Issue resolved
I don't expect a cup size down to work any better. Going to keep this one for now!
Original problem
The main issue I have with this is, of course, the upper lace section. I feel like the cup is mostly right but I just don't fill the top.
I am narrow and projected for my size range and have begun to quad out of a lot of bras that roughly match my breast perimeter. Like, there can be an acre of unused cup on the sides, and I fall out of the top/middle of the bra. This particular bra has about a half inch of empty cup on the sides which is not that bad compared to others. I'm just explaining/justifying why such a huge cup appears to almost work on a 7" boob. But also, if anyone has any ideas for bras to try, that would be great.
This bra is NWT, purchased unreturnable and I am struggling with what to do with it. I found a 28D online and it would be under $30 shipped, but again, not returnable. Should I...
1. Give up on Minnie and resell this bra
2. Hang onto this for now, order the 28D and do a compare/contrast, even though I feel 70% certain that I would quad out of the 28D
3. Try to do something about the lace (this bra was $25 and I am sort of comfortable with the idea of altering it)
4. ????

helpfulThe Minnie is a a projected version of the Marcie, designed to hold you in from the bottom, sides and top. It's a little picky (like the Meg or the Zia) about just what kind of boob it wants to hold. Its not a matter of being FOT/FOB, but of where that tissue is. This bra wants an even shape with some upper projection. Its actually too closed on top for people with a shallower FOT shape. I do not think that sizing down will help (unless you alter the bra - see below).
That being said, if you have any sewing skills, you could try a simple alteration. If you sew a dart in the gore (bringing the wires closer together), it will tilt the cups and open up the top of the bra a bit more. This will give you a little more flexibility with a shallow upper breast. (you can test it out by pinching the bottom of the gore together while you're wearing the bra, then swooping/scooping/strap adjusting to see if the alteration will help). You may still need to go down a cup size (with the same gore alteration) to adjust to your breast shape.
The main questions are:
- As is, is it comfortable, and do you feel supported? If yes, great! If not, skip straight to alterations (and/or a totally different bra)
- Does the wrinkling show under a shirt? If not, great! If yes, do you care?
- If you chose to alter it, does the tilted upper cup fix the wrinkling problem, or is it still a little too big?
If it's still a little too big after you alter it, go down to a 28D and alter that one.I hope this helps.

helpfulActually, the depth is only half an inch larger than 2 of your perimeters. But I think you arent FOT enough for this bra. I think cleo makes some bras that are more FOB-friendly, perhaps you should try those? I dont know which they are because I'm quite FOT, at least when wearing a bra

Funny you should say that. The Lucy looks like it was painted on me, and that bra is supposed to work for FOB. I must be FOB? I am pretty clueless about shape. I'll have to go find out which others are supposed to be FOB friendly! Thank you!

Yeah, I think most of the 'tests' for fob/fot dont work, but what works is seeing how you fit the bra. If you are bulging out of the top of a lot of bras, you need FOT friendly. If you cant fill the top, you need FOB friendly. Or shorter/half cups. I bulge out of the tops.

helpfulI don't think it's exactly upper fullness, it's more about the slope of the upper breast... this cup is made to fit a shape that has almost no taper to it. Your upper shape tapers rather gradually from the projected part of the breast. So a 28D might cut in.

Yes, this confirms my hunch. I feel like a size down would be closer in to the chest and also maybe a wee bit shorter vertically, which would definitely create cutting-in. Thank you!

helpfulGive it up. I tried a lot of bras in such style and the upper lace section is all wrong even if the bra is too small.
I think this bra is too short for you.Updated on September 24, 2015 Flag this

I second what the others have said before. This bra works on me, and my boobs are really short, somewhat FoT, and my top part does not taper gradually but goes out from my chest wall quite abruptly. If your upper roots are taller and have more of a gentle slope this might not be the right bra for you.

Oh weird, I totally thought I replied to you yesterday! My tablet must have eaten it.
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I tried the bra on again today and tried pinching the gore at the bottom and it was a total disaster. The top of the gore went all crazy and tried to twist/flip. I tried a few things and couldn't get this idea to go anywhere. However, I think I know of a couple other bras I want to try it with!
On this bra, the gore is so narrow. Like, the narrowest I have ever seen. I love it. I don't know if it's a manufacturing quirk of this exact bra but the gore is so tall and narrow that there is a great amount of length where the wires appear to touch. It makes the gore really resistant to the idea of changing shape or tilting the cups.
I think because the lace does show under shirts when it wrinkles, I want to fix it. When I scoot the top scalloped section down so it touches the fabric section of the top, and the mesh/lace section is totally collapsed as if it didn't exist, the bra looks pretty darned good. I'll see if I can get a picture later!
