Bra fitting help » Quadboobing, underwires poking
Cleo » Lucy Balconnet Bra (5851) » 36H 36:11
Issue resolved
I altered the bra by stiching the whole gore in so the underwires are basically touching in the front. This lowered the ends of the wires on the sides and also loosened the top as well.
Only problem now is that I've gained some weight, so the bra is really tight and pressing on the front as skin/fat gets pinched on the space between the bottom curves of the bra. I might try 38G in other Panache bras and do similar alteration.
Original problem
I was recommended this bra in my earlier bra fit requests. I really, really want to like this bra but I can't ignore issues with it...
Good things:
- the bottom of the cup is absolutely smooth. I tend to get 'orange in the glass' with about EVERY bra I try on, but this was the first one that actually sat on the breast crease like it should.
- the band is maybe a bit loose, 34 might be even a better fit.Bad things:
- the underwire on the right side (my right boob is slightly bigger than the left) pokes and it hurts a lot. It comes quite up, I wonder if it should come any higher since there is a very slight spill?
- visible quadboobing (shown in pictures)Where to start solving this? I've been thinking of ordering the same bra in 34J for comparison, would that help?

helpfulOh dear, I don't think you are low on chest, quite the opposite! You seem to be very high on chest which is why you are bound to have pokey underwire problems. Larger cup would only make matter worse and I am not convinced this one suits your shape all that well.
It would be helpful if you included profile and semiprofile that show whole bra, the bottom section too.
Did you ever try taking in a gore on a bra? That helps with lucy, it might make some room on top and free your armpits.
But I think you might do better in Bravissimo padded halfcups and panache andorra perhaps. I'm reluctant to suggest any others without seeing more of youUpdated on May 18, 2013 Flag this

Added more pictures now, any help?

Okay, I saw you tried the unpadded halfcup, the padded ones do give better shape and support but if you don't wan't any boob outside the frame that probably isn't the way to go.
From the new pictures added this bra looks like it could be saved by taking in the gore. Try it with your hands.
http://boobiusmaximus.livejournal.com/1474.htmlHelp me to understand your boobs better. You say your perimeter is 50 - are you really wide rooted or really pendulous? Or could you try remeasuring it this way
http://www.bratabase.com/profile/3bw/adventures/1402/
Because if you have such a large perimeter chances are this bra is sitting on your breast tissue. Also, would you say your boobs fall in shallow or projected category?
Do they have more glandular or fatty tissue? -
I'm both wide-rooted and pendulous - the outer edge of the breast continues well into the armpit, and the breasts hang very low, which made me think originally I was low on chest.
Letting my breasts hanging freely, the upper part of the breast (around the root) is quite empty, and most of the fullness of the breast is around the nipple. Here's some pictures to demonstrate: a) profile view (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56918074/bare-profile.jpg) semi-profile (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56918074/bare-semiprofile.jpg)
My breast perimeter (following the given measurement instructions) while laying down is 38 inches, so a lot less than the 'bending' perimeter. They are definitely very shallow since they sag, as you can tell by the pictures. They are very soft and fatty, not firm at all.

Oh you're my larger twin, that's what I thought :D You have cut off the top of your boobs because you thought the projected part of your boobs was all there was to them. But they are all around your torso.
I think you need much much larger cups than you thought at first, but I can warn you; you will run into new fit issues when you do because your boobs are what I call "uneven". A larger version of this; http://www.venusianglow.com/2013/03/examples-of-shallow-breasts-nsfw.html Look at bust H. It's Jillsas :) She hasn't cut off her boobs like you and I have.
With the measuring method Vee suggested I get the result of 39 cm and my best fitting bra is an altered Ariza 34J with an altered gore and added center pulled straps. It's slightly too small on the bottom of my larger boob where all my volume is. It gapes on top but the support is nice. Until very recently Andorra was my best fitting bra, but it became too shallow. So I fear it might be too shallow for you.
I think we talked on my - Freya » Cabaret Bikini Top (3076) fit request last year when I was new on Bratabase :)

Thank you, most helpful! So You are definitely very high on chest and you need somewhat shallow cups with wider wires that shouldn't be too high. Also, the cup has to be open or forgiving on top because your boobs also start very high on chest, they start underneath you collarbones.
so I'm pretty sure Andorra is your best bet and I'd jump straight to 36 J with that one. Panache is the obvious choice but I think the wires on those bras might cause you pain under arm. You would probably need 36HH in most bras from superbra line.
I think you should explore the world of padded halfcups - padded being the key word here because you need more structure in a bra. So bravissimo and freyas halfcups.
Also, I think Elomi isn't a bad brand to explore, especially newer models. You should stalk Greenpianokeys here on Bratabase, I think some of the same bras could work for you. When you get closer to the right size I would encourage you to rather go with a slightly too big bra then one on the small side. I think there might be noticeable migration where you could retrieve a bug part of the upper fullness you lost with time.

Oh and Libby just published this, I think both of you may find it helpful ^^

helpfulYou can see in the picture 3 that the breast tissue is spilling out from the sides of the cup, not that much from the front/center.

helpfulI am of no help here, I have the same bra in purple in a 36F and I have the exact same problems with it that you do. I thought it was awesome, but the underwires on the sides keep digging into me. Good luck!

helpfulThis is a shape issue I think. I would try Cleo Marcie instead.

Panache Andorra I haven't tried yet. Bravissimo half-cups don't seem to offer enough side support, meaning the boobs slide to the side of the cup and don't offer enough forward projection.
