Curvy Kate » Daily Boost Balcony Bra (CK1801) » 28DD 28:5
Issue resolved
Fits! I wish the band was higher quality. As the bra ages I may attempt to replace the band. I love the cups on this bra, but at this point I wouldn't repurchase this bra because the band seems too flimsy for the cups.
Original problem
All ideas are much appreciated. Since I mostly wear t-shirts it's crazy that I've been buying so many lovely bras with lace and decoration. (All these years I've never believed I could enjoy such things, so I'm truly indulging myself). The one true "t-shirt" bra I have is a Panache Porcelain, but I seem to have the wrong size, or something. The Porcelain cuts into the tops of my already shallow boobs so I get quad-boob with every movement.
I decided to try to find a 3 part balcony bra for "my" t-shirt. The Daily Boost (in the photos) arrived yesterday. At first I thought it would never work, but I took Bratabase advice and "swooped and scooped" and twisted and shoved (literally grunting), and I think this is as close as I'm going to get with a good fit in a bra that's not a balconette. Even though DB's cups keep the fat from migrating forward, as you can see, I still have a defined roll under my arms. I don't know if this is a bra issue or bad genetics. (However,I seem to be the only woman in my family that has this).
In the "leaning forward" photo, the awkward shading makes the cups look looser than they look in reality, but I don't feel like I'm falling out and my nipples never show through these cups (unlike Panache Porcelain)...Daily Boost's cups are MUCH deeper than I expected them to be in a 28DD, but the lift they give me is very good. They don't quad or cut into my breasts, and they don't wrinkle or fold.
I do have to use the tightest hooks on this bra because it "feels" more like a 30 than a 28, but it does feel like it will be very comfortable once I break it in.
Does it look like a match to you?

helpfulI can't believe that is a 28 band because it looks like it's riding up in back. Am I wrong. Maybe try to have the band on a looser hook might help that it looks like it is way tight and riding up in back. Other than that the cups looks like they are right size and maybe some room for the armpit fat (which I have also) so please don't be offended) but I have been trying to put my armpit fat back into my breast perimeter area. lol. I like the cups for that reason and also because they seem to fit. I am 2 months new to this so please forgive any mistakes. thank you

I have never heard of Daily Boost or Soma Sensuous Sides Full coverage bras. Thanks :) I want to try a Mimi Holliday bra because they look like they would be good for short boobies. I feel like I have short boobies.

The cups look like a pretty great fit! Congrats! :)
If you have any experience with sewing (or know someone who does) you could try cutting the band from your Panache Porcelain and sewing it to your DB. I did this twice with the band from a Le Mystere Dream Tisha onto a Wacoal Awareness Contour and have loved the results. Granted, it doesn't exactly look pretty, but it fits wonderfully!

Exasperated - I do sew, and I alter my bras often, but I've never attempted replacing an entire band. I wasn't sure it was really possible!
Where did you remove and then reattach the bands? That must be especially hard with a seamless Tisha! What type of stitching do you use to keep the bands firmly attached?I think I'll pick up a couple of $7.00 bras at Marshalls or TJ Maxx and do some "practice runs". Thanks so much for the great idea!

ShaniSunAZ - What I did was cut the band as close to the cup as I could on the Tisha and then sew that to my Wacoal without removing the band on the Wacoal. I used my machine to get as close to the cup as I could, then reinforced it by hand-sewing it closer. (I think it's called a running stitch, but I'm not sure. I used doubled-up thread and went over places that I knew would be stressed several times.) After I was sure it would work, I removed the Wacoal's band and attached the Tisha's straps to my Wacoal's through the ring that holds the stretchy part of the strap that adjusts. So what I ended up with is a normal looking bra from the front, and from the back it looks like Tisha, but with half of Wacoal's straps, if that makes any sense. I could send you pictures if you want, but I'm not sure how/if that's possible.
I had tried taking in the band on a different Wacoal because it had stretched out, but that didn't quite do it for me. I was so desperate, I finally decided to try this and it has worked great. Plus, I now have the perfect cup for me attached to the heaven that is a three-hooked, smoothing band, with boning, that never rides up!
I hope it works just as well for you!

helpfulAwesome, I think this is the best I've ever seen Curvy Kate look on anyone! Lucky you, because they have so many cute styles! That is a little crazy that the band stretches to 33" though. It's really unfortunate that the band runs so loose because you can't size down from a 28

Thank you SO much for your help! You have a great eye for band issues. If I could put Daily Boost's cups on my Panache Porcelain band I've have the perfect bra! The band on my Panache Porcelain is the most stable throughout the day of all my bras.
My Daily Boost definitely has a 28 band. Oddly enough, even though it looks tight, if I'm indoors in air-conditioning and not moving around much, the band rides up my back after a few hours. Either I shrink or the band stretches, not sure which. When I first put the bra on it fits super super snug, but after a couple of hours I find myself falling out a little in the middle front because the cups are pushing downward and pulling up the back. This is very, very minor though, especially in comparison to what I used to go through before I knew smaller bands existed. And even if I fall in front, nothing gets out the sides or the top corners of these cups, and that is my main bra problem. This bra "lifts" like I have a hand holding each breast forward, which gives me cleavage without smashing my breasts into each other. With this bra, when I am outdoors, (when everything "swells"), I don't get quadro-boobs, plus the bra band stays snug, so this bra is comfortable and practical for moving around a lot.
I'm only a few months into this bra fit stuff, too, but I want to let you know that I have definitely seen a difference in my armpit fat, so you will too! "Migration" is not just a myth. ;) I definitely recommend the cups on the Daily Boost for this issue. Even though the side band isn't very tall, the way the cups are shaped helps keeps everything in them.
FYI - the best bra I've found so far (besides this one) for getting rid of armpit fat is the Soma Sensuous Sides Full Coverage bra. I have 3 of them; two lace ones and one moulded cup one. I'm not a fan of moulded cups in general. so I prefer the lace ones. They are soft enough and comfy enough even for sleep! If I do wear them to bed it's nice to wake up in the morning and not have my boobs in my armpits with fat rolls on top!
