Bra fitting help » This is too big in the cup, but which size to try next?

Issue resolved
Exchanged this for a 30E and it works though I have to go with the 2nd hook and foresee a Rixie clip in my future. However for the price and the nice cup fit I am fine with that.
Original problem
So I wasn't able to find this bra in a 28F that I was looking for at a price I wanted to pay. So I grabbed this 28FF from Amazon just to see. Some people had suggested that it might fit.
Anyway on my larger boob the cup wrinkles at bit at the top I unfortunately couldn't get a good photo of that and it just looks smooth here. If both sides were the same I wouldn't mind it, but the smaller side gapes quite a bit. You can see it in the photo where I am angled to the right. I can pinch out almost 3/4".
Also the wires on this size go considerably further back than the 30D which leaves me with about 1" of extra fabric over there.
My question is should I go with the 28F or should I go with the 30E? I would love for the wire to be less wide and high. Also I am not sure if the 28 will feel too tight after a while wearing it or if it will stretch. I can get a bit of stretch out of the band on the 28 but when I lift my shoulders the wires rub my ribs as it goes up and down. In the 30 it did not do that. I would imagine that if I bent the wires on the 28 that might help. I don't know if I am just not used to the tight band since I have been wearing 32s up to now. I can fasten the 28 on the tightest hooks but it is definitely too tight to wear that way. However the 30 band wanted to ride up on the loosest hooks.

helpfulYou look like if you stuck with this size but went with the Cleo Lucy instead that it will be a good fit and a round shape.

helpfulI had a similar fit with the Marcie - it fit well in the bottom of the cup, but I just had too much room in the top. I order the size down, and while it looked better, the bottom of the cup wasn't comfortable - the underwire was too small. I hemmed and hawed and ended up keeping both past the return date. I decided to put the larger cup size on and wear it around the house. I found this - the longer I wore it, the more I settled into the bra. Now, it's my favorite bra. The top of the lace isn't super snug as it is with Jasmine or Andorra, but it does fit and it's supportive. And if you're close set, it's a rare Panache that has closely set cups.
It looks to me like the bottom of the cup fits you, yes? Is it comfortable? Does it feel supportive? How does it look under a shirt?
By the way, the Marcie will stretch. I returned the 30 because I thought it would be to miserably tight to wear and ordered the 32; I'm now on the tightest set of hooks and hoping it doesn't stretch further.
I second the suggestion that the Lucy in this same size is worth trying. The gore is wider than the Marcie, but if it's too wide it's an easy alteration.

The Lucy is also fairly stretchy. The Jasmine, however (and I mention it because you might like the shape if you like the Marcie) is very tight and it stays that way. I have it in a 30 and it's misery to wear for any length of time; I'll order it the next time in a 32.
Good luck! :)

helpfulIf you want smaller cups, I'd go for the Marcie in a 30E. Didn't you write somewhere that you could get that at a much better price? Wear it on the second set of hooks and shorten it when it becomes too wide.
A tighter band will always pull the wires apart, making them wider.Updated on May 16, 2013 Flag this

That is definitely a good point about the smaller band pulling the wires. I guess I could also try the rixie clip instead if permanent alterations.

helpfulA cup smaller, I'd think... but it's not tHAT much too big.
If the 30 is more comfortable to you, wear a 30. Your body composition is fairly similar to mine, and my underbust is almost 2in smaller than yours, given how 28's fit on me I'd wear a 30 if I my underbust were wider, except for wide-running bras of course. It's not about the 'rules' it's about comfort... and if it supports and doesn't ride up...
Oh, and btw... usually if a bra feels tight it stretches out just enough within a day.

Thanks for the input on the band stretching. Maybe I should get the 28 and an extender for a bit. The Lucy is definitely on my radar.
