Issue resolved
It was suggested I try a 28E or a 30DD in this and/or the Cleo Marcie. A link was provided to a list of recommended bras for wider & shallower shapes.
Original problem
What do I try next? The band is uncomfortable, the center gore does not tack and it doesn't feel very supportive. I've also tried the Marcie 28DD and the Tango II in a 30D with no luck.

helpfulDefinitely too small and probably too closed off for you. I'd try cleo marcie in 30DD or 28E (you may need an extender for a little bit on a 28 band, but it will loosen up after a few wears if it's anything like my 28 band marcie).

helpfulYep, too small and the wrong shape. The Marcie would be worth trying in a larger size, you also might want to look in to the Freya padded half cups in a 30DD or 28E - they might work well with your shape as well!

@Imross-I will look into the Freyas. Will the padded half cups perhaps work better because I'm shallow on top?
-
Yes - the Freya padded halfcups are better for wider, shallower breasts. The Lucy has a very closed rim, so you can see how it is starting to cut in to your upper breast tissue. It's also good for deeper, full on bottom shapes. Look for halfcups with vertical seams and an open rim - they will likely work well for you. The Patsy, Ingrid, Marina, and similar Freya models would be worth trying on. Just be careful that you're getting the padded halfcups and not the unpadded plunges, since Freya has a tendency to use the same name for different styles!

This list might also help, if you look at the bras no one had problems with. The Lucy is on the list, but some of us had exactly the same problem as you - it's too closed at the top.
Do the wires of this Lucy lie on you breast tissue on the outside btw.? That'd be another hint that the cups are too small. -
@Libby-Thank you for the list, I've been looking into a few of the brands mentioned. I don't think the Lucy wires were on my breast tissue but to be honest I don't remember the details well. I start to confuse them a bit since I've tried on at least 8 bras this past week. Next time I place an order, I will order the same bra in several sizes!

helpfulI think you need a smaller/narrower center gore (do you think your breasts are closely set?), and a larger cupsize which is why the band feels too tight. Have you swooped and scooped?

I did swoop and scoop but they don't stay put as I move around. My breasts are a little close set (one finger's width) but I'm still figuring out my fit issues. This is all still pretty new to me, didn't realize I'd been wearing the wrong size for so many years!

Try a bra in a 28 F with a narrow center gore, I'm looking for some bloggers with a similar shape. I'll let you know if I find one, hope this helps!

Thanks for the link. I'll definitely be reading her blog, lots of great information and bra reviews.

helpfulI've tried on the Lucy and the Marcie quite a few times over the last few months and the cuts seem to be very similar. I agree with the other ladies about trying either a 30DD or 28E if you want to try to stick with those two styles.

I may give them one last try next time I place an online order. If only some store around me began to carry 28 bands...!

helpfulYou look like you have a lot of the same shaping issues as me; as well as similar measurements. I've recently learned that this shape is just bad for me. It looks like it's pulling boobs down, rather than providing uplift, and it does absolutely nothing for the shallow top part of the breasts. You don't appear to have narrow shoulders, so you'll have a lot more options! These straps don't look too wide set, but the center gore does look too wide. I think you should try something with larger cups and a narrower center gore.

I totally agree with your description of how it appears! I think that being full on bottom and having soft breasts, uplift is more of a concern for me?
Based on what I read on your profile page, we also weigh about the same and I'm a half inch shorter. I should take a look at which brands worked for you...

@soufi-The 28DD was a Marcie, not a Lucy but I didn't catch the mistake until I saw your reply. I did like the style of the Marcie better :)
