Bra fitting help » What Size Do I Look Like?
Elle Macpherson Intimates » Unknown Model » 32DD 32:5
Not sure if this is allowed- it's my first post. My only issue with the bra is that its band is too big, but I'm actually wondering what size I *look* like. Recently a friend told me there's no way I'm bigger than a B cup, and it's making me wonder if I'm just delusional when sizing myself. If you didn't know my size, what would you guess I was?

helpfulIt looks like this bra, on top of being too big in the band, is pushing your boobs down and squashing them because the cup size is too small. It's hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like the wire isn't sitting at the crease at the bottom of your breast. Try reaching your hand in, scoop up your breast and pull the cup up so the wire sits a long the base of your breast. You will probably end up with massive spillage at the top. Like someone else suggested, you are probably around a 28FF or G, 28F at the smallest. Also, your friend is crazy. Even if you would assume a 34 band, which most people uneducated about bra fitting normally do, you look like a D at the very least.

helpfulYour friend is a doofus. Cup size is relative to band size. If I had to guess what your proper size is (by non VS-type methods), you'd be a 28FF or G or so.

You're not far off- I actually do feel great in a 28F, but it's a pain in the ass to find, so I tend to settle on 30E or 30DD. My friend wasn't trying to hurt my feelings, but since I actually have worn a 28B in the past, I just...I don't know, it sounded absurd?
-
I think it's pretty absurd, yeah. Tell her that the letters have to do with distance off your chest -- unless you've only got a two inch difference, you're not a B :)
-
Maybe your friend tells you you are a A or B cup, because she is certainly wearing a badly fitted 34C or 36C and have bigger breasts than you ? My mother tells me exactly the same thing because she thinks she is a "C" cup :( (and for her, all "C" cups are the same for each band size).
-
khasiv yeah, I told her that, and she just siad "I'm sorry, but there's no way."
Galactica She actually had boobs similar to mine in volume but on a bigger frame and she was wearing a B cup. I'm guessing since mine weren't a lot bigger, she assumed I was wearing a B cup too. I wanted to explain how it all worked, but I got the sense she wouldn't be open to that. haha. I don't know WHERE she got A-cup from though. To me an A cup is usually pretty close to flat.

Since you mentioned 28F's being hard to find, here are a bunch on ebay.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Bras-Bra-Sets-/63853/i.html?Chest%2520Size=28&_from=R40&_nkw=bra&_pppn=r1&_dcat=63853&Cup%2520Size=F|FF
I saw some 28F's on figleaves, too.I've heard some nice things about the Freya Deco (4234),hopefully I have the right model there, but haven't tried it yet or researched a lot.Lots of people love it,though.
Mimi Holliday has a lot of nice bras,I have tried one of them, the lace maxi bra and it seems true to size. The super plunge run a bit small and it looks like shoulder bras might too,so you may want to size up to FF or G in those.
http://www.damaris.co.uk/lingerie-underwear/BRAS?Size=ALL
Here's a few I found on ebay as well.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?Chest%2520Size=28|30&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=mimi%20holliday&_pppn=r1&_dcat=63853&Cup%2520Size=F|FF|G|GG -
So helpful, thanks!!! I like Freya, although I tried the deco a while ago and felt the shape just wasn't right for me...but maybe I was taking the wrong size, who knows?
-
Welcome! :)
It could be the shape was wrong for you, that does happen.I talked to Lucy at Butterfly Collection and she gave me some tips on the kind of bras I should try for my boobie type.lol.
You can try emailing her and see what she says.
http://www.butterflycollection.ca
I'm pretty sure I've seen a few bra bloggers with a shape similar to your's (lovely figure, btw.Maybe that's why your friend is saying you are a B,might be a bit jealous?),hopefully I can find them and give you the links. -
SparkleDarkles Thank you! That's so sweet! I don't think she was jealous but my guess is maybe she was thrown off by the fact that I was wearing a super-flattening Freya sports bra at the time (in a 28DDD, funny enough- I certainly didn't tell her that!) She's seen me in push up bras before too though so who knows? Maybe she never noticed my boobs at all until I was wearing the sports bra lol
-
SparkleDarkles oh, also, what did you think my boob shape was? I have no clue lol
Oh, and referring to below: I didn't mean to offend you or anyone with the stripper comment. I was referring to a false stereotype of DD+ boobs...I don't think a size can make someone strippery, it all has to do with the type of implant you get. Natural boobs (and most implants) almost never look strippery- only the specific type of implant that is meant to look unnatural and "strained" if you know what I mean. Think Courtney Stodden in her current form! I've been to too many strip clubs, lol.
-
Is the center gore lying flat? It doesn't look like that in the photo. If that's true you'll have to go down a band size, or two, and up in cup sizes.
-
uniteacher the gore does lie relatively flat, although in most 32DDs it doesn't. Elle McPherson bras run tight in the band, but still not as tight as a 30 or 28 which is what I probably need.

helpfulDon't you hate it when your friends tell you what size you can't be? My ex best friend thought the 38Ds I was wearing were too big, and they were so small I had six boobs. I don't even tell people what size I wear anymore.
Try this calculator. It's super accurate. http://sizemapp.com/en/Updated on July 26, 2013 Flag this
-
Great calculator! It put me at a 28FF (or 30DDD/F if I wanted a looser band). Both of those sizes fit although I feel so comfortable in a 30DD just because I like tight-fitting bras- they make me feel bigger (I want bigger boobs lol)
-
I tried your calculator it put me in a 24G for UK which I wear sister sizes to that. Seems pretty good.

helpfulYour friend is an ignoramus and you're most definitely not delusional. I'd guess you're a 30F or 28FF or thereabouts. Rule of thumb: if you fill the cups, the cup size is right. If you tried to squeeze into a B cup you'd get horrific overspill/quad-boob.
Updated on July 28, 2013 Flag this
-
Seriously...although I don't think my friend is an ignoramus but she should probably learn a bit more about bra sizing. In fact just to see what would happen, I tried on a 34B and it fit horribly...band riding up...etc. I even get that effect with 32Ds so I'm not sure why my friend thought she knew better. They're my boobs, after all.

helpfulYour friend doesn't know much about bra fitting at all.Even when I knew nothing about bra fitting,I wouldn't think you are a B.
This time,don't take the friend's advice,take our's!lol
I agree with the other guesses,I'd say you are around a 30FF,maybe 28G,somewhere in that neighborhood. What ayoungpretender said about moving the cup over to encase all your breast tissue is great advice.I used this to help figure out that my bra size was several cup sizes too small and still use this method now when my bras start to not fit right.Personally for me,I find every half inch I need to scoot the cup over,I need to go up a cup size.Updated on July 29, 2013 Flag this

Yep- I actually was a B cup at one point- after all I didn't have boobs for a long time so i've been every size up until what I am now. And my boobs back then are quite different from my boobs now...in fact they were practically flat. I think a lot of women assume B cup = medium sized, so they squash their boobs into B cup or C cup bras when they really should be taking something different. Up until recently I still thought that DD boobs were always huge stripper boobs. Most people with big stripper implants are probably a G or H, lol.
-
I was a B...long,long time ago.lol.Though there's nothing wrong with being a B cup,but a lot of women who think they are a B cup are actually a D cup!It all depends on band size and a person's boobs.I've seen people who both wear a 30G look way different due to shape and other factors.
Haha,I think my mom feels that way. She's wearing a 38C,even though her bust measurement is something like 39-41,and her underbust is something like 31".She won't listen to me,cause she thinks she is "small".She isn't.She's not huge, but she's not small, she's about the same as me.But at least she's wearing a wireless bra so it's not doing much damage except I think she would have less back pain in a good fitting bra.
Haha,at least a G or H.Probably a J-K cup or even an M or so.Though I've been on some implant forums and often they are in shock when they find out they are a 30G,or something like that. When most people would say they are a 36C.hah
I wear a G that is too small and my boobs don't look one bit stripperish. XD
Back when I was a bit smaller, someone was trying to tell me I wasn't a 36F cause she showed me a photo of some girl who had implants and said she was a 36F...ya..right..like those boobs are only 6-8" inches bigger than her bust. *snorts* Wouldn't have surprised me if that girl was a 32M or so. -
That is offensive on a whole other level. I got 400 cc silicone breast implants. Not large and I happen to wear a G. And soon to go larger to 600 cc. boobsincognito
-
Sakurablossom Um...well then. Not sure that counts as "offensive on a whole other level", a label I reserve for extreme racists and homophobes. But whatever, I suppose we all have different thresholds for getting offended by stuff. Someone said something racist to me today and I shrugged it off because who needs the negative energy of a fight/confrontation? Different strokes.
I am curious why the idea of G-cup implants being big is so "offensive" to you. Why would you get implants if you didn't want to have bigger boobs? And you're going larger? If you're so opposed to having large breasts, that might not be a great idea. For me, large is relative so I have no idea what your ribcage is (maybe a G doesn't look big on you, I have no way of knowing). But when I said the boobs people see as DD's are probably Gs or H's, I was right. MOST of the time, Gs and Hs are on the big side. There's nothing wrong with being on the big side. In fact, I'd like to be bigger.
As for the stripper thing (the only possible comment that would even marginally make sense to be offended by) I was talking about the erronious image that women have in their heads when they think of DD+ sizes. They picture the kind of breast implants that you see in a strip club, even if that's not what a DD cup (or G cup for that matter) always looks like. Most strippers DO have breast implants so when people think of stripper bodies they think of breast implants. Most women with breast implants are not strippers (obviously) and plenty of my friends have them. I was referring to a caricature, explaining why my friends don't believe I could be bigger than a B, because they picture "stripper boobs" (and obviously, they're wrong!) Also, as I'm sure you know there's a difference between tacky-looking, and normal-looking breast implants.
I have nothing wrong with women who get breast implants, and I think a lot of the time they look really good. Having been to plenty of strip clubs I can say that most of the time you see disproportionate, high-profile, unnatural-looking breast implants on a body way too small for them. Maybe yours are more natural-looking. I'd have no way of knowing. But I never once said "All women who get G-cup implants look like strippers" and I don't believe that either.
-
Why I find it offensive? "Most people with big stripper implants are probably a G or H, lol." The fact you had to use the word "stripper" to describe large implants,The reason it is offensive is because the word "Stripper" holds a negative connotation in our society. Which is unfortunate and I in no way look down upon on strippers in any which way because I admire Erotic dancers because they have the confidence to get up on stage and shake what their momma or surgeon gave them.
High-profile implants can and do in fact look natural on women. As long as the woman's BWD(Breast Width Diameter) calls for an implant that has a narrow base. And how do you know for a fact that they are high-profile? Any implant can look "unnatural" as you call it if the implant in question does not match the persons BWD. And you don't get G cup implants. There is no way to predict what cup size exactly you will end up after surgery. What it comes off as that any woman with a large implant which in this case is normally considered 700cc+ would be a G or H. Which is not always the case I have seen women get large implants and only go up to about a 34F or I have seen women get around 350cc and end up 30G. It all depends on the woman and how she is built. Just don't speak what you do not know about.
Yes I am going larger. And personally I love larger breasts. At the end of my surgery I suspect I'll be around 28H/28HH. An that is what a "G" looks like from bandsizes 28-38. http://i.imgur.com/dmOnJjj.jpg
And "D" http://i.imgur.com/SnbJ7jh.jpg. So your not a 30DD. you look much bigger. So all in all it is because your sentence that I quoted seems to make me think that you only believe strippers get large implants and that large implants are G or H cup. That most high profile implants are unnatural and disproportionate. When no one is "unnatural or disproportionate. We are all unique and beautiful. You could call yourself disproportionate since you look about a 28G. Which your not. Exactly my size. And apparently a G/H cup is large. I don't see it as large, HH/J/JJ is what I believe people seem to think what a DD looks like. but like you said
-
Sakurablossom Ah- I definitely didn't mean to offend you or anyone. I've been to a lot of strip clubs and what I see is that the implants look purposefully unnatural--some even merge into each other and turn into a uniboob. It IS possible to get bad implants. See: Courtney Stodden. I'm not saying she's a bad person for getting implants that don't flatter her, but I'm not going to say her's (or Tori Spelling's) boobs look as natural as, say, Blake Lively's implants. But obviously that's the look she's going for. What bugs me is that Courtney Stodden is going around saying she's a DD, when in reality she's probably a J. As you can tell I'm not THAT knowledgeable about breast implants-my bad. I never thought of myself as a G cup at all so there ya go. So used to my friends telling me I "could never be bigger than an A cup."
Most of the info I have about breast implants come from 2 of my friends who have them. They both said that when they got them done, they tried really hard to avoid the "unnatural stripper look". That IS a look. It's a stereotype, but generally implants that look very obviously like implants are considered trashier by some people. Personally I don't care what people do w/their boobs as long as it makes them happy (I'd also love to be a 28HH but I don't want to get them done) but I'm definitely not the first person to notice the difference between natural-looking implants and unnatural-looking ones.
I certainly didn't mean to be judgmental. I was more just frustrated that women assume any cup size over DD is going to look absurd and/or trashy, so if I say I'm a 28FF or G they're like "No way, yours don't look like enormous balloons" (which obviously a DD, or a G for that matter, wouldn't necessarily). I don't think ANY size can look trashy, but I do think there's a connotation with getting a certain type of implant and looking trashy to SOME people. (Same way a certain type of dress or shoes can look trashy). However, I think it's up to the person and whatever she wants to do she should do without having her character judged. I should also point out strippers are some of the nicest people I've ever met!
-
"Uniboob" is actually a medical condition. It is called symmastia and it happens when a surgeon over dissects the pocket medially. Tori spelling looks like she has bottoming out and has capsular contracture. It is possible to get medical complications. And Courtney Stodden's implants to me look fantastic for being so new out of surgery. Yes they are large but that is the look she was going for and the exact same look I would like.It is because she does not understand how to size herself. Again with the the stripper stereotype, not all women who get large implants are or even become strippers. It is a horrible stereotype. I know erotic dancers who are small chested. No the look would be Natural, Fake natural and fake. Natural obviously has more lower pole fulless and hang. Fake/Natural is that where you can't tell if they are fake or natural a very popular look. And fake tends to be a lot of upper pole and very minimal hang. And they can be a whole range of sizes. Just like breasts who do not implants. Breast implants are not for everyone.
No mine look very similar to yours but mine have a bit more upper pole fullness. Don't judge people's breasts unless your prepared to have the same comments made back.
-
I definitely don't think all women who get breast implants become or are strippers! That would be absurd :) I just notice that a certain type of implant has that *connotation* (as I said, similarly to a certain dress or shoe having a "stripper" connotation- it doesn't mean everyone who wears it is a stripper, but SOME people will think that even if it's not true. I have a dress that a friend of mine said was "strippery"- it doesn't mean I'm a stripper). Same way that certain hairstyles may have a "white trash" connotation, even though I've seen plenty of well-off people and non-white people with those same hairstyles. Just because a connotation exists doesn't mean everyone will buy into it.
Oh- and I forgot CStodd's implants are new. They will probably drop. They're not my preference at the moment, but as I said, I'm not judging her character by it. It was essentially a fashion choice she made, and I'm not obligated to agree with it personally, any more than I'd be obligated to like every woman's wedding dress. It's her choice though and says nothing about her character or personality. She seems to be enjoying them, so good for her.
People do judge my boobs all the time actually. It annoys me so I get that, but sometimes I feel like the only person in the world who is made fun of for having "too small" boobs and "too big" boobs at the same time. Since I didn't choose my boobs, it feels like more of an insult since there's really nothing I can do about their size. I'm not sure it would bother me as much if I had implants- because I don't care what people say about things I choose, like my clothing style or haircut.
Good luck on going bigger. That is the size I'd want to have naturally- not gonna happen for me but it would be cool if I woke up like that one day! I have this goofy pipe dream that wearing my true size (I can't afford new bras at the moment but maybe soon) will help them grow. probably an urban myth!
-
It just came off as judgmental and snarky. That is all, dear. I know that being told my breasts are small and huge. You are not alone in this. I have had close friends not even think their was even a difference from my breasts pre-surgery. It still does in a way cause you can choose your implants but you can't choose how your body carries your implants. And it is hard to picture how it will look. Is there a reason you wouldn't get implants?
It is not an urban myth; at least I don't think it is. It is called tissue migration. Average is about a cupsize but I think is more common in women with a bit more fluff to them. What happens is wearing a too small of bra pushes tissue back to your sides because the under-wire is sitting on the breast tissue. So when you start wearing a properly fitting bra and swoop and scoop the tissue slowly migrates. Like that armpit "Fat" is not really fat at all but breast tissue that has migrated.
Also the reason your 30/32 bands feel too tight is because the cups are much too small and your breasts are pushing your cups out and than causing the bra band to stretch. There is a very simple way to tell if your band is truly too tight or if it is just too tight because the cups are too small. Put the bra on backwards so that cups are on your back.
-
Sakurablossom I'm totally fine with other people getting implants but for me personally, I'm basically satisfied with the size they are now and since I'm only 24 there's a chance they'll grow more who knows? Also saving money...I spent 6K on Invisalign so that was my main cosmetic procedure! I hope yours turn out well though!

helpfulYou look like you are a 30F or 30FF. This bra looks nice because of the plunge style it gives you cleavage. But I think a 30FF would be better in the band. I can wear a 34D. I plan on altering the band because the cups are so comfortable and fit my girls good.

I love bras that provide cleavage without padding. I feel chubbier whenever I wear padded (not just moulded, but like padded insert) bras. Affinitas Casey bra is good for that too :)

Maybe a 28FF but the 28 bands are so tight and 30FF has more room in the cups too.
-
Jasminepetra I do have a very bony ribcage so some 28s are fine but others dig in a bit- I hear ribcages with more fat on them can go lower actually! I feel good in a 30 band or 28
-
This woman was saying if you are skinny you can size up 2-4 inches. If you are med. stay at +0 and if you have more squish around your ribcage you can size down 2-4 inches. I am skinny and I'm supposed be wearing a 26 band but I am busting out of the 28 bands and some of the 30 bands like the incredible hulk. I have to reinforce some hooks because they are tearing a little bit out of one of my 30 bands. I don't feel like I have a rope constricting my ribcage when I wear 32 bands. But the 28 and 30 bands that are too big in the cup seem to not be tight at all. So I don't know the cups are too small and maybe that's why it feels so tight in front of the band where the under wires are. Because I can fit my whole hand the back of the bands. But in the front they feel too tight. :/

helpfulYou are definitely bigger than a B cup. I think I'm around the same size as you (maybe a size smaller) i can wear 28E-F (varries by style as I have found out). For comparison I have a 24 inch rib cage and a 33 inch bust. My breast perimiter is about 7.5 as my breast perimeter (they just don't hang lol). I do have a question, how much push up, if any is in that bra. Push ups can make it harder to judge size sometimes.

helpfulAs much as you prefer the tight bras, they are not good for your breasts. Essentially, you are wearing a bra that is much too small because it gives the appearance of more cleavage. Your breast tissue will migrate if the cups are too small as you continue to wear bras that are too small. It will migrate under your arms, and the full cleavagey look you love will become harder and harder to attain. Great cleavage can be attained with a proper fitting bra. You definitely need a smaller band and at least a cup two sizes larger. Follow what the sizemapp says. Checkout some of the curvy kate styles on their website, their models all have natural breasts and many of the bras give great cleavage.
The cleavage that models have in ads isn't realistic, or even comfortable. Also, if you wear this bra all day, do you find it hurts, are you shoulders sore? Is the underwire itchy or digging in? Or do you breasts ache? Do you have welts or swelling from the band, straps or underwire? These are all signs of an illfitting bra.
Hope this helps.

helpfulRemember that cup size is not an indicator of how big your boobs are. You may not have very big breasts but still need a larger size due to the width of breasts. Hence, some people can be quite flat chested yet still wear DD plus cups. Can't really tell you what size you look like as the bra you have on is a push up padded plunge bra. However, from both your photos and your measurements I don't know how you can wear a 32 band as you look more like a 28- 30. At the very least if you can't find your band size, you will need to sew the band in to get a better fit. Again, cup sizes are not about how big your breasts are as some bras can be shallow, wide, narrow etc... It's just about finding something that fits and gives you the desired support and shape.
I'd throw away those 32 bands if I was you. Or if they sit well in the cup sew them in.

Funny because before I got fitted I wore a 34D. I obviously don't look anything like a 34, and my strapless bras always fell down!! Now I'm so persnickety about strapless bras that I barely even wear them. Can't deal with having to pull them up.
