Bra fitting help » Cups warping & spillage toward the center- wrong shape?
Freya » Deco Moulded Plunge Bra (4234) » 36G 36:9
Issue resolved
I think the shape of the Deco and my breast shape are just not compatible. It seems likely that I have fairly soft tissue and possibly a more 'full in the middle' shape than the Deco can support. I'm going to check out Ewa Michalak's 'S' bras as suggested for a plunge with a higher gore that might help support and contain my center breast tissue.
Thanks for the help everyone, seems like I'm just not destined to be a die-hard-Deco-fan like some other lucky folks
Original problem
First of all, thank you for looking at this and for any suggestions you might have!
What works:
The center gore in the Deco tacks and stays put just fine, and I definitely like 36 bands even though I measure at almost 38. The shape and uplift with clothes on is the best I've come across so far and besides needing to sweep my boobs away from the gore back towards the cups frequently, it's very comfortable. The issues:
The odd warping in the cup that happens next to the gore and awkward overflowing toward the center above the gore. I included a picture taken from below (with me leaning my head waaay back to avoid my face being in the shot, lol) to show more clearly the warping in the cups that I'm talking about.I was hoping the Deco would give me the beautiful uplift I've seen it provide other people, but instead of being pushed up, my breast tissue seems to just weigh down the cup and spill forward.
The 36GG Deco that I tried on a while ago was unfortunately too large, so although I know this 36G is too small for me, I'm wondering if there is a different cup style or shape that might be a better idea for my shape and (I think?) soft tissue?
The few bra fitters I've been to seem dead set on full-coverage, high gore and high cup only for me..I really hope that's not my only hope!
PS- For reference, I have a 36GG Panache Jasmine that fits better than this bra, but the shape is much much lower, separate, and less projection. Having my breast higher is much more flattering so even though the Jasmine doesn't have overflow, I still find myself reaching for the Deco.
Edited to add: Please disregard the breast shapes I have listed for myself below with my measurements. I made those determinations 9 months ago before I knew much about breast shape and before some tissue re-migration just based on the drawings and my best guess. I've looked and I see where to change my measurements but don't know how to change the shape? Sorry if those were misleading for the first folks to respond!

helpfulI'm not sure, but maybe your boobs aren't very soft, but full in the middle? I'm sure you've seen the talk about breast shapes here on Bratabase and we discuss a lot about FOT (full on top) and FOB (full on bottom), and although I've seen people discuss full in middle, I haven't seen it nearly as much as FOT and FOB. Therefore, I am unable to provide you with help determining if you in fact are FIM (full in middle) =/ A hint might be that if you often spill out in the middle, you might be FIM, because there's simply so much tissue there and the cups might not have been designed with that in mind. I would like someone with FIM boobs to help you out further, so if there is any woman who is reading this, please help her! x)
Have you seen BIHAL's guide to determine if you're FOT or FOB? (You might be balanced though) Here it is if you haven't, that won't help you out much in the case of this bra, but it might be of assistance when you decide to try on new bras http://brasihate.blogspot.se/2013/02/clarifying-breast-shape-full-on-top-vs.html
The warping... I'm not sure, but if you in fact are FIM, it might be that the weight of your breast is dispersed a little bit more on that area of the cup than what the bra is designed for, and so it buckles under the pressure. I dunno, I might be totally off on this since I haven't seen it before, not that I can recall anyway, but that's my best guess

helpfulSoft boobs tends to do this thing with plunges ;/ There is not a lot you can do. The softer the boobs the higher the gore, it's a fact.
But there are plunges with higher goes. Like Ewa Michalak S bras.
I myself have become more inclined to simply false fit myself when wanting cleavage and settle for fullcups the rest of the days.
To ideally hold soft boobs into a cleavage bra it would need to be constructed differentlywith two layers instead of one. One balcony halfcup cut and one plunging cut.
Anyhow Ewa S is the best plunge for softer boobs.
However about projection; not every boobs are supposed to project and with a wide root and soft boobs projection often means "complete with armpit rolls" because boobs are naturally not at the front of the body.
Now; I think what might work for your boobs could be sizing up, swoop and scoop more and adding center pulled straps. But then you might need even more than one size up.
If you are the one with the added Jasmine here in that size I happened upon your pics in the middle of the night because that Jasmine looked perfect on you! What I mean is I recognize your nick from my late night stalking and I also adored that hair! Funny coincidence it is.
How soft are your boobs btw? Can you make them crease if pushed against the chest?
I have become softer recently when swoop and scoop gave me new boob tissue. They look the same without a bra but with a bra on I spill towards the center just like you. But there are plunges and halfcups I could wear had them been available

Thanks for the detailed reply! I feel like to make sense in my response It'll be easier if I quote something you said, then reply to it below. I apologize in advance that I'm very wordy and long-winded!
- "However about projection; not every boobs are supposed to project and with a wide root and soft boobs projection often means "complete with armpit rolls" because boobs are naturally not at the front of the body."
That makes sense, and I still haven't quite figured out my root type yet at this point in my bra adventure, but I do think it should be pretty possible for my shape/tissue type to be fairly forward and projected. For instance, if I have no bra on, and simply lift my breasts up (just straight up, no manipulating them forward) then I'd say a good 90% of my tissue is already in front of my body. I'm not sure if that made sense, but I can swing my arms forward with no bra on and they barely touch the side of my boobs, so I've been frustrated when most of the full cup bras I've tried on push my boobs wider and farther back when they don't naturally sit there.- "Now; I think what might work for your boobs could be sizing up, swoop and scoop more and adding center pulled straps. But then you might need even more than one size up."
Center-pulled straps? That sounds perfect, but I'm not familiar with what that might look like.- "If you are the one with the added Jasmine here in that size I happened upon your pics in the middle of the night because that Jasmine looked perfect on you! What I mean is I recognize your nick from my late night stalking and I also adored that hair!"
Thanks! Yeah, that's me here: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/panache/jasmine-6951/36GG/pictures/
And the Jasmine does look pretty nice, but really most of the support on me, and all of the lift, is coming from the straps. Even on the smallest hooks, without the straps pulled really tight, my boobs pretty much rest on my rib cage. So I can wear it for shorter days, but that in combination with the underarm area digging into me means that it just isn't comfortable for everyday wear unfortunately :(- "How soft are your boobs btw? Can you make them crease if pushed against the chest?"
I'm not sure what you mean by 'make them crease'? And to be honest, I'm not really sure how soft they are? I've fluctuated in weight, had at least a cup size if not two of tissue re-migration since I stopped wearing my awful 40DD minimizer bras, and figured that those things plus spillage in plunge styles might equal soft-- but I really have no basis for comparison in real life, you know? It's tricky! -
Ah yup, it's tricky, I agree. But in that case you clearly can wear narrower wires and if you want a plunge I'd recommend Ewa Michalak S bras. Also it looks as if this band is riding up and your hooks doesn't look to strained. What is your tight as madness underbust measurement? Jasmine being supported by the straps also sounds like you might need a tighter band. Also I'm sorry it took so long answering. I had to think for a while :)
With crease I mean like I do here 32GG - Braologie » Posture Contour Bra Lacie when pushing it against the chest so it blows up like a ballon lol.

I marked this as resolved because it seems that the deco shape just isn't compatible with my shape, but wanted to add one more comment to complete the info here for future reference.
My tiiiiightest measurement really is 36'' and Jasmine on the tightest hook is definitely the tightest I can go without causing myself harm, so I'm not sure what the issue is with that one. I see what you mean about the Deco looking like it rides up in the back but on the tightest hook (very stretchy band I think!) that doesn't seem to happen. Good thing to look out for though, thanks for pointing that out!
I'm going to look into the Ewa Michalak S bras for sure, thanks so much for all of your help!

vtgirl Then my best guess is the Jasmine is what I call "too projected". The further out from our bodies our boobs come the more they weigh relatively to your body. Think of like when you move on a sewsaw. Also if your boobs are somewhat soft what might look as fitting doesn't necessarily fit. At least that's what I'm thinking.

I'm not sure why my straps were adjusted a little wonky, but adjusted a little more evenly, the bra doesn't really fit any differently and it certainly doesn't change the warping or spilling issues. I tend to wear the straps a little tighter than I'd ideally like with this bra because otherwise the cups collapse under the weight of my breasts and the little warping bubbly bits near the gore turn into full blown creases.
Edited to add: I also tend to need the strap on the right side a little bit looser than on the left side because my right breast is bigger and tends to quad-boob first.

helpfulThis is the only Freya bra that I have tried that doesn't work for me. It is fine when I first put it on, however, my breasts end up falling out towards the middle. I assume this is because I am older and my breasts aren't as self supportive. I spoke to Bravissimo about this and I was told this bra doesn't work for everyone, however, for the ones it does it seems very popular.

Thanks for your comment Jana, yeah it seems like the Deco and I are just not compatible because I need some more support in the center too. Good to know it's not just me! ;)

Yes, I've read extensively (and a bit obsessively to be honest, lol) everything I can find and follow a lot of bra blogger, BIHAL is SO HELPFUL :)
I would definitely say that I'm Full on Bottom.
One of the reasons that the larger Deco didn't work on me was that I wasn't filling out the top part. If I have gaping in a bra, it's pretty much always going to be the upper top part of the cup especially nearest the strap. I've also never ever gotten that beautiful cleavagy rounded m crease shape above my boobs that I notice most self-proclaimed Full on Top bra bloggers seem to get (if you know what I mean!)
The Full in the Middle theory is a very interesting one! If only we had those handy BIHAL diagrams for determining that ;D This seems pretty likely to me now that you mention it, it seems like a lot of my breast tissue is in the area between my nipples and where the gore of a bra would be (maybe a little under 2/3 of each)?
But again, like not really knowing if I qualify as soft or not, I don't really know if I'm FIM compared to other people because I don't really have any point of reference for what other boobs look like ;P
Thanks for your help! I definitely need to look into this FIM theory, thanks for bringing it to my attention!
