Bra fitting help » Too big? Too small?
Mimi Holliday » Blueberry Muffin Silk Chiffon Padded Balcony Bra (SS14-140) » 34E 34:6
Issue resolved
It doesn't fit. And the wire is wonky. Larger size not available anywhere.
Original problem
I love this bra. It is gorgeous and I like the shape it gives me. I've just started fitting balconies and they mostly seem too pointy (Freya) or too "shelfy" (CK). This is rounded with enough projection that I don't feel minimized. I can't decide if it's too big or too small. The straps are as tight as they will go and it seems too loose. When I swoop my bigger boob I am getting some spillage but I can kinda adjust it away.
I have lost weight and am older now. My old bra styles (mostly seamless full cups) don't work anymore, they all cut across the top. There's a lot of sagging that won't stay in any bra I've tried. I'm not expecting to get everything in, just want a nice silhouette without quadding or cutting across the top. I believe I'm FOB, wide set, wide root but this is all new to me. Thank you!

helpfulHi there and welcome! Mimi Holliday bras are beautiful and well-made, but they have a quirky shape that does not match the anatomy of most people with larger breasts--they are very wide and very shallow in the cups. Even if you do have wide roots, it's quite unlikely that you have 7" wide roots... most people with that width are in the J or K cup range, which is clearly not the case for you! This is also too small--you seem closer to a 34F/FF in most brands.
My breast shape is very similar to yours after 2 pregnancies and, shall we say, the passage of time I also don't have much use for seamless bras anymore since my tissue is so soft, but have had excellent luck with seamed full cup styles. Right now I'm liking Fantasie Jacqueline and /i also find the Chantelle full cup styles to give great uplift and a nice shape.
I would not recommend most molded, contoured or padded bras since they tend to be shallower and do not conform to the proportions of the real breast--meaning sometimes you need to try on 20 before finding just one that fits!

The Jacqueline is cut pretty high--in the right size, it should not cut in at all.
In my experience only the beige colorway runs loose. The black runs very tight. I also would go up to a higher cup size than 34E/32F. When you see a gore that fails to tack like on this Mimi Holliday, that means the cup is too small for you. -
Thanks! I'm looking more closely at it. I tried this Mimi on again and the weird thing is, the gore is not tacking on my smaller boob. I thought maybe the wire was bent but can't find ay evidence of that. Maybe it's just that the wire is too "floppy"? These are not things I've ever experienced. I guess it doesn't really matter; the bottom line is it just doesn't ift :-(
Thanks so much for your response, Wendy! I've been reading a lot of advice here and you always give great comments and suggestions. Looking at the size chart for this bra, 32f might be my only option? The band is stretchy and I'd be fine with an extender if I can get the cup right. Of course they don't have that size on Amazon.
The Jacqueline looks like it might cut across the top for me but I will try it on your recommendation. I got a Chantelle that I really like, can see on my bras.
Thanks also for the welcome, this site and its regulars are awesome.
