Returned the bras. Thanks for the help!
Original problem
I need help from the bra gurus, please! I followed magic fitting instructions on reddit, and discovered I was a 32DD/ 34D, instead of the 34B with weird armpit fat I was convinced I was. So, I went out and bought a few new bras. Most of my new 32DD/ 34D bras fit well and are comfortable. The above bra in question seems to fit well and looks great under fitted shirts, but it causes me back pain. I never had any back pain from wearing the wrong size bras for ~25 years, but within a few hours of putting on this new bra yesterday, I had horrible back pain. I discovered the band had already stretched a lot (it needed to go to the 2nd set of hooks already, in the first few hours of wearing it), and the straps were digging into my shoulders. I tried it on again this morning, and my back, which is still tender, immediately hurt again.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've never had back pain from a bra before. Should I see if the pain clears up, and try it again in a few days with the band tightened up to the 2nd hooks and the straps very loose? Or is the pain a sign that despite looking nice and being very inexpensive, it should be returned to the store? There's no possibility of exchange for the a different size, as this bra doesn't come in 32DD.
Thanks for any help!

helpfulI may be wrong, but from the front shot I would never say your underbust is 34, I'd say 32 at best. The measure you should put here in bratabase is somewhere inbetween the loosest inhaled and tightest exhaled.
Also, just laying there the band looks much wider then that nude bra, so it can very well be that you are not supported properly.BUT! If the band isn't too loose and or riding up, I can only offer you a theory I have on my own bras that fit but cause back pain.
Different bras tend to distribute the weight of the breast differently and also thec can change your posture to some extent. For me some bras cause back pain until I get used to the distribution. It happens again if I haven't worn the bra for a long time. It has to do with the band, but for me also with the strap position I think.
So if it clears up after 3-4 wears, it's probably that.Updated on May 16, 2013 Flag this

helpfulYou don't have enough breast tissue to cause (deep) back pain from their weight, which is normally the problem with large-chested ladies with poor fitting bras. You didn't specify WHERE the back hurts? I'm guessing it's pressure from the bra somewhere on your back, probably the straps. In this case probably because the band is useless. I don't think the band size is the problem; I think you got that right but the band fabric on the black one is far too stretchy.
I have a bra that does that too; band stretches out too much and in my case it starts chafing somewhere. (the Freya Arabella).
Have you tried the nude one? I'd say give your body a rest for a day or 2 and try the nude one and see if that one is better. It looks like it has a sturdier fabric.Updated on May 16, 2013 Flag this

helpfulOk, thank you both very much! The pain started above my shoulder blades and went down below my shoulder blades, along my spine. I decided to return these bras. Thanks again for the suggestions!
