Bra fitting help » wrinkling in cup, size problem or shape issue? band too tight?

Issue resolved
I need larger cups sizes and bras of a different shape more for shallow breasts. Unfortunately I can't try that in this bra because this was the largest size, so I can't make a comparison.
Original problem
There is wrinkling at the top of the cup, other than that it fits better than other bras I've tried so far. I don't know if changing sizes will help or if it's a shape issue.
The band feels way too tight, 34 is my tight underbust measurement but it feels like there is pain across my back at the band.
I like how it looks compared to other bras, I am considering changing to a 36E if the fit is close enough.
I think the wire width might not be wide enough though, I can't really tell where my breast root is.

helpfulHave you scooped and swooped properly? There seems to be a lot of breast tissue behind the underwire in your armpit in the side view picture? If you scoop and swoop everything into the cup then you might find that the cup size is too small - which would make your band feel small. Also can you post a picture of the back view of this bra? It might help us judge the fit better.

From the pictures you need to stay in a 34 band, a 36 will just encourage your boobs to sit in the cups rather than to be supported by the band. I think once you get into a proper fitting cup by swooping and scooping (the links from prettyNpetite are fab!) you'll find that the band feels much better as it will no longer be having to stretch more than necessary to accommodate breast tissue that isn't being encased in the cups.

Thanks, I have seen those swoop and scoop videos and while they help a lot they stop at a certain point. Before swoop and scooping there is a thick band of tissue over the side of my straps. After it is mostly gone but still some in the upper armpit area.
That makes sense though I think the underwire was definitely being stretched.

helpfulIn my opinion, the cup size looks too small (breast tissue at sides) which can make the band feel tight, plus the band is too large (riding up) and I don't think this shape suits you; I am wondering if you are shallow in shape as well - see http://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/shallow.

Ya I am pretty sure I am shallow. There was no data on this bra on bratabase and it looked like it might be a good shape for me but I guess not. This bra doesn't come in a larger size so I can't try it out, it seems like it might be better if it was bigger, but I guess I will just have to keep your tips in mind for future bras. But it really seems strange that I might need larger than 34F.
I received a few new bras today and they seem to fit much better just because of the shape, but similar issues so I must need to try larger sizes.

Thats good; yes, you might need a larger cup and a smaller band (sister sizing) as I think you look more like a 32band. This is also evident in the fact that you can tighten the bra on the last hook; if your bra band on the loosest clasp can pull back more than an inch, it is too big for you - I'd recommend testing you bands out like this as they should always fit on the loosest hook. You get more wear out of them this way, as the band loosens you can hook it further along.
I would recommend looking at the link I gave you, it is a guide for shallow breast shapes and has collected data on bras which women who also have shallow breasts found what worked/did not work and what bra styles to look out for/avoid.

Oh sorry I realize I made a typo in my comment below, I meant I tightened the straps as tight as they go. The band I could barely do up on the loosest hook.
I tried measuring my underbust again though just in case and the tightest I could go measured 32.5, very weird since I measured myself like 2 days ago at 34.

And I have checked out the shallow breasts link, the next bra I try will be something from there.

Oh I see, sorry about the band comment - it looks as though it is riding up in the photo. Glad you liked the link, I think something from their might suit you better. It is amazing how important shape is!

Ya no problem it was my fault I made a typo. I had issues getting a picture of my back so I think my camera was at an angle too. But it looks like it was riding up a bit, I don't remember, I already sent it back.
Definitely too small cups though and I will try some smaller bands too and see if that helps.

helpfulAlso I tightened the straps as tight as it would go, which helped with the wrinkling but didn't fix it entirely.
Edit: I meant that I tightened the straps, not the band.
