Issue resolved
Bad shape for me.
Original problem
Edit: After wearing a full day, I think this bra is almost perfect for me. I had to use an extender on it's tightest setting because it's so tight, but it stayed in place perfectly. I never had to readjust. That wrinkle never disappeared though. It is slightly visible through my shirts, but just barely. I'm not sure yet if it's enough to get worked up over.
So, my questions are: 1)Would a 28G fit better? I don't think I could fill up a larger cup, but I've not yet tried two different sizes of the same bra.
2) And, with this fitting pretty well, but not perfect... Should I try the Marcie? Would it possibly fit better? I keep reading that most ladies that can get the Lucy or Marcie to fit prefer one or the other.
For more info on the wrinkle, keep reading, but I think that I've summed up the wall of text below already.
I was hoping this would be the bra for me, and it almost is. It looks great besides a wrinkle in the top of the cup, in the single layer mesh/lace part shown in the pictures where I'm pinching.
I get a wonderful round shape under a tight t-shirt, which I was looking for. When I'm standing straight, the cup is pretty full, except for a single wrinkle that is visible through the t-shirt. When I slouch, there is a lot of empty fabric, which I expected.
I think it's the correct size because I don't get quadboob, and I'm pretty sure a 28G would be too big and a 28F too small. I tried an extender, and it did the same thing as well, so I don't think the band is too small. What do you ladies think? Is it the correct size and just a bad shape?
I was thinking that either one of these alterations would help:

http://brasihate.blogspot.it/2012/07/how-to-make-high-cut-bra-lower-cut.html
But I don't know if I could properly sew the material.
I'm still trying to figure out my breast shape so I can find a properly fitting bra. I've yet to try on one without gaping at the top. Does this gaping indicate anything about my shape? I just attribute it to my rather prominent breast bone. Any bra recommendations? I was thinking about trying the Cleo Marcie or Curvy Kate Tease Me next.
Thanks Ladies!

helpfulif all the bras you've tried gape at the top, the marcie may be a bad choice, as it's designed for breasts that are fuller on top than the lucy is.
how are the wires on the bra? my lucy's wires are way wider than my root, and my boobs are fuller in the middle than on the sides, so i feel like the side of the cup gets kinda flattened weird for me.

hmm, if you think you're more full on top maybe the marcie will work after all! if the rhea works maybe other halfcup style bras that are super open on top would work? freya half cup maybe? but i dunno what that means about the gaping... sorry i can't be of more help :[

Anything to point me in a new direction is great! The lucy was recommended for me when I thought I was a completely different shape, and it worked pretty well, though not perfect. So, these fitting help discussions help me try on new bras not quite blindly, and help me get closer to figuring out my shape and the perfect bra for me! Thanks for your imput!

Seems like you're a shallow shape, that's why you always gape at the top. Half cups are recommended generally, but I personally recommend looking at cup depth measurements before you buy.Updated on June 17, 2013 Flag this

You're on the right track with Panache, as they are good for shallow shapes. I'd suggest the Juna though, it has more openness on the top.

if you're not averse to doing a (not-time consuming, reversible!) alteration, and by your question it seems you're not. I've done it by hand and machine, depending on the bra and my mood, and it is extremely easy.
I have had exactly the same problem with a lot of bras and my breasts are very, very similar to yours in shape (and we even have the same back and cup size, although I haven't updated this site recently to reflect the 28ffs I've taken to wearing recently).
I got so sick of bras I really liked being sooooo close to fitting everywhere except the little bit of lace at the top, and I can't count how many times I've sent bras back because of this and then even started avoiding bras with lace at the top. This tiny alteration has been a lifesaver for me, and I really love being able to choose pretty, lacy bras now!
I have also seen a version of this alteration with the lace pinched behind the gore and then cut off the strap-side and resewn, but I think this is a better way to do it if you'd ever like to undo it because of a slight change in size, or to sell the bra.

A cup smaller is definitelay a no no. I might be getting quadboob at the seam below the lace, but I can't tell. I think it's an almost perfect fit after wearing it all day, but I still have that slight wrinkle, and very slight quadboob when pushing my shoulders back.

Okay, still new to this whole thing so I'm still learning about fits as well ^.^

helpfulMaybe the shape of where the straps gather the cup isn't the best shape for you ? (I mean it as it pulls too much on the bra's soft fabric, or is too wide-set)
Or maybe (I prefer this idea) you should try a bra with a straight line as the cup horizontal seam, this one has a curvy horizontal seam and I feel that if you're not full enough at the top, it won't look as good. Or the top lace should be tighter.
But I'm just a beginner, and english is not my mother tongue, so I may be wrong Just trying to give you different ideas... Tell me what you think !Updated on May 15, 2013 Flag this

I agree with your first two comments. I've had trouble filling the top of every bra that I've tried, yet the top cuts into my breast unless its open like the rhea where there is open space if I'm not standing straight... The Lucy here is the least noticeable so far. I'm thinking that a halfcup shaped like the rhea would be nice, but wonder if it could hold me in.
The tighter lace us a no no because it will cut in....

I see what you mean about the halfcup... well if you think this style will suit you best, I suggest you go on a fitting spree to your nearest professional lingerie shop ;) There is one that will hold your breast tissue in place for sure ! One like the Rhea you mentionned that seems to have stronger/stiffer fabric ? I fear that you could spill out in a stretchy fabric like the Lucy's...
Sorry if I can't be of more help ;) Good luck in your bra search ! -
My breast are firm enough to not spill out of the stretchy fabric. I really need a good t-shirt type bra and this seems to be working great (after a month or so). I think I might need a cup size larger, but I also think that based on the fit issues, a cup size larger will be even more wrinkly.
I wish I had a professional lingerie shop nearby! I've searched over and over. I think that there is an Intimate's store 70 miles away that I plan on going to when I'm in that direction. All of the other shops I've seen don't cary sub 32 bands sadly.

That's what I'm worried about. I'm having problems figuring out where I'm really full at. I think i'm more full on top and the sides with a wide root. Anything with tight lace at the top cuts in, even if the cup is too large, but I can't fill the top of the cup. I have a few bra's with cups too small, but I can't fill out the top of those either.
The Masquerade Rhea fits me pretty well, but if I don't sit perfectly straight, I get major gaping. I think it's the same for the Curvy Kate Thrill me.
I don't think I look like I have narrow shoulders, but the bra straps continuously falling in my 32s and 34s are what caused me to start looking for better sizes, and for the two bra's that fit well enough above and the Lucy here, it seems that if I move the straps in about an inch at the front, all of my gaping will go away. But, with the Lucy, it would mean that the cups are too small.
Oh, and the wires seem to be right on the money, if not too small/narrow. The sides do cut into my armpit though, which would also be fixed if the straps were in about an inch on both sides.
