Bra fitting help » Marcie - what's up with this bra?

Issue resolved
The bra is just wrong for me and it's not supportive at all. I give up on Cleo. They are not supportive anymore in this size range.
Original problem
The band is too big on this bra. I would normally wear a 32 or a 34 band.
The cups seem to fit, but then the wires distorts. Does that mean that the cups are too deep?
I also feel like I've gained 3 cup sizes over night, in this bra I look more busty than ever ! Why is that happening? It's almost too much. I like a round shape, but I don't want to look more busty than I am.
I get also slight wrinkling on top, but while wearing my boobs fill out that space.Overall it is not really supportive!
There is too much strain on the straps and not enough lift and support from the center, where
my boobs are heaviest... this worries me, I only wore the bra 5 mins but I already felt that I would get neck pain from wearing it longer.
Can one save it? Or should I just give up on Marcie (or Cleo in general) for good?

helpfulIt looks to me like you're having troubles with the armhole placement and strap placement on this bra. Especially in the first picture, it looks like your arm is getting in the way of where the cups want to sit. This is the biggest problem I think with going up sister sizes to fit in the cups. Bras are designed for larger bodies (if they are actually scaled at all... which I sometimes doubt).
A test which I like to do often is holding my arms out straight at shoulder height, and moving the straps out onto my arms to see how that affects the fit. If it feels better like that, then it's a strap placement issue. The straps are also trying to lift from too close to the edge of the bra, which gives you the lack of support feeling. You could move the straps in a little, though that would close off the top and sides of the cup more, and the wires would become effectively wider on you. You could also go Branarchist style and try racerbacking the straps with a bag clip to give the bra more lift and force the straps further in. Shortening the band will also angle the straps in at the back a bit for you, which may help a bit.
I know you're like me and despise cutting in on top, so making the regular Marcie alteration would probably be a better bet than changing sizes.

That bra which just fits when I put it on? I'm really hoping for one of those as well. I know that they're out there!
-
Sometimes I don't think there is a bra that just fits perfectly without compromise or the need for alternations out there :/
-
I comment here :)
In the Bratabase cup depth sense these cups are too deep yes. If you would start to move straps you'd quadboob. And the bra still wouldn't be supportive enough. It's not a good bra to alter in your usual way. I think you looked the same in the 30HH as in this one. It doesn't seem to be a good bra on you and since your boobs are so far away from your body you won't get a god support either.
On the other hand a 36J bra could hardly be supportive on you because of the band being at least two band sizes too big? And also what would happen if you tightened it? Where would the wires end on your sides?
I think this is the thing; Bras are made to fit in a certain way. Marcie isn't supposed to fit like this. This is a very round and projected bra and when sizing up in it it becomes even more projected.
I think if you want a bra to support this high on chest you need it close to your body, but then you probably need to stick to altering typical avocado A cut balconettes, not H cuts. http://www.avocado.com.pl/sklep/pl/modele.html
Or try halfcups. They will also push boobs closer to the body, but since they don't curve back on top they will not cause quadboob I think.
And maybe now we can conclude that Nsm was right about Cleo not being good for boobs full in the upper inner quadrant.
Now question; Could you add pics of the bra only lightly swooped and scooped?
To keep boobs close to the body probably fullcups and halfcups are the best since they are both made to be closer to the body from the beginning :)

Yes, Branarchist, you are right, the cups are actually too big on this bra!
Very lightly scooped and swooped: http://www.flickr.com/photos/96373516@N07/9309250354/in/set-72157634666270000Also I tried Ereshiys shoulder test and:

It's clear the bra is made with a wider ribcage than mine in mind. (Ok duh since it's a 36 band on a 32'' ribcage, but those pics help to visualisize it)Here is my Marcie - racerback trial :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/96373516@N07/sets/72157634680189339/It looks and feels better, but then another problem appears: those straps have edges that are razorsharp and cut into my back fluff like crazy... I don't know if I can stand to wear the bra like this!
-
The only trouble with finding the bras are made for wider people than you are, is the fact that I'm still yet to find a way to walk around with the straps on my arms all the time. :P
The racerback looks like it fits better in terms of lift, but it's a comfort thing. If it's not comfy like that, then there's no point in wearing it. As someone who has to keep wearing bras which hurt me, I say don't wear bras which hurt you! (Now if only I could figure out some way to take my own advice).
Depending on how hung up you are on the idea of keeping this bra, you could swap in some straps from something which is more comfortable (like one of your old Tangos perhaps). You could just get more Sculptresse bras too, which seem to be pretty good on you, and more comfy in large cup sizes than Cleo, with their itchy straps of doom and 2 hook closures.

My size is quite different from yours, so my comments may be completely useless. Recently I've been trying Cleo bras myself, and I've been wondering about the Marcie. When I saw your fit request I was curious about the bra. My first thought was that the cups look too big for you...I'm relieved to see that @Branarchist thought this as well, so I know I'm not losing my mind. Perhaps the cups look too big to me because the armholes are such a bad fit for you? Armholes are my nemesis, and so far I've decided that Cleo has the most inconsistent and awkward armpit holes of any brand I've tried.
The way the armholes are cut on your bra seems to cause the bra to "tip" toward you rather than push front and center. The tipping pushes your breasts apart and toward the sides of your body, and they don't appear to be lifted. The wires look awfully high for you, and the sides of the cups seem to have too much extra space. Maybe a smaller cup would be better, as well as a smaller band. These cups look pretty wide (to me) and you appear to have narrower, front-projecting breasts. It doesn't look like you need forward "pushing", but it does look like you need support that's in the same place as your breasts.
Honestly, I'm getting a neck-ache just looking at your photos. Ouch! This bra cannot be comfortable!
However, it does look nice on you and the color is lovely :)

I have nothing constructive to add, but I would just like to point out that IMHO your boobs look great in Marcie ^^
-
Same here.....ugh, I'm so sorry that it's not doing anything for you in the comfort department, but that shape is amazing!
-
Hmm Maybe this shape should be described as all fat in cups + natural boob shape in a bra that deceives because it looks like if fits, when it does in reality nothing for the boobs but hold them in their natural shape? Kind of how i would look in an Elomi bra I think. Cups too deep, band too loose, but the bra wouldn't help my boobs one bit, it would just sit there.

Branarchist you said "fullcups and halfcups are the best since they are both made to be closer to the body from the beginning."
I am curious, where do you get this idea? I do not agree at all. I have half-cups that project a lot and half-cups that hug. I have full-cups that project a lot and full-cups that hug. I also have balconets that project and balconets that hug. Whether or not a bra hugs or projects is not dependent on its classification as full-cup, half-cup, or balconet. It is dependent on the specific cut of the bra.

helpfulI think the size is good. I think you need more narrow wires because they look like they are almost touching your back on the side.

helpfulFitwise, it looks like wider wires and more narrowly set traps would help. Wider wires would make it so that the cups don't have to be as deep, and in all probablility give you more support since you'll be less extended outward. The straps being set more narrowly would keep the bra from attacking your arms and also give a bit more support in the middle where you are worried about it. Astetically, wider wires will let you get a more shallow cup, and (for me anyway) when there is too much sepperation between the cups I feel like my chest has grown several sizes because they get jutted out so far away from my body. I hope this helps!

helpfulCleo balconets are known for giving a very lifted, up-front shape. I used to feel like this made me look "more busty", because I interpreted "higher" with "looking bigger." However, I have come to think that we see it this way because from our perspective, the boobs are suddenly a lot closer to our faces! When looking down at them, they are closer and look bigger; when looking in the mirror, having them closer to the face makes us perceive them as bigger because our brains naturally focus on the face area.
All that aside, though . . .
If the band is too bit, it's too big. You aren't going to get good support from a too-big band. Also, I agree with Ereshiy that the edge of the cup is cutting into your armpit (a symptom of a too-big band.)
I disagree with Branarchist that Cleo is not good for breasts that are full in the upper, inner quadrant. That is actually where I am very full, and I love the Sasha/Alexa. I don't quad or spill out of them. This bra just doesn't fit alisa. It's unfortunate because frankly it looks awesome and these pics make me want to give the Marcie a chance.
Also, some full cups keep the boobs close and some have a lot of projection. Same with halfcups- I have some Masquerade half-cups that project a lot. I don't think we can truthfully generalize that all half-cups and full cups are huggers and all balconets are out there, it just isn't true. You can cut any bra to either project or to hug.

Thanks :) I just had the hope that one bra will just fit. Like putting it on, and everything is awesome. Anyway - I try tomorrow some of the things you recommended and see what happends. Maybe it can be save with some alternations...
