Hmm... I'm not really sure.
I've yet to try a Curvy Kate (though one is coming my way) and I've heard that, in general, the older models are shallow and you have to size up in the cup. The newer models are yet to be examined as much, but I know that they did some modifications to their cuts and fit for this current season.
I've noticed that with swimwear, most here tend to go up one band size and possibly down one cup size, just because the underbust tightness you want in an undergarment may be more tight than you want in a bathing suit?
I'd say it most likely depends on the brand and style.
What I'd do is... if you're looking at a particular style, try to compare the measurements to the bras here and how they fit you.
I'm still figuring out my size, but I know that most of the time I go up to a 14" cup perimeter (my boob perimeter is ~14.3"), usually it's a little big on me, mostly because of my short boob volume problem. I try to go with ones that are 12.5"-13.5" and I'd pick a certain size in a brand/style to try by checking out their measurements. That means I usually try for a GG (UK), but I know some will be too loose and some will be too snug.
If you notice, most of us put a range of sizes in our profile because we all know that we are different sizes across different sizing schemes, brand, and styles.

Does it feel like the cup/strap are cutting into your armpit area, near where the strap meets the bra? like if you moved your arms around there would be annoying chaffing?

It doesn't feel like it chafes. It's actually really soft and silky feeling. It seems pretty pliable on the body, tends to move with it when it can and glides smoothly over when it can't.

Thank you much. Agreed. Getting a bikini kinda worried me cause I heard they ran big. A question if I may. With the way the other bras fit, does that make me an ff or an f, and does that mean I'm shallow shaped?
