved when I take it off. On this picture :http://imageshack.us/a/img11/7610/bezyk.jpg
I try to show how my Panache wires would sit on me (dashed line) and where I get pain from the wires (red darts)
Now will sizing up to 70KK / 75K fix this or should I give up on this bra for good?
I really want to make this bra work. It's so pretty and it gives me an awesome front & center, not-wider-than-my-body shape.

helpfulThat bra is gorgeous. Very elegant! To me it looks as though this style would be a good fit for you, but the cups need to be at least one size up. The wires definitely look to narrow, and they appear to be digging into your rib cage. If a larger cup is still so low on your sides, though, this may not be the best fit for you; but I don't think it would have to be ruled out completely. Although I think the band appears to fit you, maybe a 34 would work better with these cups and their slightly narrow bands. The center gore looks just perfect for you, so I'm thinking you should try whichever band size doesn't change the proportions of the center gore when the bra is on you.

The wires are extremly narrow on this bra (I mean it's a 32K after all!) and when I first got it, I thought they sent me the wrong size.
Yes I think I'll just stick to Panache bras...

helpfulI think sizing up would help, based on my still somewhat limited Ewa experience, I think it will give you the extra volume you need as well as wider and higher wires, I am just not sure if it will be enough extra width and height? I guess it depends on what you intend to use the bra for and how much hassle you are willing to put up from the Ewa customer service end of things.
I think it's beautiful and this makes me super excited for mine, which is on its way! I ordered up a band to 70J instead of 65JJ because I did not want to deal with the hassle or extra cost of custom ordering, so I am glad to see yours is tight in the band.

I can only size up 1 cup size since they don't make this bra in any bigger sizes, but I fear the wire problem will not be solved with just 1 cup size up. :(
Yes the band was surprisingly tight! :) I'm not eager to deal with the customer service and if I ever decide to give this bra a chance I'll order a 75K rather than a (custom made) 70KK.
I hope you have more luck with your Bezyk :)) -
I should have known better than to get a 70 band, it is fastened on the tightest hook to start and still rides up. I am on the small end of 30/65 but still have trouble believing it I guess.
I have some similar issues - there is some gaping at the top of the cup in some locations, but minor quadboob at other points because of where my breast fullness falls. I think it was the right volume for me, just not quite the right cup cut. The wires were indeed very narrow. I have a narrow root so they were actually okay on me, but I've never ha wires this narrow before, so the skin hasn't had a chance to toughen up at the point where these wires end and they poke. This was a very weird fit on me. It's my first unpadded Ewa, so I'm not sure if all unpadded Ewas fit like this, or if it is just SMs, or just this bra. I might try again when they release more mesh bras because the upcoming ones look so pretty.

helpfulI actually think this is a very good fit by Ewas standards - she fits her models like this and your boobs look exactly like those well endowed ones in her photos.
However the picture 10/12 shows the real problem - due to too low and too narrow wires you do not get enough coverage from the side. To a lesser extent it looks like that picture of Branarchist on her bra fitting start.
This is why I think this bra cannot be an everyday bra in any size for you.
But if you are looking for a special occasion bra, I'd stick with this sizeUpdated on May 23, 2013 Flag this

The mirror shot really reveals it :( I would need at least 1 cm higher wires, and about 1.5cm-2cm wider for a good fit. The cups do not appear to small (no visible quadraboob) because I just can't fit all breast tissue in the cups. That's why my boobs look minimized in this bra:D
-
Oh my, yes that does look like me on the mirror pic :D I cannot wear something like that anymore because I'll have pain and poking.
I am still curious about experimenting with Ewa bras and putting Panache wires into it.
If you got a size up switching wires might be a good idea.
-
Branarchist I get pain from this bra when I'm wearing it a few hours.
I can only wear it for a short time. I really don't know if I'm buying another size - and I fear that Panache wires would be too long wouldn't they ? (Ok I could cut them... but I don't know if this bra is worth all that hassle)
I might just keep it around as an occasion bra. -
alisa I still cannot almost believe how they could ever make a bra this narrow. Look at this comparison, its's so absurd: http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dhnym/
I think I will have to try this idea with changing wires into Ewa bras myself.
But yes; keep it as a special occasion as I will with my Fresh.
-
Branarchist that's crazy! how can a 75H have similar wires to a 70K??
Maybe it is mislabelled after all??? -
alisa I'm thinking they might have put the wrong wires into it. TM BumbleBean what do you think about that theory? Are the wires really this extremely narrow in all the S bras?! I mean the 34H wings are way higher than on this bra :O
-
I just did a comparison of my 70JJ Sm Trefl and your 70K Sm Bezyk, and mine actually has wider wires than yours! Now, I could have measured incorrectly (not sure if I included the wire channels, so I need to check that), but it's almost 2 cm wider than yours.
Hmm.....
Here's a comparison of my 70JJ Sm Trefl, 70JJ S Porcelanka, and your Sm Bezyk. Interesting, for sure!
http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dhnyz/ -
BumbleBean Seriously the difference between Porcelanka and Trefl in the same size is absurd :O Of course cup depth in padded bras probably always will be less than unpadded bras, but still.
-
http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dhnyw/ This should sum it up. The 32J wires of Bezyk is wider and longer than those of 32K Bezyk.
-
BumbleBean if you could double-check on measuring cup width? I'll measure my bra also again because I can't believe it!
Now I'm starting to think this bra has wires that fit about a 70HH- 70J! -
MilkAndHoney Nesoa You're both very familiar with EM bras and cup construction. Do you also think alisa might have gotten the wrong wires?!
-
Just to make it more visual:

And here measuement double check proof:
-
Yup I really do think you got a too small pair of wires and they sewed the bra together for some reason I cannot even fathom. Either without not caring about it or without noticing it.
-
I definitely am no expert on Ewa, let alone on the larger cup sizes, so I can't really say what has happened here, but it surely seems strange that the wires in this one are exactly the same size as the wires in a bra, say, two cup sizes down and so much narrower and shorter than what one might expect for a 70K. Since it doesn't really make sense to sew a bra together with mismatching parts, it seems more likely that they have simply mislabelled it and sent out the wrong size. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened.
But for what it's worth: this is a truly gorgeous bra and it looks absolutely stunning on you, alisa ! I do hope for you that the sizing issue can be sorted out! :)
-
Ok, I've got my 70JJ Sm Trefl in front of me with my new snazzy measuring tape that has inches AND centimeters. ;-)
I apparently included the wire channels in my previous measurement (as did many of us in the past), so my NEW width measurement is: 6.25" (16 cm!)
However, when I put a little tension on the wires (to simulate what would happen when wearing the bra), the wires do seem to distort/widen quite a bit. It's kind of hard to measure while doing that, but it seems to add a few extra centimeters (which makes sense since my width measurement is around 18 or 19 and I find this bra to be darn near perfect in wire width for me.)
So, with that being said, maybe the wires ARE correct on yours?
-
I don't know what is most disturbing; wires being that narrow or if they got it wrong :D
-
My Ewa Michalak S Wiśniówka (345) in 60JJ has a wire width of 15 cm, and based on that EM uses the same wires in S and SM, and that the step in wire width is 0.5 cm per size in PL and HP/CH/CHP, this bra should have a wire width of 16.5 cm. Now, it might also be that the step in the S and SM bras are less than in the PL, because of the aim at making these bras narrower and deeper, but I wouldn't find the 16 cm in any way very strange or suspect you got the wrong wires.
-
Nesoa Oh then the bra is not mislabelled :O Thanks for clarifying this.
I should then stick to brands with wider wires (like Panache) and give up on Ewa. -
alisa, the S and the SM bras run a lot narrower than all other Ewa Michalak models, so it might be that there are other models that work for you if you haven't tried them.
-
Nesoa Besides SM and S only the PL comes in my size and that one does not work for me either- but for different reasons.
-
Ah, sorry! :(
-
alisa Just wanted to suggest looking at sharayahw's reviews of both the 70J Sm Trefl and Sm Bezyk (she's one of the few that has one of each in the same exact size.) She mentions that the Bezyk fits differently than the Trefl (and that the lace isn't as stretchy....whew, I'm not crazy! lol)
So, hopefully this means that there might be others that may work for you better even if this one doesn't (have you seen the Malinka???)
-
BumbleBean I kind of gave up on Ewa. I think it's hopeless for me. Wires will never be wide and tall enough and I don't feel like dealing with them (customer service) at all + the bras are expensive. I have the Bezyk here and haven't worn it since 2 weeks. I mean I don't need to pay 50 euro on bras I don't wear. :(
even if Trefls lace is stretchier, there will still be the wires issue.
Malinka is cute :) Why do they bring out such pretty bras when I can't wear them... ;(
-
I'm not sure, if you are Panache/Cleo girl, Ewa in SM will be always too narrow. Only 16cm in cups width I've got in Ewa but 70g.
