Issue resolved
I'm going to try a 28E.
Original problem
I have a Tango II in 28DD and the pictured Tango II in 30D. The 28 band feels like it fits well and it gives me remarkable support, however the 28DD cups "pinch" in the very tips, which causes some wrinkles at the tops of the cups. So, I bought a Tango in a 30D, and the cups do "feel" wider and I feel like I get more of my breast tissue into the ends of the cups. The problem is, the cups still wrinkle at the tips and they cause the same crinkling at the tops of the cups. This puckering doesn't show through my clothing, and it doesn't make this bra less comfortable, but I'd like to find a perfect fit (if that's even possible.) I love Tango II because I've always been a huge fan of unlined cups, but offerings in my size are few and far between (bra makers think everyone with my size wants padded push-ups, I think). The underwires on the 30D encircle all my tissue perfectly and the tall sides help prevent side escape. If I could somehow elongate my boobs, I would but no matter how much I pack them in the cups, I get "orange in a glass". Should I try a 28E? I assumed the 28E cups would be longer, not wider, which is the opposite of what I need.

helpfulIn case it's of any help, I wrote a couple of notes on the differences between Tango 28DD and 28E here: http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dhjpn/ I also took that comparison photo showing the 28DD (purple cup) on top of the 28E (beige cup) with the underwires level at the bottom, where you can see that the 28E is noticeably taller.
I think this cup may be slightly too small for you, but 28E or 30DD would likely be too deep and the cup wrinkling would get worse. As Jillsas mentioned, the Tango is designed for deep breasts and is rather closed on top; it can be very difficult to fit if your breasts are at all shallow. If you like unlined cups, Cleo bras might be worth a try, maybe the Cleo Lucy.

You're welcome. :) I've only tried one Cleo (the Lucy) myself, but I see a lot of people recommending them for shallow breasts. The shallow guide at reddit's /r/abrathatfits community specifically mentions the Cleo Brooke, George, Marcie, Bonnie, Frances and Lucy, plus the Juna family.

I just went to the reddit community and read the "shallow breasts" section. Oh my gosh - it links to a photo of "me" in a kind of "don't let this happen to you" example!! ("When you try on an unlined bra, it often seems like it's simultaneously too big and too small..."). Guess you could say it's a "Duh" moment for me. I am laughing so hard, I'm being eyed suspiciously. That Annabelle was indeed a nasty fit!

helpfulIt's not going to work unless you do some pretty severe modifications on it. This bra is made for deep breasts that have very little top volume. It's really designed for larger breasts. You have shallow breasts which need less depth and open edges (which this lacks). You'd need to get a too large size and then perform this (http://brasihate.blogspot.com/2012/08/how-to-make-pointy-bra-round.html) modifcation to an extreme and maybe this (http://brasihate.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-make-high-cut-bra-lower-cut.html) one as well.

Yikes! I didn't think it was that bad...I thought the bra was a pretty good fit but the sizing was the issue...
The scary thing is, photos don't show just how much that bra is lifting up my boobs, lol. ;)
Those links you provided are brilliant! I am going to try this alteration on one of my Freya balcony plunge bras one of these days. I think the "roundedness" probably would help compensate for my shallowness.
In the blog links you gave me, the funny thing is, I LIKE the shape that blogger calls "pointy" when I wear unlined bras. Unlined bras that are rounded too much can make my mushy look like they're flat with a bulge on the bottom that points down instead of forward. The blogger, however, looks beautiful in both styles! I don't think she looks "pointy" at all. The shape is more "natural", and the uplift, to me, looks better in the bra before it was rounded. However, this is me talking from the perspective of a 28DD/30D which, obviously, is a very small size. I don't look for minimizing but for "lift" and "shape" from my bras.
Tango II's shape is so nice for my lower breasts, particularly because of how the underwire fits, and the tops of the cups stops my soft tissue from "jiggling" the way they do in balconettes. I'm relatively new to all of this so I'm still learning the terminology. What do you mean by "deep breasts with very little top volume"? I know I have "shallow" breasts, but I want to learn what "deep" is. By "top volume" you mean more tissue on the tops of the breasts than below the nipple, yes?
Do you think those cups look too high cut for me? They don't feel "high" on my chest at all. Maybe this is another area of confusion for me. What would you say is a "low" cup bra? I should try one I suppose.
Thank you thank you for all your help! Sorry I'm rambling on and on. Every day there's something new to learn and I'm trying to sort it all out. :-)

It's not too high cut. I was only suggesting that if you go up in a size that's too big. The reason I suggested the make a pointy cup round link wasn't actually to make the cup round. That modification serves the purpose of removing depth from the cup. Removing depth from the cup often make the cup rounder, which is why that was the name of the modification.
I'm a big fan of the green shape as well, but what you have is not a size issue. The combination of it being too baggy in places and digging in in others is always a shape issue.

Again, thank you thank you. Learning about cup shaping has been trial and error, and you are helping me more than you could know!
I had done a "Know Your Breasts" online questionnaire at @Herrom and the #1 bra recommended for me was the Tango II Balconette. It was the first "properly sized" bra I ever bought. After a few months it occurred to me that the 28DD wasn't really a great fit, so I bought a 30D. Even though I was aware that different cups fit in different ways, I was thinking that sizing up or down in the band could make the cups more shallow.
I have been checking cup depths and I thought I'd found a "range" that worked for me. So, even if I got a Tango in a cup that's too large, the cup would likely be too small at the tips because of their design?
So much to learn...
Thank you so very much, Jillsas.

Oh dear. Yeah, Herroom gives crap suggestions. It's useful when it comes to self-analysis of breast shape, but that's it.
Also, what do you mean the tips? The edge? Where the 3 panels come together in the bra?
waffleknit gave some pretty good suggestions. If you need something cheap, both La Senza and M&S bras can be hit or miss, but they often do work on shallow breasts.
-
What I meant by the "tips" is the part of the cups where my nipples go. I don't know the proper terms yet. It is definitely where the 3 panels meet. It's bizarre about HerRoom. When I first started this "journey" I though they knew what they were doing, but when I do their "test" now, I'm shocked at some of the recommendations they make. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks their recs are crappy.
Another of their recommendations I took them up on was the Atlantis wire-free T-shirt bra. I think I posted a picture here...it was SO bad on me, but I wore it a lot because it was "supposed" to be the right size. http://www.bratabase.com/bra/dhsol/
In retrospect, it's almost funny. I suppose their bra recommendations are based to a large degree on getting rid of styles that are soon-to-be discontinued, or that aren't selling well. I see now that the Atlantis T-shirt bra is discontinued!

I just looked at my know your breasts recs again and they're bad. What they do is they do a combination of hard to sell bras (due to their bad quality like the Jude, the Panache Porcelain, Daily Boost, etc...) and their most popular bras that tend to work on a large portion of the population. When in doubt, ask. You'll get more personalized results by posting fit checks and asking people who really know what they're doing (like famous lingerie bloggers such as Venusian Glow, some people on the A Bra That Fits subreddit, etc...). Better if they're near your size. I would definitely consider reading through Venusian Glow's blog and maybe corresponding with her because her size is 30D and she has shallow breasts, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly (I actually sent questions to her once and it got answered within a week on her blog. An entire blog post dedicated to my question!).
-
I checked out the Venusian Glow blog. I LOVE it! Amazing to me! You are completely right...she's definitely my size range and her shape seems comparable. It's incredible to me to see so many of the issues I've had all my life explained and understood so well. I always avoided thinking about bras and wore them carelessly and badly. As far as I was concerned they were an embarrassing annoying necessity that wasn't in the stars for me to ever enjoy. It's wonderful to be able to learn about bras and to feel so much better about myself.

helpfulI would try 28E if you really like this bra enough. It might be better. That bra looks way better on you than my panache tango plunge. Good luck!

Aw, thanks Jasminepetra :-)
I tried a Tango "plunge" and it was a mess. Every time I took a breath I jiggled. I look pretty bad in plunge bras. Not a good look for my soft saggy boobs.
I'm going to try a 28E for the heck of it. In the bras I have the mesh gets stretchier with wear, so perhaps I can stretch the ends of the cups a little wider. My new Curvy Kate from the other day was so easy compared to this Tango. CK's cups are already shaped like me so I don't have to figure out how to wear them.
Thanks again! ;)

helpfulI have had the same problem. I don't think I'm shallow but I think I am heavy on bottom. Cleo bras fit me so much better than panache. I can't tell from the picture that anything is wrong(the one on the right). And to tell you the truth the tango li I tried on didn't look half as good on me as that bra looks on you.

That is a HUGE help! Thank you :-)
I have a Cleo Alexa in 28E, (I bought this size because it was the only one available at a huge discount and I wanted to see what the bra was like), but I had to alter the cups because they gaped and wrinkled badly, only at the top. It was frustrating because the bra felt like it fit perfectly except for that lace adornment on the cups. I hesitated to purchase one in a smaller size because I was afraid the underwires would be too short, as they are in my other Cleo bras. Your photo of the two "Tangos" makes it look like I'd have the same problem with a 28E as I had with the Alexa. Drat.
So far, the one Curvy Kate bra I have seems to be the only one that's really a match for my breast shape (Daily Boost). Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to be constructed with shallow breasts in mind. Are Cleo unlined for shallow breasts? Except for the wires being too short on the sides I like my Junas.
